Hello lovers, my name is Kalae! I travel a lot so from time to time I rent out my bed room. I live in a spacious 2 bedroom in Morning Side Heights with a view of St.John the Divine Property with my mother Anna, who is co-hosting with me. We live just 3 blocks from the 1 and B/C lines, less than 5min walks to Morningside Park, Central Park and Riverside Park, 24hour drug store, grocery store and deli's, plenty of bars for night time fun, american apparel, every bank that has a branch, organic deli, grocery and dry cleaners, 10min walk to whole foods.. hmm Im sure Im missing some things. My neighborhood is amazing. Im across the street from St. John the Divine and a 5 min walk from Columbia University. Tom's Restaurant from Seinfield is less than 5mins away.. Ok back to the APT. There is free breakfast! WiFi! A bathroom! Ok, I guess there should be a bathroom. There is a mural wall, an upright piano and an acoustic guitar. Does that sweeten the deal? Come enjoy my cozy queen size bed!
Pretty much everything.
Interaction with Guests
I try to keep a good balance of friendliness and respecting boundaries.
So easy, lots of trains and buses in these parts.
Other Things to Note
There's a laundry mat in the building.
There aren't a million rules but I would appreciate a neat person that will respect and honor the space. It is my bed room so please breed love and light during your stay. You can burn candles, incense, sage, but please dont fill the house with toxic aromatics. I have a cat but unfortunately my building doesn't allow new pets so for all you animal lovers, you can play with my kitty!
Kalae and her mother Anna are the sweetest persons, easy to get along with and flexible. The room is beautiful and the bed is oh so comfortable, I slept like a log, and I really like the neighbourhood. Be prepared that the flat might be a bit crowded, though, and there's only one bathroom (and not necessarily breakfast, but there's a really nice cafe at Amsterdam street that Anna told me about, perfect for me and my laptop) - so I'll just recommend a stay to likewise nice and flexible people as the hosts.
It's really a good experience here ~ very clean and artistic room ~ and also have a good view! And Anna is very warm-hearted ~ I do enjoyed our morning walk in the central park ^ ^
Being accommodated at Kaela's room has been a really good experience. The location of the flat is excellent. She and her mother live in a lovely flat in the uptown in Manhatan just 5 minutes away from Central Park and the subway station. I've been in a warm and clean room which made me feel myself as in my own home. Kaela and Anna (her mother) keenly suggested me the best jazz-soul places in the city among other interesting places to visit.
To conclude, I've spent a nice time in New York thanks to Kaela and Anna too.
I highly recommend this room to everyone who wants to visit NY.
Staying with Kalae was just awesome. Within moments after reaching her place, I was at home and had the same feeling till the last moment. Her mom was a great host too and was ever so helpful. The location is pretty decent, two blocks from the subway and lots of food options around. To sum up, I would say I had a wondeful trip and would definitely stay here again!
I arrived well after midnight, but Kalae's mom was waiting up for me and offered me a cup of tea. The room was comfortable, with a great view of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine that I saw in the morning. Basic lodging, good location.
I had a really great time in NYC thanks to Kalae & her mother Anna! They were really helpful and friendly, and yet keep the boundary. The room was very comfortable, and even has Sri Lakshmi! :) I definitely recommend them and if I have a chance to visit again, I would love to stay with them again! Thank you very much :)
Ha sido la primera vez que uso airbnb y estoy muy contenta. Kalae es una anfitriona maravillosa. Te hace sentir muy cómoda, como en casa. Todo es igual que en las fotografías. Un 10.

Im a free-lance multi-media Artist. I volunteer at the Open Center in midtown. I have my own Jewelry line and a few albums under my belt. I love meeting new people, traveling/touring and performing. I look forward to opening up my home to nomad's such as myself.
5things I cant live without.
Well first of all, its not an issue what you cant take with you.
BUT, I cant live with out LOVE, MUSIC, SEAFOOD, RESPECT and BREATH.
My style of AirBnB hosting is laid back, friendly and chatty when the situation arises. I would be helpful in recommendations for places to visit/see/experience especially if you're an artist and can benefit from my expertise!
My favorite place I've ever traveled is.. wow this is really hard-every place has been so special. I recently traveled to Peru and finally have stamps on my passport from 5 continents! MY favorite book iiissss, The Alchemist. Easy read. Deep, philosophical, heart felt, beautifully written. My favorite movie.. ehh I can maybe give you a rough draft of a top five--lets start with Pulp Fiction.. Kill Bill.. Really anything Quentin Tarinto makes.. The Matrix.. Young Frankenstein and ScarFace. That was off the top of my head. I also really love old Black&White films. My favorite TV shows include but are not limited to SeinField, Sex and The City, Family Guy and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Im a sitcom girl. Music; I love everything but some of my fave's are Jimi Hendrix, Erykah Badu, Nikka Costa, Esthero and The Roots. That was the REAL short fave's list. Last but not least, food. Anything from the SEA works for me ;).
My life motto is hakunamattata. :D Its a problem free philosophy :)
