About this listing
Little Casa Foresti: a cute flat with garden located in a quiet medieval village on top of a green hill, in the center of the region. As hosts, we do our best to have our guest experience Umbria off the path - our reviews speak by themselves.
Hello traveler! Looking for a cosy and elegant base to relax and explore the beautiful landscapes, tastes and cultural heritage of Umbria - the region nicknamed "The Green Heart of Italy"? We're glad you found this page, and ready to welcome you!
/// Please note: if you don't find availability for the dates you need, please consider our other wonderful apartment in the same building... just click on our profile picture on the right and scroll down to find it under "listings". Thank you! ///
"Little Casa Foresti" is a 2-rooms, 50sq/m apartment with large garden inside a 14th century building (renovated in 2009); it's located in the historic centre of Bettona, a lovely medieval village resting on top of a green hill coated in olive groves. Finely furnished and decorated, equipped with Wi-Fi, washing machine and (we hope!) everything you might find in your house, it's just the perfect place for your stay.
Our comfortable holiday house, with room for up to 3 people, is the ideal option for a pleasant stay in Umbria, ensuring you moments of rest and relax between visits to the precious historic and cultural jewels of which Umbria is rich, either in the well-known cities like Assisi and Perugia and the “minor” centres to discover.
Interaction with Guests
On top of this, we - the Foresti family - really enjoy to get to know a little our guests by offering something to make their stay unique.
If we have time and if you wish to, we'll be glad to show you around some hidden spots in the local area, have you over for dinner or take you to a local winery, cheesemaker, restaurant or cultural event - obviously free of charge! My son Francesco speaks very good English and my wife Anna is available if you'd like to get some Italian cooking lessons. We'll do our best to make you feel really at home - of course without being invasive - so feel free to ask us about interesting destinations nearby, as well as restaurants or other local attractions! We live just upstairs of the apartment...
We'll be glad to help you get the best this region has to offer. Giorgio, Anna, Francesco and Lucilla Foresti are pleased to welcome you in their home for a pleasant stay in Bettona!
Bettona, is a beautiful small village of 300 people of Etruscan (4th century BC) and medieval origin, set on a hill overlooking Perugia and Assisi. Although tiny, in town you will find three restaurants, two bars, a small grocery shop with homemade food, a deli shop, a city museum, an international library, a multi-sport complex and, quite often, some social events where people gather to eat all together.
Bettona is quite close to every interesting destination in Umbria:
it is just 16 km far from Assisi, home of St. Francis and UNESCO Heritage Site;
5 km from Torgiano, renown worldwide for its precious wines;
10 km from Deruta, famous for its ceramics;
17 km from Bevagna, the town that turns medieval for the whole month of June;
20 km from Perugia, largest city in the region, seat of a large University for foreigners and with a young nightlife in its historic center;
22 km from Spello, 24 km from Montefalco, 26 km from Foligno, 33 km from Todi, 55 from Spoleto, each one a different medieval pearl to explore;
and 45 km from the shores of Trasimeno Lake and its wonderful tiny islands.
In one hour of travel by car it’s possible to reach every destination in Umbria. If you're up for longer travels, Siena, Firenze and Roma are all within two hours.
Public transportation isn't that great in Umbria, we recommend renting a car (either in Perugia airport, 15km away, or Perugia train station) to experience Umbria at its best.
Parking spots are always available not more than a minute away from the house. At the moment of booking we provide a map of Bettona with everything the village has to offer and a map of Umbria with our favourite landmarks.
Just the basic ones:
- PLEASE NOTE: Check-in is after 4pm, check-out before 10am. If you need to arrive earlier, PLEASE make sure to let us know in advance.
- The bedroom can be arranged with two single beds or a double bed. Please let us know which arrangement you need, or you will find the double bed by default.
- bed linen and towels are provided.
- no smoking inside the house, but there's an ashtray in the garden.
- in case of key loss, 25€ will be taken from your deposit.
