The space
🧍🧍 (+🐶/🐱) Two guests can stay in this 22 m² studio.

You can choose to sleep:
✦ in the comfortable mezzanine bed (140 × 200 cm)
✦ or on the sofa bed (also 140 × 200 cm)

N.B.: The piano and guitar are available for your use. Please take good care of them.

👉 To access the rooftop terrace*, you will need to leave the studio and use the main entrance of the house. A charming but narrow spiral staircase will then lead you upstairs :)

* The studio is located on the ground floor of a house with two other independently occupied floors. As the terrace is accessible from the main entrance, it may be shared with other guests, but in practice you will most often enjoy it on your own, undisturbed 😊.

🏡 Renting the entire house (“Aryjina kuća – Charming sea & mountain view house”) guarantees you exclusive use of the terrace.

Guest access
✔ You will have access to your studio with a private entrance, as well as to the rooftop terrace, accessible via the main entrance of the house.

⚠️ Please note: due in particular to a narrow spiral staircase leading to the rooftop terrace, this accommodation may be less suitable for people with reduced mobility, tall guests (≈ +1.90 m), or guests of larger body size.

Other things to note
🚌✈️ Good news for guests without a car: bus line 37 connects directly to Split Airport and drops you off about 50 meters from the house, after approximately 20 minutes of travel.

🎬🏰 If you are a Game of Thrones fan, take a walk to Kaštilac, just a few meters from the house… You’ll be following in the footsteps of “Arya Stark of Winterfell” ⚔️😮

👾 Pokémon GO players: 1 Gym + 5 PokéStops are accessible directly from the house ^^

⛵⚓ Finally, for boating enthusiasts and professionals, the Croatia Nautic Show takes place every year at Marina Kaštela, located less than a 10-minute walk away 😎🌊

🏡📖❤️ “In September 2021, just after we had returned from there, we set off again for Croatia, a bit on a whim… to find a house. Because every time we go back to France, Barbara cannot hide her emotion as she leaves her country, her family, her friends… The idea of finding a small home “of her own”, away from the lights of big cities (so I could have my starry sky!), had gradually taken root in our minds.

This adventure was intense, full of twists and turns, and difficult, but we were incredibly lucky to find this house, nestled between the mountains and the sea, in a protected hamlet with the feel of a Zelda “Cocorico” village, just a stone’s throw from the Kaštilac fortress in front of which “Arya Stark of Winterfell” once tried in vain to sell oysters, clams and mussels…

✨ The place is magical.

And the people we met there are just as magical: as you walk across the small stone bridge linking the village to Kaštilac, you might meet Andělka, the village elder with her dry sense of humour, who could not hold back her tears when she saw us leave in a hurry for the airport, before she had time to give us the bottles of homemade olive oil she had set aside for us.

If you come to Aryjina kuća, you might meet Goca, who has been running the small café just downstairs for twenty or thirty years. Vinko, her husband, a retired sailor, lives in a tiny room on the ground floor of their house: he has difficulty walking and only goes upstairs for naps and to sleep at night. Time has not changed his good mood, and if you talk with him a little, he might let you taste his cherry rakija, the secrets of which he keeps to himself.

During those fifteen days spent working on and setting up the house, we were completely under the incomparable charm of Kaštel Gomilica. We hope you will feel at home there too!

📚 Kaštel Gomilica is the oldest village in the Kaštela Bay, whose municipality of the same name—the second largest city in Split-Dalmatia County—has a population of over 40,000. The town developed around seven fortresses, and Kaštel Gomilica is the second of the seven “kaštels” when coming from the east. The narrow streets of the village lead to the Kaštilac fortress, built on a small islet attached to the shore.

This fortress was founded in the first half of the 16th century by Benedictine nuns from Split in order to protect their peasants from Turkish (Ottoman) invaders. The land on which the village developed around Kaštilac was granted by King Demetrius Zvonimir of Croatia in 1078. The Benedictine order of Split also built the Romanesque Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian there in 1160.

Today, Kaštel Gomilica has 5,048 inhabitants (2017) and is a major tourist destination: located by the sea, in the heart of the Dalmatian coast, this protected site is only 16 km northwest of Split (the second largest city in Croatia) and 15 km east of the historic town of Trogir (both listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites).

The Kaštela region, with its Mediterranean tones, picturesque landscapes and unique natural environment, has attracted people since prehistoric times: from ancient Greek sailors to today’s lovers of sun and sea, many have chosen to settle here.

My work: It depends on the moment!
Favorite song in high school: Numb (Linkin Park)
I was born in Zagreb, spent part of my life in Petrinja, and today I live in France. My life story spans from getting engaged in New York to getting married in Nantes—all in the midst of the coronavirus! My husband is French, we have a little princess, and I spend my free time playing handball and cooking (which is almost a daily ritual for me) :)
