We are located in the center of the village yet on a residential side street so it is easy to feel part of the true community of Monterosso.
This charming apartment has one large bedroom, a living room/dining room with a pull-out (comfortable) bed that fits two, a galley kitchen (large fridge, 5 burner stove, pots, pans, etc.), an oversized shower and clothes-washer. English language books are on the shelves and plenty of tourist info is stocked for your use. We do have wi-fi in the apartment as well as complete cable TV in English (or Italian).
Around the corner are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, the most charming piazza in Monterosso, a grocery store and butcher. A delicious corner takeaway with homemade Italian dishes is right behind us. The beach is located 2 minutes walk away and the train station is in very close walking distance.
We also have a baby cot and sheets available for families.
Our apartment was constructed over 600 years ago (!) but we renovated it in 2000 and have continued to improve it since.
Please contact us with any questions you might have!
The apartment is your home during your stay and you will have access to the entire property. The apartment is fully equipped with tourist information and books, kitchen supplies, basic toiletries and ingredients, umbrellas, a beach umbrella, leisure books, and children's toys and books.
We usually have little to no face-to-face interaction with our guests. Most communication is done through email but we are always available in the case that you need assistance.
Our neighborhood is fantastic because even though it's in the heart of the historic center of the village, it's a residential area that is full of local character. Our road is pedestrian-only, lined with benches, so it lends itself to being an ideal congregation point for the street's older folks to have a chat in the afternoon. Our neighborhood more like a family and after a short time in the zone, you feel like you belong to it.
The easiest way to move around in Monterosso is by foot. Within a 100 yards of the apartment you have restaurants, bars, walking paths, a minimarket, the parish church and the beach.
Our apartment was our home for years and years and we've tried to maintain that feel- to make it as comfortable and convenient as possible for our guests.
Please be considerate of those around you.
Since the apartment is in a medieval center, buildings are very close to each other and sound travels easily!
If you do hang out clothes to dry from the window, make sure that you are not inadvertently blocking any doorways below.
Try and knock all the sand off your feet and clothes while you are still on the street so that it does not get brought into the apartment.
Please turn off all lights, including the outside hall light, when you are not in the apartment and while in the apartment, turn off lights in rooms in which you are not present.
We do clean the apartment after each set of guests but we always appreciate it when you leave it tidy to begin with! If you could please leave used sheets and towels near the washing machine, it would help us greatly. Thank you!
We had a great time staying at Kate's place in Monterosso. it is situated in the 'old' town side and close to supermarket and great food and wine bars. We were travelling with a 3 year old and a baby and found the amenities perfect for this. It was clean, really easy to find and comfortable.
We travelled around the other cities in the Cinque Terre and found Monterosso and specifically the old town side accomodating to our needs.
Kate's apartment was delightful! Her directions to finding the place and the location were fantastic as well as all of her tips for your stay in Cinque Terre. I would definitely stay here and have already recommended to a friend! 10/10~!
This is a great little apartment - amazing location, super cozy, and easy to find. Kate even left beverages in the fridge for us. I never got to meet her, but she was super responsive to my emails when I had a few questions. It was a great location for my parents - they are elderly and don't walk super well. We were close to everything, and the one flight of stairs was fine. And it is right around the corner from an amazing wine bar that plays beautiful music. I highly recommend this place. One tip for light sleepers (of which I am one!): it's in a beautiful old building and at times the building seems to creek & make some noise at night. I had headphones & some relaxing stuff to listen to, and I was able to fall asleep soundly. There wasn't any street noise or anything. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Kate's apartment was just as advertised, clean, convenient, and well appointed. Kate's communications were great and instructions easy to follow. The apartment gave you a feel for living in the small village town. The only thing missing was the sea view.
This was a perfect apartment to base our family in as we explored Monterosso and the surrounding villages. It was close to shops and restaurants, plus had everything we needed (and didn't have to pack) for our 2 1/2 year old son! Beach items were included too along with some welcome food to make us fell at home. Kate was very quick responding to any questions we had, we would definitely return.
Kate is very welcoming host and helped to solve all our problems. The apartment is near everything (restaurants, grocery stores, beach..) but still on a quiet area. All basic amenities are provided. We are very happy with our stay and would stay in Kate's apartment again. Highly recommended!
We had a lovely time in this clean, well equipped, spacious and attractive apartment. Kate Little was most helpful and kind, giving very specific directions and many helpful suggestions for enjoying wonderful Monterrosso. The apartment is most conveniently located. We would happily recommend this to friends and family.

I'm originally from Texas but have lived in Europe since 1987. I moved to Italy in 1989 and never left. I lived in Monterosso al Mare (Cinque Terre) for 18 years before moving to Levanto in 2007 with my husband and son.
I am passionate about making, eating and sharing good food. I love the sea and the woods and am frequently either hiking or out on a boat.
Even though I've spent nearly two-thirds of my life living in Europe, I have yet to lose my Texas accent. If you hear a 'y'all' thrown in here and there, don't be surprised.
Travel is essential for me- that's one reason I love Italy and Europe and how easy it to move around. Be it hiking on the islands off Sardinia, discovering spices in Turkey or exploring museums in Florence, I love new experiences and meeting new people. When I am home, I feed my imagination by reading.
We have a relaxed style of hosting our guests. For the guests staying in our house we often run into each other in the vegetable garden or chicken coop. Both our Levanto and Monterosso apartments have extensive updated house books that explain how to best enjoy the area. Even so, we are always available for information about our favorite beaches, restaurants, off the beaten path hiking trails and even recipes.
