Cusco is a very safe city. Not that you have to walk with your cameras and iPhones on hand, but it is relatively a very safe city. Almost everything could be done by walking. And walking to the main attractions, Main Square, museums and places to visit is not a problem. The house is located in a safe gated street at 6 blocks walking distance from the Plaza.
December to February is rainy season, so come prepare.
June and July is the busiest and coldest season. Plan ahead of time and purchase your tickets on line in advance.
Besides your visit to the wonderful Machu Picchu Sanctuary -which it could be done in one full day - there are other daily tours to consider. Please inquire if interested. Cusco is more than Machu Picchu and a visit is not really complete if you don't visit the Sacred Valled (Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, Maras Moray, Tipon and others).
Interaction with Guests
If you wish that I arrange you a pick up from the airport, please let me know when making your reservation and up to 48 hours before your arrival. I work with a professional driver who often pick up all my guests. Besides this room I rent out three cottages for up to 5 people each - so I have to use someone that I trust and which credentials have been checked ahead of time.
Hiring a taxi at the airport is not a problem. There are a lot, one more expensive than the other. Detailed instructions to come to my place are printed in your reservation papers, and my house is only 10 minutes away from the airport.
But you will be saving some money if you decide to use my driver instead of any taxi at the airport. I heard some taxi drivers have charged up to USD $40 to some of my earlier guests. My driver only charges 20 soles, which is an approximately of USD $7.
To coordinate the pick up, I will need the following: FLIGHT COMPANY + FLIGHT NUMER + EXACT ARRIVAL TIME INTO CUSCO AIRPORT.
Please note that this service is only available from the airport, not the bus station or any other place in or outside the city.
Once the pick up is arranged, my driver will go to the airport with a sign on hand. The sign will have your name on it.
Please be considerate with him if your flight is delayed for more than 40 minutes or if it is postponed or cancelled. A tip on top of his fare will be most appreciated by him.
You will need to pay him directly upon arrival to my house.
The house is in a cul-de-sac, very quiet and very safe street. Not that the neighborhood is not safe, but it feel just extra safer having to access a gate to enter in the street in which my house is located.
My house/offce is not right in the busy touristic center but neither too far, it is just six blocks away (walking distance). If you are like many of my previous guests, living in this part of the city will make you feel more “involved” in real local life than if you were to stay in a crowed youth hostel near Plaza de Armas. As well, there are plenty of places all the same, for tourists who like to drink beers and go to Starbucks for coffee. .
There are two supermarkets half a block away from the house, and plenty of local businesses (pharmacies, bakeries, restaurants).
AIRPORT PICK UP AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please note that we can arrange our driver to go to the airport to pick you up if you provide us with your flight information at least 24 hours in advance of your arrival.
This service is not included in your reservation and therefore you will have to pay the driver directly upon arrival.
The cost of this service is 20 soles, which is an approximate USD $7 and it will be much less than if you were to get a taxi at the airport on your own.
Please inquire if interested.
Other Things to Note
May thru August is considered "high season". This means that you should plan your trip in advance. If you come to Cusco with "nothing" organized or booked, you take the chance of paying much more than the regular prices or not finding what you need.
Unless you are doing any of the three treks: Inka Trail, Salkantay Trek or Lares Trek, you could only go to Machu Picchu by train, so the first thing to do is to purchase your tickets online. You will also need the entrance ticket to the Sanctuary in Machu Picchu and the round trip bus from/to Aguas Calientes to the Sanctuary. These two things can be purchased upon arrival if you cannot purchase them online.
Trains to Machu Picchu depart from two different stations: Poroy & Ollantaytambo. Poroy is only 20 minutes outside Cusco. Ollantaytambo is 2 hours. Therefore tickets to/from Ollantaytambo are a little cheaper.
From/to Ollantaytambo you will have to take a minivan.
I offer some tour options -including Machu Picchu- that I will be sending to you for your information. These other tours can be reserved with 24 hours in advance.
CHECK IN STARTS AT 12PM
CHECK OUT ENDS BY 10AM.
If your flight comes or leaves earlier or later than these times, please let me know ahead of time. If I do not have a conflicting guest or personal issue, you will be able to leave your bags later or earlier than these times.

Monica was great! She speaks great English and is extremely helpful in planning. The breakfast is good and the room is quiet and very clean.
Monica is a very organized, knowledgeable and kind host! She arranged my pickup from the airport and other transportations during my stay. She gave me a map with all the important places and provided great information related to the area. The room is just as described - clean, very cozy and quiet. I would definitely recommend Monica and her apartment!
Monica is a wonderful hostess! She made the arrangements to have me picked up at the airport in the early morning, and also arranged for the driver to pick me up at 4:00 in the morning to catch my flight out! I enjoyed having Monica's company for breakfast, and she offered a lot of suggestions for places to go and things to do. The room is exactly as pictured, and I even had exclusive use of the bathroom, since I was the only guest there at the time. The location of Monica's place is perfect; on a quiet street that is easy walking distance to the local market and the Plaza de Armes.
Monica was an absolutely exceptional host!! It was a pleasure to spend my time in Cusco with such a warm, attentive, and personable host. The accommodation was very comfortable and homey. I highly recommend it to others.
I had a very comfortable stay with Monica at her place in Cusco, and she also provided a taxi service to/from the airport which was very helpful. She was very flexible with these arrangements too. There was also a constant supply of coca leaf tea to help with the altitude sickness. Would certainly recommend staying with Monica, whether you are going on to visit Machu Picchu or otherwise.
Monica was very helpful she arranged my pick up and accommodated my early arrival too and drop off at the airport 5am ( I traveled alone)Every morning she prepared a delicious breakfast with tea, juice and coffee. She also provided me with maps of Cusco and arranged some tours for me before my Machu Picchu hike. I was able to leave my belongings there while I was away on my hike which was a great help. Home is very clean and nicely arranged, clean towel provided and warm blankets. Overall enjoyed my stay and her insight and assistance on getting around made it that much better..
