The Space

Farm Stay and Bed & Breakfast at Stone & Thistle Farm in the Catskills. Guests enjoy the first-floor suite in the 1863 Greek Revival farmhouse. The suite includes a guest bedroom with a double bed, private bath and library with a private entrance. Additional sleeping facilities can be arranged in the library suite to accommodate families. After enjoying a bountiful farm breakfast, guests may opt, for a fee of $50 per family, to participate in a guided tour of the farm and lend a hand with farm chores (Tours & Chores 1 1/2 to 2 hours). Chores, depending on the season, may include collecting eggs, bottle feeding kid goats, feeding and watering chickens, rabbits and pigs, moving the sheep or dairy goats with the border collies and planting, weeding or harvesting in the kitchen gardens. We need 24 hours notice if you would like to participate in this program.

Dine at our on-farm restaurant Fable = farm + table on Saturday evenings and Sunday for farm tour/brunch from May to October. Experience on farm workshops such as Farmer for a Day or Rabbit to Roaster - butchering, cooking and eating adventures.

Enjoy the countryside and visit other farms, farmers markets, book and antique shops. Hike or ski the mountains. Swim in nearby lakes or explore the many state and local parks. Shop in the farm's store for fresh dairy, produce, and meat or dine in the farm's restaurant Fable from May to October. Reservations are required.

Guest Access

Wander the farm and talk to the animals. Splash in the stream, swing on the hammock, bike the country roads. Swimming, fishing, hiking and picnicing at Hartwick College's Pine Lake environmental center - 5 minute car ride from farm.

Interaction with Guests

We are available to our guests to answer questions, make recommendations for off farm activities and help make the farm stay safe and fun.

We've gotten great press - most recently from Thrillist "10 Insanely Awesome Farm Activities You can Drive To" ; Bon Appetit's Food Traveler as Top 25 Foods Farms & Flavors Tourism Destination ; NOFA's summer newsletter; and a wonderful blog post from NewYorkCityFamily.

(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps and other GPS often bring you to us in obscure and hard to drive routes, especially after dark. Please ask us to send you driving instructions.

No pets allowed on the farm. We love dogs (we have 8) but because the livestock guardian dogs work hard day and night to protect our livestock, your pet would be considered a threat to them and is not safe on our farm.

Farm owner with husband Tom Warren and son Shane of Stone & Thistle Farm, a grass based livestock farm, Kortright Creek Creamery, a goat dairy and small creamery and Fable=farm+table - a seasonal on-farm restaurant. We are passionate about farming, great food and sharing with our community. Our busiest time of the year is May to October when we do farmers markets, farm tours, dinners and brunch and Fable, farm events, farm chores, projects, building, repairing, vetting, gardening - but we are never too busy to meet new people and learn something new and different. As a guest on our farm, you can participate in farm chores or relax on the farm, eat great farm fresh food, enjoy nearby hiking, swimming, skiing or shopping for books, antiques, visiting farmers markets, museums or state parks.
