When we arrived the Waterloo area was having a bitter cold snap at -20 C and the cozy warm Blacksmith's loft was very welcoming - complete with fire going. Bedding was handsome and plush, even the pull out couch bed was nice. The cottage is on the outskirts of town so you will need a car. Driving to Kitchner/Waterloo is about 15 minutes.
We enjoyed hearing the regular passage of horse drawn buggies going by. Amazing with the weather we were having.
Was our pleasure to host Jackie and her family, and we're glad they enjoyed the Loft! Cold snap - wow, yes! And we're glad that's passed!
Just a note on the drive time for clarity - it would take 15min to get down into Kitchener. But the top end of Waterloo is only 5min away, and much of Waterloo is within a 10min drive.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Blacksmith's loft for New Year's Eve and it was a wonderful, cozy getaway. The loft had everything we could need and we really enjoyed waking up to the sound of horse and buggy. We did not meet Steve & Jane however they were accessible by phone. We would definitely go back!
My family and I spent a very comfortable night at the Blacksmith's Loft. The loft is spacious, clean, and full of light. Jane and Steve were helpful with directions, prompt about responding to inquiries, and flexible about our check-in time. We would happily stay here again.
The hosts were great. The property was cute and comfortable. Clean and well equipped. It was a great way to spend a couple of nights after the wedding.
The Blacksmith's Loft Studio Suite is delightful! It is described and photoed accurately but the actual experience of being there is even better than imagined.
It is spacious, bright, welcoming, and beyond clean. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with all the equipment that one could want on holiday.
The location is convenient for nearby activities yet has a feel of peace and country. The clip-clop of the Mennonite horse and buggies add to its charm.
Four of us were there for the weekend and we all solidly recommend it.
The Blacksmith Loft was a perfect wedding night getaway! It was like a home away from home and made our wedding night much more intimate.
Steve and Jane were extremely pleasant in the few exchanges we had with them.
We love staying at the blacksmith loft! It is clean, comfortable and cozy! A very homey place! Highly recommend!!
