The “Vico del Poeta” is some B&B and some guesthouse: the original idea was to create a place with which satisfy all kinds of request. Long or brief stays, summer vacations or cultural stays for a week end. The main building is located in the historic centre of Assisi and offers to its guests two mini-apartments. The hospitality is characterized by an important component of kindness. Guests know that they can ask for our help in every moment: we are helpful but discreet. The apartments (close to the main square and to all the most important monuments) are in a quiet but suggestive alleyway.
Lignum is the first and bigger of our studio apartments.
It's a 40 square meters local style apartment.
The large fireplace resides in the middle of the room in front of the comfortable double bed, to which add one extra single bed or a cot. The Terra-cotta tile floors and the exposed beam ceiling completes the ambiance. The kitchen is equipped with a stove top, refrigerator and everything you need to prepare your meals. The bathroom has a sink, bidet, toilet and box shower. The adjacent laundry room is equipped with a sink, washing machine and drying rack. Of course there is a private entrance to the apartment.
The Vico has its strong point being in the same time very close to everything and in the real historical centre but also in a secondary alleyway really intimate and quiet. You feel like at home, an very relaxing home.
Via Jorgensen is a quiet and intimate alley just below the Rocca Maggiore, the ancient castle on the top of the hill where Assisi is located.
We are in the middle of the way, on the back of the church of Santa Maria delle Rose.
The danish poet J. Jorgesen chosed this small thoroughfare for his long Assisian stay.
Going trough the ancient arch (early medieval) in front of our structure, probably an ancient gate to the original village you find the nice belvedere of Santa Maria delle Rose: take a break to look to the beautiful landscape.
A few steps away down there is the cathedral of San Rufino: the frontage of the church (in particular the rose window) is one of the most known image of this town.
A rich presence of ancient details characterizes this area: we are going to meet the original core of the first roman colony, Piazza del Comune.
Go down by Via San Rufino: it's a short walk...
Here's the main square, the true heart of Assisi: the fountain, the municipal buildings and the roman temple of Minerva.
We only ask the respect of the usual rules of cohabitation.
The check-in is from 14.30
The check-out is before 11.00.
Stefano welcomed us warmly and gave us the lowdown on the apartment and Assisi. This information was really helpful and this made our stay very relaxing. The apartment was beautiful, just as described on Airbnb with all the facilities needed for a restful stay. The apartment was in a central location and easy to find using Stefanos wonderful written and pictorial instructions.
What can I say? This was one of my best B&B experience ever. The place has such character and charm...exactly as it looks in the pictures. And Stefano was such a great host. He picked me up from the train station and then took me back again when I left. The B&B is tucked away towards the top of the city, which makes it a nice place to get away from the busyness of everything going on below you. Stefano pointed out the best routes to take on the map and was available for any questions I had. And there was enough food each morning for me to tuck some away in my luggage for my train ride to Venice. A couple nights in an ancient building, complete with rooster crowing...who could ask for more! I hope to come back to Assisi someday and hope to stay at Il Vico del Poeta when I do...this time for a bit longer though!
One could not hope for a better host that Stefano. He picked us up from the railway station, gave us tips on where to visit, eat and shop. Breakfast was fabulous, the room was comfortable, clean and facilities easy to operate. Anything asked for was never an issue. He then took us back to the railway station. One of the most comfortable stays I have experienced. I hope I can return one day. Thank you Stefano for making Assisi memorable.
Esperienza veramente bella. Stefano è stato gentilissimo nel soddisfare ogni nostra esigenza "extra". L'appartamento è curatissimo nei dettagli e molto accogliente.
Ottimo anche il cestino con la colazione. Sicuramente ci torneremo!
Stefano, was an excellent host! He provided the best airbnb experience I've ever had. Prior to our arrival Stefano sent me very helpful information about the location and ways to get to his place and he was even willing to come pick us up from the train station and drop us off. I highly recommend reading carefully his helpful directions and maps to his place as Assisi can be a bit confusing to get around in.
The place was exactly as described; very clean, cozy, and comfortable. Each morning we had a wonderful basket of food waiting for us outside our door. Stefano was always willing to help out in any way and he provided us with a number of good suggestions of places to see during our visit to Assisi.
We will definitely try to stay with Stefano again on our next visit to Assisi.
This apartment is perfect. The location is fantastic. It's well equipped. Surprisingly spacious. It was very charming. And very clean.
Stefano was an excellent host. He went above and beyond to make our stay the best possible experience. You can tell that he really tries his best. He's very professional but also makes you feel at home. He volunteered to pick us up from the airport. There was a fantastic breakfast left at our door when we woke up. He let us store our bags at the apartment after check out since our train didn't leave until 2:30pm. He then also volunteered to drive us down to the train station.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We look forward to staying here again!
Stefano was an outstanding host. He went above and beyond in so many ways, including taking us to and from the station. His hospitality was gratefully received and his love for Assisi well placed. I highly recommend this beautiful and gentle town with a host to match. Mille Grazie

Hi, I'm Stefano and I'm the host of "Il Vico del Poeta", a small guest house in the centre of Assisi, town of peace and magic atmospheres.
It's a long time I wanted to create a place through which share my qualities, using the house, and the unique place where I live as a picture frame. I like to talk with people and discover new point of views coming from the world and I like when I see my guests satisfied for their choice (because I know that I'm part of that choice): in a few words, when I see happy people around me.
I think details make the difference; to make a job with passion probably is not enough but it's the first step in “a well-done job”.
My idea was to keep close what I love (my family, art, my home) exploiting the possibilities offered by the place where I live: in short to create a kindly and familiar way to give hospitality. Added to this I liked the possibility to preserve a place, a historical building full of memories, sharing with people some of those memories. My advice is the free mingling with the local colours, even if for few days or few hours: to be a traveller, not a tourist (because each of us is in his small a traveller).
Assisi has many different and interesting faces: going around without a strict plane, carried away by the maze of streets is the best way to find our self and bringing back home an amazing quietness.
Each person has the possibility to express an own private desire because everything here, including the stone, seems as having an answer, a suggestion for soul.
Here you can enjoy even just look to the sky.
Every word is a whisper and the time seems really rest.
