About This Listing
My husband and I love to travel with our two kids, so we know how great it feels to find a home away from home at a reasonable price. With that in mind, I’m delighted to share with you our warm, quiet, street-level apartment in residential Old Mill Basin in Brooklyn, New York, just 20 minutes from JFK International Airport and 35 minutes from LaGuardia Airport. It comfortably accommodates the single person, couple or family of up to five looking for a brief or extended stay.
The space is private, so you won't have to share anything; you will have the entire apartment to yourself. It consists of a living room, bedroom, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. It is breezy in the summer and warm in the winter and is close (in many cases walking distance) to the best of shopping and entertainment for both kids and adults.
- Free air conditioning during summer months.
- Free basic cable TV.
- Free WiFi Internet access.
- Fully furnished living room – chair, futon sofa/bed, flat screen TV.
- Bedroom – chair, full size futon sofa/bed (additional, smaller futon/bed provided as required for fifth person), night stand.
- Full kitchen – stove, cooking and eating utensils, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, toaster.
- Bathroom -- Shower, toilet, sink, and yes, there is a hair dryer. :-) (We get that question a lot!)
Shopping & Attractions:
Walking distance from kids playground, grocery stores, pharmacies, diners, restaurants, pet stores and the well known Kings Plaza mall. A short bus ride gets you to the Triangle mall, Atlantic mall, the affordable Flatbush shopping district, libraries, and museums. Fifteen minutes by car gets you to the Sheepshead Bay IMAX 3D movie theater complex, the world-famous Coney Island and New York Aquarium.
Adult entertainment includes easy access to Utica and Flatbush Avenue night clubs and the Resort World casino on Rockaway Blvd (just off the Belt Parkway).
Commuter vans and NYC busses with connections to trains to Manhattan are conveniently accessible just a few feet from the home’s driveway.
Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
Other Things to Note
Late Check Out:
The apartment is usually in high demand, so we tend to have new guests arriving the same day that previous guests are leaving. This means late check out is often not possible. Check with us no later than the day before you plan to leave and we will let you know. The late check out rate is $10/hour.
Early Check In:
Again, due to high demand, it is not always possible to accommodate early check in. Check with me no later than the day before you plan to check in and I will let you know. The early check in rate is $10/hour.
No parties, pets, loud music, loud noises or smoking please. We take pride in our apartment, so please be considerate as you use it. Please place trash in provided garbage bins and maintain general cleanliness of the surroundings. Be considerate to neighbors -- we've known them for years and they are all great people. Just reach out to me if you ever have a question about whether something is permitted. We thank you in advance.
We had a pleasant stay, a cosy and clean apartment. Our host was very thoughtful even if we did not meet her.
Yolanda was excellent! We booked VERY last minute and she was so accommodating. The apartment was beautiful and clean when we arrived. Great host, Great place. Would definitely stay again!
The place was really good and clean.. We couldn't meet the host but her Dad helped alot.. Thanks to him.. Only one thing they really forgot to put the AC.. Other than that we didn't have any problems.. We do recommend the place to other Airbnb's ..thanks alot !
The AC is up now, but just for clarification, it is normally put in place in the summer months. It's not officially summer yet in the USA. In fact, it was 50 degrees F this morning. You'd be requesting heat if you were here today! :-) Thanks for the recommendation and hope we see you again sometime.
The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful and we had a great 2 nights stay at Yolanda's apartment. It was just right for 4 persons to stay in. The basic amenities were provided and the host was patience with our questions via the phone call. A pity that we did not get to meet Yolanda.
Upon arrival my guests and I were running late but Yolanda wanted to meet and us waited for us to arrive, which was very nice. Then when we entered into the apt she informed me that she had put something special on the table for us. When I went to the kitchen area there was a tray with candy, a bottle of wine, and a note saying Happy Graduation. That was the sweetest thing ever and very thoughtful. I booked apt for my guests and I to stay to celebrate my master's graduation from NYU since I didnt have the space at my apt. We really enjoyed my stay at the home. The neighborhood was quiet. The apt looks just like pictures and we had enough clean towels and bedding for all nights. We were able to reach the hosts as needed and felt very welcomed into their space. I have moved from NY back to my native home in Ohio but if I ever come back to NYC I would definitely choose to stay here again.
The apartment is really nice it has everything you need and an ok location near pharmacies, groceries etc. I say the location is ok because the apartment is like 15-20 mins(drive) away from the nearest train station ( I don't advise you walk it can take you up to an hour or more) but they have commuter buses that drive you there ( faster and cheaper than the bus). They are driving around through out the whole day 2$ per person ( I advise you read the welcome book in the apartment for tips). Manhattan is like an hour and a half (via public transit) . Overall we enjoyed our time in the city. The apartment is great.
