LARGE BEDROOM IN LOVELY ART DECO ELEVATOR BUILDING with Wi-Fi & CABLE TV!
BEAUTIFUL / SPACIOUS / PICTURESQUE VIEW
Large charming private corner bedroom with high ceiling and hardwood floor in a lovely renovated 6th floor 2-bedroom apartment which is brimming with old world details! Queen-size bed with soft cotton sheets (high thread count!), puffy king-size feather pillows, and charming handmade country quilt. Brand new air conditioner / heater to keep you cool during hot summer months and toasty warm in the winter. A large empty closet awaits, so you can hang up all your clothes and feel at home.
Art Deco Elevator Building is beautifully maintained, and stands on a tree-lined block. As there are no tall buildings nearby, there is an abundance of light streaming in, and the view from the bedroom is amazing...From one window you can see the Verrazano Bridge...And from the others you can see rooftops and tree tops and the new World Trade Center being built. (Please note that along with the great sunlight and views that come with facing the street, there can be some traffic noise at times. So if you are a light sleeper, perhaps you are better off finding a dark quiet apartment in the back of a building. It's a tradeoff here in NYC!).
YOUR PRIVATE DINING & LOUNGE AREAS
There is a table right in the room for private dining while gazing out upon the gorgeous view from the windows on both sides. There's also a cherry wood coffee table for your snacks and couch with plump embroidered pillows for comfy lounging while watching TV. As I said, the room is huge!
DELICIOUS BREAKFAST INCLUDED
Breakfast of coffee/tea and bakery muffins or our famous NYC bagels, cereal, milk, juice included each morning. Programmable Cuisinart coffee maker - awaken to the smell of fresh brewed coffee. I would be pleased to accommodate any special requests.
FULLY EQUIPPED EAT-IN KITCHEN
Eat-in kitchen has new dishwasher, gas stove/oven and microwave. Fully stocked with cookware, appliances (juicer, blender, etc.) and tableware that you are welcome to use. I will wash all dishes for you during your visit!
LUXURY DESIGNER BATHROOM W/ JACUZZI
Luxury designer bathroom has oversized glass steam shower with jacuzzi tub, deep sea blue glass "waterfall" sink, blue glass tiled walls and heated floor! Plush Royal Velvet & Polo cotton bath sheets (oversize towels) and cushy fluffy bath rug to pamper you from head to toe!
Windowed laundry room in basement has new washers and dryers.
This is the Kensington neighborhood, just below Park Slope, so it is hip and very convenient. Down on Cortelyou Road you will find a sweet collection of great little restaurants and shops.
It's just a 5 minute walk to the subway if you exit through the back door, and then only a 20 minute ride on the F train to Manhattan's Lower East Side (with many more hip restaurants and music clubs). 30 minutes to Midtown Manhattan. You can also take the G train directly up to Williamsburg (20 minutes), Greenpoint, and Long Island City (30 minutes) to experience the "Hipster" scenes there as well.
The subway is full of young people traveling at all hours. The walk here from the Church Avenue F/G train stop along Beverley Rd is lovely – with its quaint large old houses and front yard gardens – and it is safe even late at night.
In fact, the whole neighborhood is very safe. One of my guests was only 19 years old, from a far away country, and she seemed to be quite happy and comfortable here.
In addition to young professionals in their 20s and 30s, there are many families with young children and elderly parents living here...It is such a great little community! Quite an interesting mix of cultures, as Old World meets New. In addition to the afore-mentioned hip restaurants, there is also cuisine from around the world. I really love it here.
Come enjoy all NYC has to offer, including live performances at BAM, Museum, Aquarium and Botanical Gardens right here in Brooklyn.
PLEASE NOTE: I just recently moved in, so there are still some boxes stacked along the walls of the foyer. Also note that I have 3 cats, so if you don't like cats or you're allergic to them, this is not the place for you!
