Interaction with Guests
I am often at work, either out or at home and have a busy schedule. I think my flat is ideal for independent travellers who are happy to explore Glasgow and enjoy themselves as I will most likely be working, quite often at home (when I use the living room as my office). I really appreciate guests respecting this: if you're looking for somewhere to spend a lot of time hanging out at home then no hard feelings - my flat just isn't for you!
The flat is within the famous Barrowlands market which runs over weekends and is a real treasure trove. Lots of stalls and quirky bits and bobs to rummage through plus a fantastic cafe. During the week, the market does not run and the area can seem a little bit run down, but I have never encountered any problems and neither have my guests. I'd just encourage people not to judge too harshly, it's an area being regenerated with lots of local character and soul. I live next door to the world famous Barrowlands gig venue so at weekends there are often bands playing which is great, but there can be some noise until about 11pm.
The flat is a few minutes walk from the Trongate where you can find the stylish, classy Merchant City area of the city. This has plenty of individual restaurants, cafes and bars plus some gorgeous boutique shops. This area leads into the city centre with the marvellous GOMA, lots of shops, bars and interesting galleries.
Round the corner from the flat is Glasgow Green, perfect for a relaxed stroll. The People's Palace and Winter Gardens are here and make a lovely change from the busy city centre.
Nearest overground stations are High Street, Argyle Street, Queen Street and Glasgow Central. All within 10-15 minutes walk.
Nearest subway station St.Enoch.
Lots of buses right outside the door.
Other Things to Note
Laundry service available for £3 per load.
Be nice to the cat!
Please note that I work from home a lot of the time so I may be using the living area for teaching/work at points during the daytime while you're staying, and it will be unavailable for use.
Allie and Jass are very kind hosts and their space is very nice. The address is a little hard to find but Allie's indications were excellent. Only make sure you do not ring the buzzer for flat number 23, as their flat is number 3 and the official street number 23 is not shown on the building.
Had a great stopover at Allie and Jazz's place. Right next door to Barras Market (great for weekend vintage rummaging) and a real slice of Glaswegian life on the Gallogate Road. Easy to walk into city centre, and great restaurants and cafes too. Comfy room, I slept well and Allie and Jazz easy going hosts...and Donald the cat too. Would definitely stay here again.
Had a great stay at Allie's flat, everything was very easy from booking through to meeting up and getting the keys - Allie was great at keeping in touch. I was very happy with the room and it was spotless, comfy and very cosy! Donald the cat was also very welcoming. There was a bit of street noise but nothing out of the ordinary for a city centre flat and it didn't bother me.
I found the apartment nicely decorated and very clean. My room was small, with a double bed but no chair or desk, and I shared the bathroom with the hosts, hence the comfort was very basic. I had access to the living room to prepare a hot drink in the morning. The house is 15 to 20 min walk from the city center but the neighborhood is very deserted at nighttime. I did not have any problems when I walked back in the evening the first days but I felt more secure taking a cab after some time.
I take every precaution to be extremely clear about our home, and if you read our profile properly it does say that the room is small and the bathroom shared. I'm sorry if you were disappointed, but I am very honest about the flat, the room and the local area. If you had wanted somewhere larger or in a different part of town, you could easily have chosen another place. To say that the 'comfort was very basic' is hardly accurate, as you will see from many warm and positive reviews from previous guests.
Even though Allie was not personally there during my stay in this Airbnb, her friend was there and made me feel very welcome! The room was very lovingly decorated and very tidy. I would definitely recommend this room to others staying in Glasgow! Thank you Allie!
Allie was great and very helpul. She gave us a paper with recommendations and places to hang around and good places to go and eat in the city. The apartment is very beautiful and cozy. Located in a good area. highly recommended!
It was a pleasure to stay with Alice, Jass and Donnie the cat. Super convenient on my way up to Colonsay and very warm welcome. Highly recommended.

About the Host, Allie
I'm a theatre director living in Glasgow, which is an absolutely brilliant city. I love all things creative: theatre, art, books, music and this city is great for exploring all of them. I run my own theatre company and teach, so I work partly from home.
I've got a lovely wee flat which I share with my husband Jass and our gorgeous cat Donald. We are delighted to welcome people to stay. It's very calm and cosy but just next door to the world famous Barrowlands so there is lots going on round here, and the city centre is only a few minutes walk.
As hosts we are friendly, relaxed and calm. We do like our own space and privacy too - so appreciate guests who will respect that.
