Katty was a really nice and caring host, although she wasn't in Santiago at that time, but the communication was excellent and getting the keys etc. was perfectly organized.
I did not stay in exactly this apartment mentioned here, but as Katty runs 4 apartments in this Building, I suppose they're all in the same shape :)
It is a really beautiful, very clean and perfectly equipped apartment (I didn't need them, but there are even current converters for 220->110 Volts...), located in the 16th floor, with a great view over Bellavista, Santiago and the Andes.
As it is situated quite in the middle of one of Santiago's most popular party-areas, it maybe is not recommended to those who travel with small childs or look for quiet and silent nights, at least from Thursday through Saturday ;)
But to all who love live-music, good food and, sometimes, samba-groups playing in the streets at 3 am: Join it, go for it, you won't be disappointed!
There's a lot of really good restaurants, cafés and bars around, within a 1 to 10-minute walk.
Bellavista still is one of the most beautiful districts of Santiago, and I'm travelling there for over 20 years now.
Oh, and there is a nice pool on the ground floor...
Mid-60's couple stayed for a month from 22 Dec 2013 until 19 Jan 2014. Apartment was clean and ready for occupancy. Address given as 58 was really 28; taxi driver called and obtained correct address. Absolutely great view of Andes. And, the view of the Costanera ( tallest bldg in SA ) was spectacular. Red roof in pix was the top of the university. Quite nice during the day. If you need to sleep before 4am, bring earplugs. Starting at 10pm street musicians start playing. When we were there, a one man band switched off with a bongo player and they played through the night. Wearer of hearing aids, I still could feel the thumping of the musicians even while wearing earplugs. Mid-20 partiers would love the apt and it's location. Katty was very quick to reply to our email. Had to seek info about password for internet as she said it would be in apt but was not. Had a great time in Santiago, but would choose upscale and more expensive Las Condes area for next visit. Do not miss Pablo Neruda home and trip up the funicular to San Cristobal. just a few blocks away.
Katty was a great host and would recommend her highly.
The apartment is perfectly located for having a great time in the evening! Subway is pretty close and the guard/doorman will call you a cheap cab if necessary.
I had a great time a this place!!!
When I had troubles reading the WiFi passcode in handwriting, Katty sent her cousin over for assistance!!! The WiFi was available for me after 15 minutes! Great job!
We had great times in Katty's apartment. The place is well located, clean and very cosy. The area is surrounded by tourist, bars, pubs and restaurants, which may cause too much noise, disturbing people who intend to sleep early at night. For people who like parties, this is the perfect spot.
We've faced one single problem: the hot water. For some reason it was not working properly. The host was contacted and I really believe this is going to be fixed before the next guest arrives.
In summary, the place has an amazing view of the Andes and I really recommend it.
Great apartment, great view, clean, large, comfortable and with added bonuses of radio and satellite TV!! Very close to La Vega (a wonderful food market) and San Cristobal. Lots of restaurants and shops!
Only downside: The neighborhood is a party neighborhood and the music and people in the bars down below will continue late into the night.
The apartment and location are ideal for a Santiago city stay: access to transport and restaurants etc could not be better: the view of the Andes is indeed awesome! The one significant disadvantage of the apartment is the near proximity to the Pio Nono bars, which are open till 4am: in consequence ear-plugs are a necessity on Friday/Saturday nights, since the apartment lacks double-glazing.
With respect to the apartment's facilities, these are modern and quite adequate for two people, but the space would be very limited for a larger family. It is very secure, being on the 16th floor of the 19 storey block. Finally, the supply of only one set of bed-linen is O.K for the summer but may cause problems in drying post washing in the wetter season: the linen is in fact of a poor/thin quality and should be upgraded.
It WAS a beautiful view of the Andes, 16 stories up, clean and new. We seemed to be the only people over 30 in the building, but the building was quiet, although the neighborhood was jumping! It's only a short walk down Pio Nono to Cerro San Cristobal and Pedro Neruda's house (excellent tour). Katty actually suggested we might want two 1-br apartments instead of one 2-br and that worked out great. She also let us stay late on our departure date if she had nobody else booked, and she was very flexible about meeting us the day we arrived. Nice bathtub/shower combo, big closet area, comfortable futon w/ bedding. (Americans should bring face cloths.) Nice supply of coffee for mornings on the balcony viewing the Andes and plenty of cooking utensils, but there are too many good restaurants in the neighborhood to use them for anything but breakfast. The mall between Pio Nono and Constitution has lots of variety. Some people might want a more traditional hotel atmosphere, but we enjoyed being around the young people in this vibrant neighborhood. Thanks Katty. Julie and Hugh
