A very good experience in John's loft: well furnished, well located. We just found that the washing machine was out of order, one bed was broken and one of the available air beds was pierced, but all the rest was great.
His assistant JT is very helpful.
A nice place to stay!
John's assistant JT was a pleasant and easy to work with during the checkin/out process. Loft was huge so we had plenty of space to work with. Beds and sleeping arrangements were comfy so all worked out well with my group. There was limited supply of bathroom tissue and kitchen napkins so bring extra if you have a group of girls. We were invited to a party on the 3rd floor which is directly above the loft so that was fun and convenient. You can hear the music from the loft until the next morning so I recommend ear plugs for those light sleepers. View at night was gorgeous but during the day it was a bit warm with the sun shining in. Great insulation at night to keep us warm without heating. We were given garage space parking so that was nice! Overall stay was great and will def look into this rental gain for the next part event! Thanks John and JT!
Great loft, thanks John.
I rented John's place to put up 10 of my friends who came out to SF for my birthday and it was fantastic. My friends all loved the space and thought it was such a unique SF experience. The place is huge and very comfortable and it has everything you need. The only difficult part was sharing 1 bathroom between 10 people but we managed. There's also no noise restrictions because no one else lives in the building so you don't have to deal with neighbors telling you to keep the noise down. We had a blast. I would highly recommend this place.
The place is amazing and exactly like the images and the two beds extremely comfortable but we were a party of ten and the brand new air-mattresses leaked the first night we used them. There were enough blankets and bedding though to use the couches in the place so that's where the other 6 slept. The place is a little cold as it's so big and surrounded by windows and very light in the morning. It's very close to the tram into the city and buses over to the Mission district. He does need to get more keys/swipes, especially for 10 people. We devised a plan of leaving the swipe hidden outside and the key hidden inside but it was a time consuming process every time you entered the place. Overall we loved our stay there and would recommend it!
Amazing space!! Huge, airy, sleek, classy located in a cool building with safe parking. Great unit to host a party or spend the night. Really enjoyed the piano too! Great work desk, huge TV, lots of seating.
We booked this place for a few nights with a group of 10 visiting the city and were all comfortable at this loft. Aside from the inconvenience of only one bathroom, it was a very clean, nice place to stay.
The loft is located in a more industrial area a bit detached from downtown, so to get most places you had to take a MUNI line, so locationwise it's only somewhat convenient. To be blunt, it's somewhat of a ghetto area, and depending on where you go, you may end up walking through unsafe parts of the city.
However I would like to address one important issue: we did have some problems with the neighbor in the next loft over. The first night we were there, he confronted us and was being very rude and discourteous to one of our guests (swearing, threatening). Apparently he'd had a reoccurring issue with people staying at the loft and playing loud music late into the night. (For the record we were playing music, but not very loud, and it was only about 8pm or so.)
We told him we were guests through airbnb and were paying money to stay here, and we had been willing to negotiate a sort of "quiet time" schedule earlier. It would have been ok to just let us know his issue, but the way he approached us was totally inappropriate. We mentioned working things out with the owner of the loft who's renting it out, but he made it clear that he's tried and it hasn't worked out. This problem needs to be straightened out in order for airbnb guests to enjoy their stay here.
Aside from that it was a nice place to stay, worth the money for large groups. Also, on the next floor up, they throw club event/parties on the weekends. We were given free entry for being resident guests which was really cool!
We had our company holiday party in John's loft and it was one of the most successful events we've ever held. Every single person walked in and went, "WOW!" The apartment is huge, has beautiful views and is perfect for viewing sunset over the hills, and is well stocked with anything you need to throw a dinner party. It also has tons of beds so you could comfortably sleep a bunch of people. Would absolutely use this loft again for another event.
John was great - he accommodated my last minute booking, he was very friendly, and his assistant was available and helpful with check-in and answering questions. The loft is very cool - super spacious and hip.
Unfortunately, we ran into major problems with the next door neighbor. He came over and threatened (email hidden) as soon as we turned music on - when it was nowhere near being loud. It was evident that he was not happy with John renting out his place, and he told us that any noise after midnight would not be tolerated (this was a Saturday night). He proceeded to come back several times, had the cops come, etc (the cops didn't think we were too loud/didn't even give us a warning). There was absolutely no reasoning with this guy.
In summary: awesome place and nice host, but think twice if you're having an event as the neighbor will do everything in his power to shut you down...even if your noise is under control.
This was a great place for a big group! We were 10 people, with 5 adults and 5 kids. The kids loved sliding in their socks on the slick concrete floors. There was also ample space for them to run around in the hallway. Tony the building manager was very friendly, helpful, and easy to work with. Parking two cars in the garage downstairs was no problem. The loft was so spacious and airy. And its location between the airport and downtown, with easy on and off 280 or 80 makes it a prime spot. Thanks, John, for helping us make ringing in the new year an unforgettable experience.
