Conveniently located between I-5 and Highway 99, our home is minutes away from Northgate Mall (food and shopping), Northwest Hospital, and North Seattle Community College. It's a quick 10-minute drive to both the University of Washington and downtown Seattle. We are an easy walking distance from many bus lines (346, 358 and the 510 Express to Seattle to name a few).
Our guest bedroom has a queen-sized bed that comfortably fits one or two people, and a desk for those that need to study. The bathroom is located in the hallway, and is shared. Our style is low-key, clean and comfortable.
We will provide:
- Clean linens (sheets, blankets, pillows and towels)
- Tea and Coffee
- Free parking space
- A light breakfast of toast, cereal and fruit.
Other amenities include:
- Access to our fully-equipped kitchen
- Space in our fridge (upon request)
- Access to laundry (feel free to use our detergent)
Lauren is home most days with our easy-going very happy son. He is 18 months old and as the guest room is near his room, we can't promise complete silence from him. Also, he is usually awake between 7:00 -7:30am in the mornings. But if you are a deep sleeper or need to be up early anyway this might be a good fit.
Upon arrival we will greet you at the door, give you a tour of the house and a key. From that point on you are free to come and go as you please.
We look forward to hosting you!
Felt like home at Joe and Laurens home. Thanks for the great stay and the delicious muffins in the morning!!
Lauren and Joe were super hosts!! Thanks, guys! I'll be getting in touch next time I visit Seattle and need a place to crash!
Joe & Lauren were very great hosts. The room was perfect and clean. Lauren made breakfast for us, it was very nice and delicious. Their little boy is adorable. We definitely recommend their place.
At first I was hesitant to stay in a smaller apartment with a baby, being a writer who enjoys silence. But, I have to say I was not the least bit disturbed. The Stengele's are a very sweet and accommodating couple. And the bed was super comfortable!
Very pleasant evening and my first airbnb experience. I probably kept them up too late with my wild stories adventure and travel. Everything about the place was exactly as as described and expected. I certainly would do this again if they would have me. February, 2013.
If you're visiting Seattle, this is great place to stay! I was moving to Seattle and stayed with Joe and Lauren while I found a place to live. It's blocks away from the main highway in Seattle, i5. The house is very cute, clean and comfortable. The room is great too. It has a big comfy bed, a desk, and lots of interesting books to read. Joe and Lauren are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and their son is absolutely adorable. I ended up staying with them for 4 nights, and every morning Lauren left breakfast out for me :) They let me do laundry and store a few things in their fridge doing my stay and were basically perfect hosts. I would definitely stay here again and I completely recommend it.
Joe and Lauren are super nice people and their baby is adorable. The rental room is wonderful--in fact might be the nicest room in the house. Great bed, handy desk, very clean, comfortable. They are easygoing friendly people who care about your stay. The baby did wake me a few times each night. The house is small and he's got good lungs. :) He was teething at the time. I am however a light sleeper--as their ad states, a heavier sleeper who wakes early should be just fine. The street is busy, but your room actually faces away from that side and I didn't hear traffic at all. Again--best room in the house!
My other issue is I was cold at night, but I may be a special case. I live in Arizona and get cold super easy; I keep my own house at 72 degrees. :) They turned the heat on for me the first night; next night i brought in a space heater and was much happier. Me and Seattle fall/winter just don't mix! That's not their fault. Any house in Seattle in winter where people turn the heat down at night is hard for me (and most people do).
The biggest reason I gave them 5 stars is the way Lauren actually approached ME in a friendly concerned way to ask if Kai was keeping me up at night. She really wanted to know, and was so open to feedback about it, changing their ad etc. My experience (on AirBnB and really throughout life) is most people won't invite or create an opening like that, seek feedback and make it easy for you to give it. Most people don't want to hear stuff, and it's up to the you to broach it if you want to raise an issue. I love when people are receptive and nondefensive like this. She just really cared and was so relaxed. She was also leaving early in the morning with Kai so I could sleep later! Her manner was so generous and thoughtful that, given the lovely room and proximity to my friends, I would totally stay here again (and use earplugs and a space heater :) ) (Seriously, I think I am the exception on both those things so don't hesitate to stay with Joe and Lauren.) This is a well priced room in a nice part of North Seattle.
Loved my time here! As someone who travels all over the world, it is incredible to find a place with people who make you feel so at home! Joe & Lauren were incredible hosts, greeting me as I arrived earlier than I had anticipated, even making sure I had something to eat after I missed lunch! They prepared breakfast in the morning and took some time out of their day to talk, hear about my story and tell a bit about themselves - so warm and friendly!
The house itself is just as advertised, clean, cozy, and a place you feel like you could spend time comfortably! The room they offer is definitely large enough for two and has plenty of space to hang things in the closet (suits, etc.) and even a desk to set up a temporary office space or just to get caught up on e-mails and social media before hopping into bed for the night. The bed (by the way) is really comfortable and provides for probably the best sleep I get anywhere away from home!
I've also got to mention that the house is incredibly convenient for both regional transit and for the rental car I used while I was in town, perfect for anyone who might need to get into Seattle, head north to Everett, or get to the Edmonds Ferry - which is just a quick drive away. Another quick note - even though it was on a main thoroughfare and close to I-5, it was really quiet!
The only thing I wish i could have changed about my stay was the amount of time I spent in Seattle and especially with the wonderful hosts - I'll definitely be going back next time I'm in town!
