Spacious 1 bedroom on Ditmars Boulevard close to the N,Q subway line in Astoria NY. Tastefully decorated w/ a very well appointed kitchen, Tempurpedic queen bed, and ample room to work or relax. Wall mounted flatscreen, PS3, blutetooth speakers etc.
I have a spacious, tastefully decorated 1 bedroom apartment on Ditmars Blvd in Astoria. A short walk from gorgeous Astoria park and tons of great food and cafés including the renowned Taverna Kyclades and Agnanti. This is an ideal neighborhood for those seeking an experience less overrun by tourists, while still maintaining close proximity to the city. A five minute walk from the N,Q train lines, and 25 minutes to midtown Manhattan. There's 24 hour grocery store literally steps away from my building's front door alongside the laundromat.
The neighborhood is quiet and safe and full of delicious food and amenities. The building has a lot of families and is not really a loud party zone. You will definitely will enjoy privacy here while maintaining close proximity to all the amenities, delicious food, coffee shops etc.
The bedroom has a queen sized Tempurpedic memory foam bed which provides very relaxing sleep quality. The living room has a Bo Concept sofa (it folds down into a bed, not the comfiest but good for a few nights) and a complete entertainment center with PS3 and 40" LCD screen mounted on the wall. Cable Internet connection & wifi are available. I have a fully equipped kitchen, with many appliances. I have a home weightlifting set & chin up bar, and Astoria Park has a full running track and cross training area. There's a professional quality dartboard in the hallway for any UK visitors. There is a computer desk and I have a drafting table that folds away for those interested in extra work space.
I'm looking for responsible individuals who'll respect the space and be mindful of their surroundings. Longer bookings will be given preference. I will do my best to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. If I'm not able to meet you in person, I will be sure to have a friend meet you and show you around.
Guests will enjoy access to the entire apartment. I will provide basic amenities like clean sheets, towels, toilet paper and shampoo.
Basic foodstuffs like spices, sugar, honey, cooking oil are there to use but I ask that any other stored food not be eaten.
Interaction with Guests
I'm usually traveling when I rent out my place so I rarely get to meet my guests. A close friend of mine will meet you to drop off/pickup keys and show you around. I will also leave detailed instructions about my place that will answer most questions guests may have.
Astoria is one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in the country. There are so many delicious cuisines to sample and beautiful communities to appreciate. All the diversity you'd expect from Queens while maintaining close proximity to Manhattan. Astoria Park, Socrates Sculpture Park, The Museum of the Moving Image and The Bohemian Beer Garden are just a few of my favorite places to be here.
The N and Q lines are a short walk from my apartment.
I've worked hard to maintain a clean, happy home. I've taken care of my stuff and so I expect my guests to treat my home with care and sensitivity. You'll find it quite pleasant here if you follow a few basic rules. Having guests is fine, but please no loud parties/gatherings or any other behavior that would disturb my neighbors. Please be sure to lock the doors and windows each time you leave. The apartment only has one electrical circuit, so running too many heavy appliances at once will blow the fuse. Let's avoid that!
Please do not let my plants die! They are a happy bunch and easy to care for, just regular watering. All these logistics will be explained in detail in the house manual I will provide you with. Thanks!
Waleed's apartment had everything that was in the description. In fact, it exceeded our expectations. It is a really spacious 1 bedroom, very well appointed and with sunlight, which we love. Although it is on the ground floor, it has many windows and the plants provide privacy. He found a great solution for the windows: the shades can be opened from the top down which allows you to enjoy the sunlight and privacy at the same time. It is very quiet. The building is very well maintained, clean and quiet. My husband was there during Hurricane Sandy and was amazed how the building looked the morning after the hurricane: everything was clean and there was no garbage to be seen. The super is super.
The vibe in the apartment was wonderful and you can tell that the owner is a very sensitive and artistic person. Great decoration, plants, good quality linen and towels. Waleed highlights the quality of the mattress in his description of the apartment and he is right: we wanted to fold it and take it home with us! I slept better than in my own bed. Our son and his girlfriend visited during Thanksgiving and they said the sofabed was also very good. The kitchen had all we needed and a window. There are removable screens for the windows. All of this contributed to make us want to take good care of his home, as if it were our own. Waleed provided garbage bags, cleaning products, toilet paper and soap.
As for the neighborhood, we loved it. Very residential and, at the same time, many different and good restaurants and cafes and other businesses. My favorite was Martha's Bakery and my husband's favorite was the Greek Taverna Kyclades, both recommended by Waleed. By the way, the guidelines he left were very clear and objective and helped us operate everything in the apartment. There is a good 24 hour supermarket (Trade Fair) across the street and another very good one about three blocks away (Berry Fresh Farm).
Negotiating the rental with Waleed was very easy. He was always very well educated, ready to help, flexible and available.
We highly recommend his apartment and look forward to staying there again!
