The Swallows is a recently renovated Dorset Cottage situated on our beautiful farm 5 miles from Weymouth and a stones throw from the stunning Chesil Beach and Jurassic Coastline.
The Swallows is one of seven holiday cottages that form Character Farm Cottages and is situated on our working farm 5 miles to the west of Weymouth and a stones throw from the stunning Chesil Beach and Jurassic coastline. The cottage sleeps 4 and has 2 upstairs bedrooms, one a double and the other a twin. The cottage has recently been renovated but has maintained a "cosy cottage feel" with exposed beams and an open log fire. The kitchen is well equipped and has a table which sits 4 for sociable meals together. The sitting room has a sofa and 2 armchairs to relax in front of the log fire or watching TV/DVD. It has French windows leading out onto the patio and garden. Free wifi is provided for you to keep in touch with the outside world! The upstairs bathroom has a bath and shower head attachment.
The Swallows has a decent size enclosed garden with a south facing patio and garden furniture to enjoy a barbeque or evening drinks as you watch the sunset. The garden leads onto our own farmland from which you can join the Coastal Footpath and numerous shorter walks. There is plenty of parking beside the cottage and we are dog friendly (max 2).
There is a games room a short distance away from the cottage in the Old Stables which has a table tennis, table football and a good selection of paperbacks for you to borrow. It also has laundry facilities.
Our cottages are available for weekly holidays all year and for off-season short breaks (Oct-Mar). For short breaks we try to stick to a 3 night stay arriving on Fridays or a 4 night arriving Mondays. For weekly breaks we do try to stick to Friday to Friday. However we can be flexible and will always try to fulfill your requirements.
Interaction with guests
Ann Mayo and her daughter have been running Character Farm Cottages for over 30 years. They always try to visit you at some stage during your stay to make sure you have settled in and everything is OK.
Jane also runs the family farm and is delighted to show people around the farm and the dairy to see the cows being milked!
Please make yourself at home in the Swallows but do respect the property. Please report any damages or breakages earlier rather than later so we can sort them out before the next guests arrive. Do have a quick tidy round and clean before you leave. Just leave the cottage unlocked with the keys inside when you leave.
Do have a wonderful stay!
From Mar 30 - Oct 5, 2018 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
Generally known as Jake but real name is Colin! I flew helicopters in the Royal Navy and now fly long haul with British Airways. I'm married to Jane who runs the family farm and have 2 children Lucinda 17 and James 15. We have been running our holiday cottages for over 25 years now and take a great deal of pleasure meeting people and seeing them enjoy themselves in our cottages and this beautiful part of West Dorset. Many guests return year after year, treating their cottage as their own "home in the country".
