About this listing
Welcome to my place and your temporary home! I'm located in one of the most desirable areas for visitors to San Francisco; close to Fisherman's Wharf, Marina, Crissy Field, the Presidio and downtown shopping district - Union Square area.
This home is located in a convenient location (easy walk to Chrissy Field, Fort Mason, Golden Gate Bridge, America's Cup Pavollion), also close to public transportation. Near Union & Chestnut streets - basically this is one of the most desirable locations in San Francisco!
It's a comfortable flat with all the amenities for a comfortable stay in San Francisco. Two bedrooms - large master with a very comfortable queen bed; 2nd bedroom is very cozy with queen bed. comfortable dining/tv room, very well equiped kitchen. This flat is in an old Edwardian bldg so has features unique to that time and style, such as a split bathroom: the tub/shower and sink are in one room and the toilet is in a separate room.
This is a perfect location for participating inall of the America's Cup activities.
Up tp 4 people, no pets, no smoking!
THIS FLAT IS AVAILABLE FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER ONLY (not available for individual nights or weeks).
You'll have access to the large, well-equipped kitchen, TV room/dining room, and shared bath.
I do live in the flat so our interaction could be frequent or infrequent - mostly it depends on your needs.
The Cow Hollow area is surrounded by some of the best neighborhoods for shopping, dining, walking ... just across Van Ness is the Polk St area, then a bit further west is Pacific Heights with some of the most fantastic homes in all of San Francisco. More to the north (toward the Golden Gate bridge), you'll find the Marina and Chestnut street, Crissy Field and the Golden Gate Bridge ... What I've always loved about living in this neighborhood is the variety of people you meet - it has the energy of the young people, the stability of the longer term residents and always exciting restaurants, shopping or just sitting on my front steps in the sun!
At the corner of Van Ness and Union Streets, there are frequent buses that can take you downtown to Union Square, to a convenient BART station (on Van Ness & Market), and on weekends to Rodeo Beach in Marin. Additional bus service is available which can take you to Marin and onto Santa Rosa.
I like to provide a light breakfast - at least on your first day here - coffee/tea, croissants, juice. Please let me know what you prefer. I do have a small dog, Izzy, who is very friendly.
There aren't a lot of 'rules,'. No smoking and no pets. If you want to cook, please remember to cut things on the cutting board, not on the butcher-block table. When you have dirty dishes, either wash them and put them in the drainer or in the dishwasher. And please put your wet towels, etc., on the racks in the bathroom or hang them on the back of your bedroom door. Please don't put wet/damp towels on furniture. Also, if you use any products that might stain, please ask me for a different set of towels (white) so none of the guest linens are stained.
The bedroom door leads directly to the hallway, with the bathroom just a few steps away.
Alexandra was a fantastic host. She left nothing for me to question and thought of all the accommodations I would need. Her home was beautiful and cozy. Truly felt like I was vacationing in my own home.
Alexandra is a terrific human being and incredibly welcoming! She made sure I was comfortable and lacked nothing. The place was exactly as pictured and the apartment was absolutely fantastic. She has great art on the walls and this location cannot be beat. I look forward to staying there again.
I really enjoyed meeting Alexandra. She has made her room into a cozy little getaway spot with a generous desk and a very luxurious bed. Her place is in a very convenient location and I found I could take public transportation to get around town very easily. Her little dog is very dear and well behaved.
Overall this was a great stay. From the very beginning of the booking process, Alex was SO ACCOMMODATING! The room was exactly as listed, if not nicer. She gave me a full tour of her home upon my arrival, and even gave a little Earthquake Tutorial (that as a New Yorker, I had not even THOUGHT about prior to arrival). The place was clean, bright and homey. Even her dog, Izzy, was friendly and welcomed me home each and every time I entered. Alex was friendly, personable, and available with any questions I could possibly have. Plus the location was ideal, and a quick walk to public transportation, bars, and restaurants.
I had a wonderful time with Alex! She is extremely welcoming- she makes you feel like her home is really your home, which is such a nice feeling at the end of a long day. The room was just as lovely as pictured, and the bed is literally one of the most comfortable and luxurious I have ever slept in! I loved that the house has the Victorian feel you come to expect from San Francisco. Plus, the location is amazing- you're so close to shops and restaurants on Russian Hill and Cow Hollow, and to the cable car, Lombard, and the wharf. I highly recommend staying here!
I feel very fortunate to have found Alex and her home. She welcomed me from a set of very long and exhausting flights, helped me secure parking since it was late at night, and oriented me to the apartment and neighborhood, with great recommendations for places to eat, etc. The room was lovely--just as pictured--and the bed was super comfortable! I was in and out of the apartment all weekend with no issues, and felt very comfortable. The neighborhood was safe, and everything was very accessible. I highly recommend staying here.
What a treat to stay with Alex on a business trip. The room is just like it looks in the photos and was so comfy. You will feel like a good friend prepared the room for you. The sheets were so soft and there are fluffy towels in the bathroom. Alex is so welcoming and has all the little touches to make you comfortable. I walked to the Fort Mason Center every day. You can see the north tower of the bridge from her kitchen window. She is in a great location and I was lucky to be able to stay with her. I don't want to gush too much because the room won’t be available on my next trip.
About the Host, Alexandra
I'm a professional business woman, working in the Organization Development/Change Management fields. I also provide personal and professional coaching. I play a lot of tennis, love good food - not 'fancy' food - just good simple food. I hope to do more traveling in the future, i.e., England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany .... i.e., mostly Europe right now!!
I love where I live and enjoy meeting new people - from neighboring cities or far-away destinations! I speak limited French, am learning Italian and am fluent in "American English"! I hope you'll find me to be a warm and cordial host and I will try to make your stay here enjoyable.
By the way, I do have a small, quiet & friendly dog ... Izzy is part border collie & something little. She's about 12 years, very enthusiastic and loves people!
Enjoy your visit to San Francisco! I'll work hard to answer your questions, give good suggestions and be available to meet your needs!
I'm looking forward to meeting you!
