Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
This traditional croft house is located in the idyllic village of Valtos on the Isle of Lewis, offering stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, beautiful Hebridean white-sand beaches, rich history and abundant wildlife, this peaceful location is perfect for walking, surfing, fishing, or simply enjoying the scenery.

The house has been in our family for over 100 years and holds many happy memories, come and experience the unique beauty of life in the Hebrides.

The space
Recently updated, the home blends traditional croft house charm with modern comforts to create a warm and welcoming place to stay.

The house comfortably sleeps families and groups across four spacious bedrooms, including a ground-floor king room, a double bedroom and two family rooms with both double and single beds. One of the family rooms also has a private en-suite toilet(no shower).

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking everything from simple breakfasts to family meals and often becomes the heart of the house. The dining table seats six comfortably and can accommodate up to eight guests.

The cosy living room is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the island, while the bright porch offers a peaceful spot to enjoy a cup of tea or a dram while taking in the views. It also provides a quiet workspace with WiFi available. For families, there are board games, toys, DVDs and books available for guests to enjoy.

There is one main bathroom on the ground floor with a shower but no bath. Please note for larger groups there is only one shower in the house, something we plan to update in the future.

Outside, the large garden provides space to sit and enjoy the fresh Atlantic air, with a picnic table and benches for outdoor meals. Guests can also use the large shed for storing bikes, surfboards, fishing rods and other outdoor gear. The shed also contains an additional fridge, freezer, tumble dryer and even a dart board.

Whether you are exploring the nearby beaches, walking the dramatic coastline, surfing the Atlantic waves or simply relaxing with a view, this croft house offers a peaceful and memorable stay in Lewis.

Guest access
Guests have access to the full house, shed and garden. Please note that the byre beside the house is not available for guest use, and gates should always be kept closed as sheep often roam freely nearby.

Neighborhood highlights

Uig is a beautiful, peaceful area. The beaches and the scenery that surround you are breathtaking. On a sunny day it’s paradise all to yourself. Surfers will enjoy Cliff beach which is the closest beach to the house, just down the hill.

There’s a community centre near by which often hosts entertainment and has a cafe. The local shop will have everything you need and is 5 minutes drive from the house. The Uig sands restaurant is worth a visit with beautiful views across Ardroil beach.

As check in is 4pm and the Community shop usually closes at 5pm l suggest bringing supplies for the start of your trip from Stornoway. There are Tesco and COOP supermarkets in Stornoway, two fishmongers, several excellent butchers and a delicatessen. Please note there are no shops open on the Island on a Sunday.
