The space
Due to the COVID situation we no longer have check in and check out on same day and we have modified our cleaning regime in compliance with local government guidelines.

The City of Bend has issued and Emergency Administrative Order which reads in part, "As of the date of this Order, operators of temporary lodging facilities are strongly
requested to refrain from booking any new reservations for tourist
accommodation, and only book reservations needed for health, safety, or
employment or other permitted essential travel."

In your booking request please explain the nature of your trip so that we can determine if you trip meets these requirements. If not, we may need to deny your request until such time as the emergency is over.

Located in the heart of Bend’s River West neighborhood is this beautiful newly constructed (completed in June 2015) studio apartment. This is a custom constructed dwelling designed by the Bungalow Company. This dwelling was designed and built specifically to serve as a vacation rental and is fully licensed and permitted, City of Bend Short Term Rental Operating License # STR-15-0505. You have your own private entrance from the alley adjacent to your dedicated parking pad. You have access to secure storage for any bikes, skis, snowboards, etc. you bring with you in the bike shed which is immediately adjacent to your parking spot. (Bikes, skis and snowboards are not permitted inside the apartment). This studio has a full and well equipped kitchen, queen sized bed, comfortable furnishings, AC, a cozy fireplace, and a beautifully outfitted bathroom.

We accept bookings from guests that are staying in the Cumberland Bungalette. We do not accept bookings from AirBnB travelers that are making the reservation for a third party. We also require that you have had your government issued ID verified by AirBnB.

This addition to Bend was platted in 1923 and the first homes were built soon afterward. Some of the homes are the original houses built by and for the town’s mill workers. Many of the homes have been completely remodeled and the area surrounding the apartment is uniquely Bend: an eclectic mix of old and new; craftsman and prairie; ranch and bungalow; modern and primitive.
This is a great location to experience Bend’s outdoor opportunities. To get to Mount Bachelor exit the alley, turn left and drive straight for 20.5 miles. Or, walk three blocks to the Mount Bachelor ParknRide and take the bus, $5 each way.

Phil’s Trail – hop on your bike and ride 20 minutes west (or drive 3.5 miles).

Les Schwab Amphitheater's main entrance is a 15 minute walk or five minute bike ride.

You may choose to leave your car on the parking pad and walk. Within a five block radius you will find the Victorian Café, Parilla Grill, Sip Wine Bar, Brother Jon’s Publik House, 10 Barrel Brewing, Sunriver Brewing, Growler Phil’s, Longboard Louie’s, The Lot, Columbia Park (the Deschutes River and foot bridge to Old Bend), Good Life Brewing, Volcanic Theater Pub, Cabin 22, Baltazar’s Seafood Restaurant, Baldy's BBQ, The Village Baker and more. Downtown Bend is a 20 minute walk or a six minute drive or bike ride (on your bikes or the cruisers provided with your stay). Les Schwab Amphitheater main entrance is a 15 minute walk or a short bike ride away.

Guest access
You have a private entrance from the alley. There is approximately 45 square feet of outdoor area on your side of the fence adjacent to the walkway to the stairs. This is primarily for parking the two loaner bikes we provide. During the winter these bikes are kept in the shed. You also have access to this shed with a locked door right next to your parking pad. You may also use this shed to store your skis and snowboards. The key is on the kitchen counter inside the Bungalette. (Bicycles, skis and snowboards are not permitted inside the apartment. Please use the shed for any other bulky items you have that do not need to be inside the Bungalette and may damage walls and floors.) You have a 10 by 21 foot concrete parking pad immediately outside the entry gate. This is the only dedicated parking for the unit. There is no other parking available in the alley. The apartment is 484 square feet and is above the detached garage used by your hosts. The only access to the apartment is from the alley. There is no access from Cumberland Ave.

Location

Bend, Oregon, United States

We have lived in Bend for just over 13 years and on this property for a little near six years. This property is in the sweet spot. Its close enough to 10 Barrel and Good Life to walk to but far enough away that people are not parked in your spot.

I am a retired Delta flight attendant. My husband works at Mount Bachelor. We live in the main house and love everything Bend has to offer.
During your stay
Our interaction with guests is very limited. Most of our guests we have never met. Even though we share the same property, the studio is separated and has private access. We rarely are aware of our guests' arrivals and departures. Most guests let themselves in. If we are aware of our guests' arrival we sometimes will greet them briefly at the parking pad. Because the studio is located above our garage, we occasionally meet guests by chance when we're leaving or returning at the same time.

We are happy to meet any guests who prefer to be met and assisted into the unit. Just tell us prior to your arrival and provide us an estimated time of your arrival.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
