The space
Welcome to the Escanaba River Retreat. 8 minutes from Cornell, 28 minutes from Escanaba & Gladstone, find your way down a dead end gravel road and long shared driveway that meanders through the woods. Turning left at the fork, the tall trees open up to a big, open yard. Here sits the cabin on 13 acres on the banks of the wide river. With one neighbor down river, hidden by the woods, find the ultimate in privacy with the security of having other people within walking distance.
As you walk down to the banks of the river, you can just barely see one home across the way and much further down river. The view is the sparkling river, the trees, the sun & moon rises over the river, the bald eagles, the blue herons, the fish jumping, the deer walking by...

Sit on the back deck with your morning coffee or tea & just listen to the birds singing, the river flowing, the leaves shaking in the wind. In the colder months, enjoy sitting by the fire, curl up with a good book or find the ultimate space to write your own.

Neighborhood highlights

Our cabin is in on 13 acres in the country situated on the banks of the Escanaba River, right in front of many great fishing spots. We have one immediate neighbor just downriver, who we cannot see due to the forest between our homes, though they are close enough to walk there to visit. There is public river access down river from us, so we meet some great fishermen walking along the river who enjoy chatting about fishing. This property is mostly very quiet, private and serene. It's a great spot for watching eagles, blue herons, deer and other wildlife on and around the river. I love to walk up river along the banks of the river. There is not a home for many miles. We often take our kayaks 5 minutes up the road and love floating down to our cabin. It's a 45 minute journey if you don't stop to fish, swim or explore the waterfalls and have a picnic. On this stretch of river, there are very few homes or people to see.
