The Space

Fully furnished studio apartment. Full bath and kitchen. Full size bed and possible additional foam bed if needed. Originally built as an in-law unit. No TV. Wi-fi and Wired internet. Private entrance. Near Stanford and the Silicon Valley. No smoking. No pets. Bus to Stanford one block away. Cafe and grocery about 0.4mi away, an easy walk through suburban streets.

Street parking. We need to guide you to the best parking ideas, depending on the day and time. No reserved parking spaces. This is an urban setting in our area, so parking can be competitive.

Very close to Hwy. 101 if your destination involves driving. About half way between the San Jose airport and San Francisco International Airport. Many restaurants and stores about one mile away, on the stretch of University Ave. that is the commercial district for Stanford University. Easy bicycle ride to Stanford. Very bicycle friendly area. It's flat, and there are bicycle lanes everywhere.

We live in the adjoining house and are more than happy to give you ideas for food, sights, entertainment. You can feel free to harvest and eat greens from the garden. Our chickens may have an egg or two to offer up, as well!

The Neighborhood

This is a great neighborhood. Close to downtown Palo Alto and an easy, walk to Cal Train. Also close to bus stop, too. We are across the street from San Francisquito Creek, so there are lots of gorgeous trees and nature.

  • The studio was a really nice place. It was clean and comfortable. The location is convenient - close to a bus stop, where you can get on a bus to the downtown and train station.

Robin is a really good host. She even gave us their home grown chicken's eggs, which were delicious. We had a great experience.

  • Robin and Damon's studio was perfect. It was comfortable, quiet and had everything one could need. They even made extra accommodations to meet our needs. The were easy to communicate with and extremely kind. The studio is in a great location too. We went on a beautiful walk down university ave!

  • At the last minute we had to cancel our trip so I can't comment on the space itself. But I do want to compliment Robin for her flexibility and communication regarding our time of arrival and departure; she responded promptly to my requests and was courteous and very helpful throughout.

  • Great experience on Retreat here! I needed a getaway spot to relax and prepare for a work event, and this was the perfect place. The setting is very private, and the studio opens onto a rustic patio with a lovely natural garden. It felt like being "away from it all." Though there are apartment buildings over the wall the night was perfectly quiet. Robin was very responsive to my reservation request and offered great suggestions for nearby outings and food. The studio was perfectly clean and felt very spacious. I would definitely stay again, and recommend to family visiting the area. The price is excellent for this incredibly expensive town. And the location is extremely convenient to 101 and downtown Palo Alto.

  • Hospitable hosts and a quiet, comfortable studio with a leafy garden. Robin gave me fresh eggs from their chicken house! Mmmm! Nuts and coffee from trader Joes. Had a great stay!

  • We arrived a little later than expected on a Saturday at about 1am, and Robin kindly stayed up to greet us and show us the room. She was exceptionally sweet and thoughtful, even leaving us bags of trail mix and nuts along with coffee for the morning. I'd recommend this cute studio to any friend visiting Palo Alto.

  • Robin was an excellent hostess who went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. The space is big and looks just like the images.

About
I am a native Californian. I lived the first half of my life in Los Angeles and gratefully moved to San Francisco in 1990. It's awesome. I love theatre, storytelling, dancing, juggling, fresh, home cooked food. I have an urban farming business and help families and communities grow food. We have 3 amazing Farmer's Markets every Sunday morning a short drive away. A foodies heaven (esp. in the summer and fall!) My husband, Damon, is an alternative physician - a very creative and inspired healer. We enjoy travelling and meeting new people and are always excited to have folks enjoy our awesome studio and garden.
