  • Riad Azza was by far the most friendly and enjoyable place I ever stayed at - both its very welcoming and helpful hosts and the calm space of the riad and its rooms itself with a very elegant discreet local décor. Small details during our stay made us feel very special and everything was extremely comfortable, convincing and very clean. Not to forget the roof terrace with many plants and birds – a little oasis in the middle of the Medina.
Joelle and Claude are very kind people. Claude even picked us up at the airport and Joelle welcomed us with a warm cloth to clean our hands and thé à la menthe - we felt very privileged. They both and Gauta, who also was very kind and attentive, really made us feel at home during our stay, even though – it was so much better than at home ☺ Joelle and Claude also provided us with good tips for dinner and places to see – the perfect hosts!
Riad Azza is a fantastic hidden riad behind a simple door in an alleyway – an open house with open-minded interesting hosts - go and see for yourself ☺

Thank you Joelle and Claude - we will be back!

  • accueil très chaleureux et attentif . Riad confortable et d'une décoration suffisamment marocaine mais pas trop

  • Claude and Joelle are very gracious hosts. The Riad itself is very simple in decor, with a monochromatic palette. You will appreciate this after bright and colorful days exploring Marrackech.

The rooms are the traditional long and narrow format that you will find in old houses all over the medina. They are very clean and simply furnished. Each room has its own hot water heater that is small but runs very hot. It is enough for a solid shower, and reheats very quickly for a second user.

They offer palatable wine and beer for purchase at reasonable prices. They also offered us delicious roasted nuts at bedtime every evening. One evening their shared a delicious bowl of soup with us that was much appreciated!

The breakfast at the riad is bread intensive: either crepes or cake served with honey, fig jam and orange marmalade. They also offer an additional basket of bread and butter. They do offer a small jogurt as well and fresh pressed orange juice and coffee. Breakfast service is prompt and fresh. Personally, I would have enjoyed if an egg was offered, or some other fresh fruit, but you are steps away from food outside your door, in the medina. We often brought home strawberries and apples for snacking.

On several of the days during our stay we brought home fresh green and vegetables and Aicha, the cook in the kitchen helped us prepare a salad. Having some food to prepare at "home" helped us feel more rooted and relaxed. It was uncomplicated and sweet.

Be aware, there is an occasional waft of sewer gas that comes up through the shower drain the rooms. I think it is indicative of plumbing in the old city. I do not hold this against the hosts in any way.

Claude and Joelle are intelligent warm and charming people who are eager to assist you in any way. They are curious and like to talk, if your are open to socializing, but also respect your privacy if you want to rest.

Claude showed us the way to a local pizzeria, about 5 minutes from the Riad Azza. The fresh pressed pineapple juice is wonderful, as are all of the offerings from their wood fire oven. There is also a cash machine only seven minutes walk from the Riad which made getting money very easy.

Riad Azza is a very decent place run by helpful people. Please do come and visit them!

Thank you Claude, Joelle, Aicha and Rachid!
