Linda habitacion privada para una sola persona. Incluye Desayuno Americano y una excelente conexion inalambrica de internet (Wi-Fi).
The house is a classic design 2 bedroom on a residential area in Cusco. It is bright and clean with hardwood floors. It is tastefully furnished and located in a well maintained residential area of Cusco. This is a pet and family friendly area.
This guest bedroom for one is offered for 2 day minimum stays. You'll be enjoying a lovely room on the first floor, which includes a private room. This space is fully furnished with a twin size bed, cotton linens, cotton towels, two nightstands, and a chair. If you rather prefer having a desk/table with chair, please let me know. I will take the big chair out and place a desk/table for you. The room has a facing window with dark curtains for better sleep. In addition, you'll also have access to the rest of the house space--kitchen, bathroom, living room, dining area, and patio.
Your room is small but very comfortable. Intended for young individuals or single traveler. It is for one person only.
The kitchen is vintage style, and it is well equipped with a gas range and aluminum sink. The microwave and fridge are newer. The refrigerator is huge so storing your food should not be a problem. There is no automatic dishwasher.
The living room is large and comfortably furnished.
High speed wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available throughout the entire place. Utilities are included and respectful use of power is requested (e.g. turn off the lights in your room when you're going to be out).
Houses in Cusco are not steam heated but all rooms have curtains and I provide cotton sheets, two alpaca blankets, a feeder comforter and an extra cotton blanket per bed, for extra warm at night. Temperatures drop at night, but it never gets too cold like in other countries.
The bathroom is right outside facing the bedroom. High pressure hot water shower is available 24/7 in the shower and in the sink. I will always provide towels.
CURRENCY and EXCHANGE RATE
The currency in Peru is EL NUEVO SOL. The exchange rate is approximately USD 1= S/. 2.77 If you bring American dollars or Euros, do not exchange them in airports or banks. Their exchange rate will be lower of what you could get in the streets, here in Cusco. However, and this is important, if you bring US dollars, make sure you bring NEW BILLS. All damaged or broken bills won’t be accepted in Cusco
Interaction with Guests
My reviews speak loud and therefore you could have a sense of how comfortable you would be by staying in my house. I am careful at not invading your personal space and privacy and therefore, after our initial informative meeting at check-in time I try to not interfere too much so you could feel at home and comfortable. However I take care of my guests and their comfort and if they need anything I try to help as much as I can within my possibilities. I live in the house, so I am available for whatever you may need.
For those in need of touristic option (including Machu Picchu) I offer a guide and provide help getting everything ready for you. Simply requested it from me, if this is your case, prior or right after your arrival date.
Breakfast is yummy. I provide with an American Breakfast served around 8am, daily (coffee, tea, herbal teas, omelets, local bread, juice made of local fruits), butter and marmalade. I often like to add something different to it and occasionally I like to switch the omelets for a fruit salad with yogurt and honey.
If you need pick up from the airport, let me know. I provide with detailed information with the directions to my house, but often, I received this type of requests. Coming to a foreign city like Cusco could be anxiety provoking to some and therefore I understand if you request that I go to pick you up. Simply provide me with your flight company, arrival time and I will be there. Please note that you will have to pay for taxi going there and coming back from the airport (approximately USD $15).
The house is in a cul-de-sac, very quiet and very safe street. Not that the neighborhood is not safe, but it feel just extra safer having to access a gate to enter in the street in which my house is located.
My house is not right in the busy touristic center but neither too far, it is just six blocks away (walking distance). If you are like many of my previous guests, living in this part of the city will make you feel more “involved” in real local life than if you were to stay in a crowed youth hostel near Plaza de Armas. As well, there are plenty of places all the same, for tourists who like to drink beers and go to Starbucks for coffee. .
There are two supermarkets half a block away from the house, and plenty of local businesses (pharmacies, bakeries, restaurants).
A week prior to your arrival I will be emailing detailed directions in English and in Spanish to get to my house easily. If you need pick up from the airport, please let me know. I offer this service for an extra charge. So please inquire if interested.
Other Things to Note
May thru August is considered "high season". This means that you should plan your trip in advance. If you come to Cusco with "nothing" organized or booked, you take the chance of paying much more than the regular prices or not finding what you need.
Unless you are doing any of the three treks: Inka Trail, Salkantay Trek or Lares Trek, you could only go to Machu Picchu by train, so the first thing to do is to purchase your tickets online. You will also need the entrance ticket to the Sanctuary in Machu Picchu and the round trip bus from/to Aguas Calientes to the Sanctuary. These two things can be purchased upon arrival if you cannot purchase them online.
Trains to Machu Picchu depart from two different stations: Poroy & Ollantaytambo. Poroy is only 20 minutes outside Cusco. Ollantaytambo is 2 hours. Therefore tickets to/from Ollantaytambo are a little cheaper.
From/to Ollantaytambo you will have to take a minivan.
I offer some tour options -including Machu Picchu- that I will be sending to you for your information. These other tours can be reserved with 24 hours in advance.
NO VISITORS / NO SLEEPOVERS
I had a great host during my stay in Cusco. I stayed at Monica's B&B before and after visiting Machupichu. I got very sick after coming back from Machupichu to Cusco and had to stay one more night. Fortunately there was a room available at her place so I put off my flight and had a rest.
Thanks to her hospitality and helpful advice, I got better next day and took a flight to another destination.
She was always caring and I enjoyed her heartwarming hospitality.
I had a great experience staying with Monica. She is very thorough and gives you great suggestions of things to do in Cusco, and a map. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. And, Monica is a lovely person and I enjoyed talking to her!
As I travelled alone, Monica's beautiful house is always a haven after my one day trip. The house is elegantly designed. Monica provides delicious breakfast. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I really enjoyed staying at her place.
De verdad está bien bien amable y simpática, fuera de mi imaginación.
Y otra vez perdón por invitar mi amigo tan tarde a casa.
Y la casa es bien padre! Muchísimas gracias por todo Monica, saludos.
Monica is an amazing host and super helpful in recommending places to visit and even arranging accommodation in Aguas Calientes to visit Machu Picchu. She also arranges an excellent pickup and drop service at the airport or train stations.
The room is a bit dark but has plenty of lighting. Everything is super clean and the hot water shower is perfect. Breakfast is also good.
The room is just 10-15 mins walk to the centre and even though situated outside the main area it felt safe walking back late at night.
I do recommend this place to stay.
I absolutely LOVED staying with Monica. She is so warm and a fantastic hostess! I felt so cared for by her, her lovebug cat, Valentina, and her housekeeper, Lula. Monica helped me make arrangements to visit everything I wanted to in the area and also provided a fabulous color-coded map that directs you from her home to all the things you'll need to access in Cusco, even ATM's, laundry, and other little things you might not think of. Her home is close to everything you want to visit but out of the main tourist area, which I liked. I particularly enjoyed walking to her place because it was through the locals' shopping area. I feel like I will know Monica forever. I had such a great time in Peru and with Monica & Valentina I cried when I left :-)
