What a beautiful and serene cottage! We had a bit of trouble finding it but only because we came in the night. Well appointed kitchen with tools fit for a chef. The beds were all very comfortable and we loved that all the rooms had ensuites. We would definitely return next time we are in Cape Breton! Worth the drive from Sydney :)
Angela’s cottage was amazing! It is one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed – the cottage is new, roomy, beautiful and in the most quiet, peaceful and tranquil location you can imagine. Angela’s husband Klaus was our host and graciously greeted us with a glass of wine on our arrival; he provided me with some of the most enjoyable philosophical conversations I’ve had for a while. He was also a great resource for trip and attraction information.
Each bedroom in the cottage has its own bathroom, and our kids enjoyed the privacy of the two huge upstairs bedrooms. We had access to kayaks on nearby MacIntyre Lake (which the cabin overlooks), a roomy deck for morning coffees and evening glasses of wine, and were only a short drive (1/2 an hour) from Sydney and Louisbourg.
Overall, a wonderful place to stay – I wouldn’t hesitate to visit Angela’s cottage again.
This is a breath-taking property set back far off any paved road. Klaus helped get me there once my GPS stopped recognizing the gravel roads which lead to this home. I loved that I could not hear cars or any type of civilization! If you too have come to PEI to 'get away from it all', this is for you.
Klaus showed me around the house and then he retreated to a small trailer (visible on the left in the second photo) next to the house to leave me to enjoy this great space. He offered to make me an espresso in the mornings and that turned out to include a fruit salad and conversation as well.
Honestly, I didn't expect anyone but me to be around during my stay but it was nice to have the company in the end. For your stay, be sure to clarify this with the hosts. Towards the end of the description it states: "Once in a while my husband and I are staying at the cottage too..."
This means that they are also there in the house to use the bathroom and share the kitchen. I didn't mind (it is a huge house) but you might want to know in advance.
The lingering memories of this tranquil setting (including the quintessential sounds of the loons on the lake) make me miss it already and want to return.
Thanks again for offering folks like me the opportunity to experience such paradise.
We had a great time at the house - it was spacious with wonderful rooms, and a fabulous kitchen. The pictures are true. The house had wonderful views to the lake and the hills. The host's husband Klaus was very friendly & answered all our questions on our way there (where to buy groceries, etc). He met us at Oceanview Rd. to guide us in, as the road there was quite rocky, but good. The swimming there was great, and thanks for the little kayaks.
My hosts, Angela and Klause, were gracious, friendly, and helpful. They made sure that I was happy and well-looked after. Their beautiful lake side house is nestled nicely in the woods, and, has all the conveniences that anyone could ask for. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend the Blue Mountain View Lake Cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway.