Vava is a very kind lady. She helped us with her suggestions and tried to make our stay pleasant . Thank u Vava .
I really enjoyed my time in Brooklyn and at Vava's place. She was very accommodating and provided everything that was needed for my stay. The apartment was very close to the subway and it was easy to get into the city. Everything was clean and Vava was very helpful. I would recommend staying here!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay @ Vava's home, it is as pictured and described. Vava's attention to my comfort was very much appreciated. We managed to share times, good laughs and stories together, but I also had my privacy. Her kitchen is a wonderful space, with a fridge full of water, juices, jams, bagels and a top-notch cream cheese. Her kitties are sweet and shy. The room with it's corner position, large, airy and so comfortable; the bed, linens and the shower! Wait til you see the shower (I called it a russian space ship - it is very original). Thank you so much for such a wonderful, relaxing and friendly stay Vava! So great and my very 1st airbnb experience. I booked for 3 nights and extended another night with no problems.
Everything as described. Just perfect. Vava is a great warm-hearted hostess, making you feel right at home. Breakfast varied, good strong coffee, metro within walking nearby!
Again any time!
I stayed at Vava's for two nights, over a weekend. She was actually away for that period, but offered me the apartment without raising the price, which I appreciated. The apartment is really charming - it's at the top of a quiet block. The block is on a busy street so there is some traffic noise, but if you're used to cities it's nothing out of the ordinary, and Vava is very up front about this in the room description. The area is Kensington and Parkville - felt very safe. Lots of amenities and shops near by. Not the most 'hipster' part of Brooklyn but that's not necessarily a bad thing. :-) You're about 10-15 min walk from Prospect Park, and about 5-10 min from the nearest subway, Church Avenue (F and G trains). The room is spacious and very light, with a very comfy bed, and TV and wardrobe etc. I could imagine staying there long-term. The shower is great! Vava is very considerate - she emailed during my stay to check all was OK, and left me bagels, muffins, coffee etc. She's incredibly hospitable and clearly has the interests of her guests at heart. I'd recommend this place for sure.
I very much enjoyed staying in Vava's second room, as it was extremely large, sunny and very comfortable. Vava was also a fantastic host. She checked on me often to make sure I had everything I needed, but also gave me more than enough space to come and go as I needed to for work.
The neighborhood is safe and full of personality. The Church Ave train stop (F and G) is just a quick 4 minute walk away, as well as a ton of delis, restaurants and a Duane Reade/Rite Aide.
I honestly have no negative things to say about the apartment, building, neighborhood or host. I highly recommend staying with Vava!
Vava was able to host us in a last minute pinch. We liked the top floor apartment which had plenty of windows, though it was a bit hot. It was clean and her breakfast options were generous!
Perfect place to stay: convenient, lovely safe and friendly neighborhood. Room was delightful and comfortable (street noise not bad at all). Vava was a considerate and welcoming host in every way. I wasn't able to stay for breakfast but it looked wonderful and filling!
Sweet cats that I barely saw. Highly recommended.
We (I, my wife and my daughter) lived eleven days in Vava´s apartment. The room, where we lived, was spacious, clean and convenient. The sorounding of the apartment was secure.and relatively quiet. Vava the owner did her best to let us in peace and provide a delicious breakfast for us. We realy felt at home in this apartment and recommend it for the others.
I had a pleasant time at Vava's appartment. I stayed only 4 days over the easter weekend. Hence I was almost the whole day outside. It was perfect for these purposes. This part of Brooklyn is very nice. I usually took the Q train that is a 10 minutes walk (longer than to the F and C trains). However, I usually prefer to go by the express trains to Manhatten this is why I accepted a longer walk to the subway station. The appartment is spacious and especially the room. The room is very bright too. Vava is a great host, it very easy to deal with her she respects the privacy of their guests. The few time we met each other were very nice talks and the cats are great :-) . It wals also very nice to have breakfast every morning.
I would recomend this place.
