The Blacksmith Building built 1891, Upscale guesthouse since 2015.
Enjoy peaceful evenings on this street, second-floor walk-up in the heart of downtown Yonkers. 100 meters away from the Metro North - Hudson River line. Just 30 minutes south to NYC or head north to explore the Hudson River towns, and majestic Hudson Valley.
Entire 1000 sq. ft. live/work loft w/ 1 bedroom, 1 bath, sunroom and high-end kitchen. 1 queen + 2 twin beds. Walk to all, including renowned restaurants, museums, & river.

The space
This is a beautifully renovated space in an historic blacksmith building built in 1891. You get to reside in the apartment that housed the farrier Thomas Wilkie and his family in the 1890’s. The apartment sleeps 4 comfortably. There is a queen-size bed in the bedroom, a twin bed in the riverside alcove off the main living area and another twin bed in the sunroom. There is the possibility to set up additional beds for larger groups for an additional fee of $20 per person.
I require to see ID upon check in to ensure that the person who booked the loft is the person who is checking in.

COVID19

For the safety and protection of staff and guests the COVID19 Air bnb guidelines include an upgraded cleaning process and enhanced sanitation. Therefore, the minimum guest stay is 2 nights.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire second floor of the building. There are stairs to the second floor. No elevator available.

Other things to note
Indoor air quality is of primary concern, that is why I ask guests not to smoke in the loft.
It’s also why the master bedroom queen size mattress is made by Avocado Mattress, an organic, natural mattress.
Since you sleep for nearly 8 hours a night, it should be 8 hours on a healthy mattress.

Let me know if you'd like to borrow a bike or two or if you'd like an SUP (stand up paddle board) lesson on the Hudson.

Any unregisterd guests not on the reservation found to be in the listing is an additional $50 per person fee.

Neighborhood highlights

Did you know that Yonkers was recently voted the "Hippest Town in Westchester"?! The best of Yonkers is located downtown. Hear live outdoor jazz on Fridays in the summer. Visit our new Yonkers brewery, Beczak Environmental Center, The Science Barge and historic Philipse Manor Hall. Fantastic Cuban, Italian, and Mexican cuisine are merely steps away, as well as Peter Kelly's famous X2O restaurant on the Hudson, as well as downtown Yonkers first “white tablecloth restaurant” Zuppas.

The daylighted Sawmill River is just outside your front window. The local library is a great resource and is one block away. Lost Borough Ice Cream offers delightful treats. The Metro North will take you to Manhattan and beyond.

The NYS Philipse Manor Hall museum is around the block. Here one can learn about the whole story of indigenous, enslaved, and European colonization.
It is the location where Mary Calvie’s book “Dear George, Dear Mary” takes place circa 1755.
An entire day can be spent in this newly renovated museum.

The Hudson River promenade is an enjoyable walk to appreciate the view. Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding can be part of the fun.

Meet your hosts

Lives in Yonkers, New York
Pets: Dog, cat
I play cello, practice yoga, SUP on the Hudson, live with a cat and a dog, and enjoy the flowers and honeybees on the roof garden. Formally educated in the Hospitality industry, worked in it for years. With that in mind, I’m offering you the kind of place I would want my family to stay in. I'm enjoying the downtown experience and embrace walking and public transport. Mottos: Be the change you want to see in the world, since most anything is possible, and we are typically only limited by our imagination.
