Great! The house is located very close to the city center (20min walk) and the rooms are clean and spotless. There is always someone who can help you if you got some questions. We felt a little bit like staying in a hotel, that haven't lost its private charme. By the way the laundry is great for everyone who has a lot of clothes to wash :)
Settling in was easy because the info on the airbnb website was so complete and accurate and I'd had answers from Mireille to two questions while I was booking. As well, there was a very conscientious on-site innkeeper to help me and others learn the routine. The self-serve breakfasts in the dining room, with fresh fruit, yogurt and breads, were super in and of themselves. I also liked them for the chance to meet other guests. I was at the bnb because I was looking for a house in Victoria and conversations over breakfast helped a great deal with my research. The location (a quiet street between Fort Street and Rockland Avenue), made getting around easy because it was so central. It was an easy, safe walk from the bnb to downtown Victoria, three "villages" (Oak Bay, Cook Street and Fairfield) and the very exceptional Moss Rock Park. I loved the huge old trees, curvy streets and stately residences. My room was clean and quiet, looking out at Craigdarroch Castle on one side and down the street on another. It was no hardship doing a cleaning and changing the sheets and towels when they needed it. The internet access in my room was super, and I appreciated having access to a printer downstairs, and a phone, on those occasions when I needed them. To sum it all up, I feel very lucky to have found this bnb....it was a delight!
What a wonderful experience!!! I love this place! I will recommend staying here to all my friends and family visiting Victoria. The room was so beautifully decorated, breakfast was perfect, we were able to use the guest kitchen and refrigerator . The atmosphere was charming . I especially enjoyed looking out the window at the Castle!!! Thank you so much! You and your husband are doing a wonderful job! Your friends George and Martha Richards
I fully recommend this B&B for anyone who is looking for a charming and well located place to stay while visiting, working or settling down in Victoria. The place is a gem. I only give it 4 out of 5 because I had some issues with noise due to renovation. However, I am sure once the house is fully renovated, you will only have good things to say about it.
I can't imagine a better place to stay in Victoria. Everything is as beautiful as seen in the pictures. Mireille and Dennis are great hosts, always willing to help you in what ever you need. Hope I can come back some time soon!
This is a quiet and characterful B&B that provides a relaxing environment right by the castle. We had a great en suite bedroom for a month facing the castle, which was bright and airy, and not hot despite the weather outside. The hosts are friendly and very responsive to any questions and needs of guests, which added to the relaxed feel of the place.
The space and facilities were very good. The communal lounge and dining areas are large, bright and comfortable for relaxing in. The breakfast was good and worth getting up for, there are good and free laundry facilities, and wi-fi was reliable. Free North American phone calls were a helpful touch for those staying longer.
The shared kitchen can be a bit small if multiple people want it at the same time but we found this to be ok with a bit of planning, despite the B&B being full throughout our stay.
The place is a bit of a walk uphill from the centre of town, but there are regular buses and the road felt very safe to walk at night. There is a short bus ride to a Safeway and a short walk to the laid-back eating and drinking areas of Fernwood and Cook Street. So even as non-drivers, the location was good for us.
Overall this was excellent value for an Airbnb stay, and we would happily stay there again.
For around 5 weeks Mireille and Denis' B&B was our home. It is a great place to stay; quite, central and has a beautiful neighborhood. Mireille and Denis are great hosts and we are already missing Chanel's Crunch Cafe, which is arranged by their daughter and where we used to buy some snacks. Whatever question we would have: where to go, how to reach, or where to do shopping, they would be more than happy to answer. We are going to miss all the nice talks with them about foreign politics, Victoria and Canada. All guests were nice people, helpful and pleasant. We liked cooking in the kitchen and eating our dinner with the view of Craigdarroch castle. We very much recommend the place to anyone looking for a short or a long stay or for a holiday in Victoria.
Thanks again for everything Mireille and Denis,
Milou and Yassene
