About this listing

Our family friendly casita Los Tucanes, surrounded by plants and birds, sleeps 6. 10 minutes to Los Suenos, Jaco, or ocean. A zip line is up the road and Manuel Antonio an hour away. Whether you seek relaxation or adventure, you will find it here.

The space

Our two bedroom casita in Costa Rica can sleep 6 and is 1 1/2 hours from the airport in San Jose, 10 minutes from Jaco (great surfing and beaches), 5 minutes from Los Suenos marina and golf course, and 1 hour from the beautiful national park Manuel Antonio and 30 minutes to Carrera National Park, a fabulous spot for birding. A zip line is just up the road from us. In the town of Herradura are restaurants with inexpensive, typical Costa Rican food. It is five minutes to the main highway where there is a brand new shopping center with an American type grocery store. In nearby Jaco there is a farmer's market weekly.

Buses are how most Costa Ricans travel. It would be possible to use buses, but you'd have to walk to the stop on the main highway, which is a ways, as our casita is outside of town, dead ending in the jungle. We rent cars when we stay in Costa Rica.

Our casita is one in a small development of 13 homes outside the charming, friendly town of Herradura. There is a small SHARED pool available for use and 24/7 security. NOW we have a cement table and benches and a charcoal bbq for your use. We have seen toucans, macaws, hummingbirds, sloth, and more on the property. We can connect you with the best birder in Costa Rica, if birding is your thing. We can point you to $5 Costa Rican typical meals or delicious international cuisine, in Los Suenos and elsewhere. Beautiful setting. Pura vida.

The house is a quiet peaceful jewel on the edge of the rainforest. A nature lovers dream come true. Peaceful and quiet place alive with sounds of the jungle but only minutes to civilization and amenities.

Marsha's home in Los Tucanes was better than expected. Not only was the house clean, quiet, and well air conditioned, the neighbors in the community were friendly and helpful with activities in the Herradura/Jaco/Playa Hermosa area. Our 16 month old daughter loved the house and slept well every night in her own bedroom. Would definitely stay here again.

If you search for a nice place, near the most attraction of Garabito, this what you need. Marsha was so nice, and the house is perfect, 2 bedrooms big kitchen and a great community, with a green common area.

Marsha & Fred's jungle home is spacious and surrounded by fragrant jungle scents and exotic musical bird & insect sounds. We slept very well and enjoyed lounging on their cozy couch. The gas stove and well equipped kitchen made cooking at home easy (plus the grocery store was a short drive away making for great convenience). As nature lovers, we loved eating on the outdoor table and hiking up the small creek that runs through the property. Marsha & Fred were the best ever hosts and their property manager Cristian was also fantastic. Neighbors were friendly and we also felt very private in our part of the gated community. We were grateful for the high ceilings and spacious interior on the days where the rains poured down. FYI: We used the 2nd room as extra storage for our luggage. Also, having our own washer/dryer was fantastic. We recommend a 4x4 over a regular car (which we had), not for the property since it was easy to drive, but to adventure out in the surrounding areas.

I'm a mother, a wife, a nature lover, and a children's book author. I enjoy traveling for business and pleasure. As an author, I visit many schools each year, sharing my knowledge of writing and books.

My husband and I love Costa Rica. We've been traveling there for 10 years. Now we have a lovely casita where we enjoy relaxing and playing, but we aren't there all year long. So, we want to share it with others who love to find new and wonderful places to explore.