- the most important: enjoy your stay!
No trouble finding apartment and greeted by Lucilla who showed us around the apartment and provided all the information we needed.
We had a very pleasant stay as our son was able to join us for five days while we explored Umbria, a highlight was a trip with Giorgio and Lucilla to Castelluccio Norcia to see the wildflowers.
The apartment is very bright and cosy and well equipped. The view from the terrace is splendid.
We enjoyed the hospitality of Giorgio and Anna. This is a very nice place to stay in a beautifull part of Italy and very near Perugia airport.
Magnificent views from the balcony. Bettona pretty little town. Very quite and relaxing. Apartment very spacious and well equipped. Had everything you would need. Anna and Giorgio are wonderful people. Greeted us with a very nice local merlot. Also gave us a private tour of the local produce and Bevagna. Would definitely recommend to others.
Giorgio and Anna were great hosts regarding my questions before and after deciding to stay at their flat in Bettona, Umbria, Italy. I had concerns about not having AC and about the potential for being attacked by mosquitoes since my wife is immune-compromised and mosquito bites cause large welts and even infection and scarring, unlike with most people. However, Giorgio allayed our concerns and made us feel excited to visit this less visited and more rural part of Italy.
Bettona is a Medieval town built on a steep high hill overlooking the Umbrian valley carpeted with vineyards, crop farms, thick woods, and small towns, where you can see Assisi and other walled villages and ancient churches from Bettona's various look outs, including the Foresti villa and apartments. As in days past, at the heart of Bettona is a church whose melodious bells still keep time, lifting one's spirit above the earth and bringing a sense of peace to those who have traveled to Umbria from the harried and over-scheduled pace of the Electronic Age and city life.
When we first arrived we were greeted by Giorgio, a warm, intelligent, gregarious man who greeted us and gave us a tour of the grounds and our apartment. The apartment was very cozy and clean, and was as advertised, with an ivy covered balcony and a view of Assisi and the vast Umbrian valley. Giorgio welcomed us with a bottle of tasty Merlot from the local, coop-style, winery in nearby Passaggio, a winery owned in part by the grape growers, which made their wines very affordable. He also gave us a tour of the gardens outside our apartment, where aromatic citronella bushes grew along with a Ginkgo Biloba tree and various other flowering plants that he and Anna nurtured.
As it turned out, despite warm, sunny days the evenings in Bettona were filled with a cool breeze, so AC was not needed, and unlike a city such as Rome, the streets of Bettona grew calm and quiet well before midnight, even on a holiday weekend. From Bettona we visited Assisi and had easy access to various vineyards and famous wine regions such as in Montefalco, where the rare but wonderful grape, Sagrantino, is grown and after being stored or barrel-aged for at least 7 years is bottled for consumption. In another nearby walled town, Bevagna, we found two wonderful restaurants that Giorgio had suggested, where mostly locals ate, and a wine bar where we tasted and bought more Sagrantinos. The cost for a haute cuisine and lovely, homemade four-course dinner with an expensive wine for two was well under the usual 100+ euros we would pay in other places, and the servers as well as guests, who spoke mostly Italian, were friendly, down to earth, and fun-loving people.
Our stay with Giorgio and Anna was indeed relaxing and memorable. We highly recommend them as hosts and visiting Assisi and other places in Umbria from their villa in Bettona.
Our hosts made us feel Very seldom...the apt was beautiful, Giorgio took us around to local specialty shops and even remembered that we like flea markets, so took us to one of those,too.
Giorgio and Anna were very welcoming. The apartment is lovely and peaceful. Really appreciated the guided tour of local cheese,wine,produce and grocery stores. Bettona is tiny but charming and a great place as a home base for visiting Umbria. Would definitely stay here again

Het was ook aangenaam om kennis te maken met de eigenaar. Erg vriendelijke mensen en behulpzaam. We hopen een volgende keer wat langer te kunnen verblijven.
