About This Listing

This is Clint Eastwood's town, best known for being dog-friendly. Hidden away in the woods, our rustic cabin is like a treehouse with all the amenities . . minutes from downtown, beaches and a tennis court around the corner.

Response from S. Shelley:

After waiting up for you both very late, I'm surprised by your comments. Sorry to hear that the room was cold, but I'm wondering if you were aware of the heater on the wall? As for the bathroom? It may be "old", but here in America, when one says "rustic" it implies simplicity and functionality; more shabby chic than the Ritz. Currently Americans are into recycling and repurposing, so it seems absurd to tear out a bathroom to make it look new unless something has lost its functionality. I actually prefer the patina of age, truthfully. There is a table in the cabin, too, but as the balcony is limited in space, I've always assumed it was perfect for just coffee and to sit and watch the birds fly by. Odd, too, that you never mentioned the antique saltillos . . . one on the wall and one on the table; then there's the great paper cut by an artist in Mexico and another work by a local artist. I've tried my very best to make staying here unlike any experience you'll find at one of the local hotels.

Carmel became an artists village by the design of a San Jose real estate developer - Frank Devendorf. Unfortunately, artists cant afford to live here anymore.
