The Space

Come stay in our adorable guestroom in a restored 40's CA Bungalow by the BEACH!

We are located in a safe, quiet family neighborhood - minutes from Westcliff Beaches and Cowell's surf spot, but also a quick walk to downtown Santa Cruz! The little guest room is in the house with us :) The house is really big but cozy and insulated, with hardwood floors and designer bath, and a LARGE kitchen (you have your own mini pantry and a shelf in the fridge while you are here). Also featured is a budding collection of art by local Bay Area artists (including me), a concrete zen bathing tub, and 3 late 20's, early 30's professionals ready to point you toward the best restaurants, coffee shops, beaches, and music venues in Santa Cruz.

- wireless internet
-size FULL mattress
-cable in the living room
-a vast collection on vinyl to listen to during your stay

An organic egg and pancake breakfast (cooked by me!) is available for $15 for 1 or $20 for 2 - served in the garden when it's nice out..

The house is clean and mold free, no pets, no smoking.

*IMPORTANT NOTE - we have recently been contacted by the city about the transportation taxes due. Just like several of the other top listings who have "gone legit" , we need to start collecting the tax in cash on arrival because airbnb does not have a section where we can add this - it's $10/night. Please bring at check in :)

  • The listing was exactly what we had (email hidden) and a beautiful room, we were made to feel very welcome and were given a tour even though we arrived very late in the evening. Thank you Michelle for being the perfect host.

  • Although our stay was very short (literally 8 at night til 8 in the morning) we had a wonderful experience staying with Michelle in her home. She gave us a tour and showed us several works of art from local Santa Cruz artists, of which she was very knowledgeable, she even had some of her own that we thought was really neat. Overall we had a great time and we recommend staying with Michelle to anyone going through Santa Cruz.

  • Michelle's house is a short walk to downtown Santa Cruz. Plenty of street parking in a quiet neighborhood. The house and gardens are decorated in very cool and artistic fashion. She puts a lot of effort into making her home clean, comfortable, and tasteful. Michelle is thoughtful, friendly, and welcoming. I look forward to my next visit.

  • My girlfriend and I had such a great time staying with Michelle! She was very welcoming and made us feel right at home.

Her house is awesome and jam packed with super interesting artwork. She was preparing for her annual easter egg party at the time we were there. There was funny and creative eggs hidden all around her house and in the Egg Gallery. Very cool! The pair of hairy eggs was possibly the favourite.

Michelle also cooked up an unbelievably good breakfast for us and the other guests. It was the best we had during our time in California!

    Overall one word…Awesome!

  • Michelle's house is like a gallery--starting from the tour she gave us, introducing us to the various pieces (including some of her own) by different (and mainly) local artists, to the interior holiday decoration. The house and the room we stayed in were clean, warm, and cozy. We enjoyed sitting and reading in her living room. She is friendly and helpful in pointing us to different things we can see/visit in town. Highly recommended!
