Zara's Barn is a cozy TINY house with a charming bath house. We are located just minutes from downtown Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. Guests have a private and comfortable space to unwind amdist the beauty of Western North Carolina.

The space
Come stay at Zara's Barn, it is a comfortable tiny house, with a quaint bath house. A lovely deck on back of the barn, overlooks a green space, with a small creek running by. Table and chairs provided for eating outside or relaxing.

There is a shower, toilet and sink in bath house. This is for you as our guest only! It is private and is 15 feet from barn. I am professional soap maker, so I provide several samples of my herbal soaps that I make for your use. Feel free to TAKE them home with you. We have supplied plenty of towels for your use. We have heat lamps on a timer installed for cool mountain mornings. A hair dryer is provided. You may consider in cold weather, for the walk to the bathhouse (although a short walk) having a jacket or robe, we DO provide 2 bath robes for your use.
The bath house is NOT a sealed building and bugs do sneak in. I try to keep them out, but it is not sealed as I said. I hope a few bugs and ants don't bother you. Just sweep them out of shower stall or bathhouse.

Comfortable full size bed, love seat, and breakfast bar. In the barn. We supply a few snacks, and breakfast bars in the barn. The room is air conditioned. We also have an electric heater for chilly days. We have included an Insignia bluetooth sound system to listen to your music from your device (you can also plug into the device). There is a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The barn itself has a crock with 5 gallons of water to provide drinking, coffee and tea, which we also provide, but has no running water, but just 15 feet away is running water in your own private bath house.

We live in a house on the same property as the barn. We have tried to make your space comfortable and private from our view as possible. We respect your privacy for your visit.

The deck is quite comfortable in mornings and evenings, what a great place to relax! The Barn is CLOSE to the road, that can get fairly BUSY during peak hours, but we have made the space as private and comfortable as possible. The deck is lit up for a few hours at dusk on a timer (you can adjust as needed).

As I said the Barn is close to the road, although we tried to make it private we have had issues of “NOISE” off the road, especially as trucks or loud motorcycles drive by. Some guests have commented about this.

There is a small carp derby fishing lake behind our home. It is a 4 acre lake that guests are welcome to walk around it (1/3 of a mile walk , so 3 times around for a mile). I have put out a bench on the edge of the lake for YOU to sit and watch the Ducks, and the fish jump. The fishing derby is in the evening, fisherman show up around 5:30. Please respect those who may be fishing, the derby runs most days from 6:00 pm - midnight. You still may come sit on the bench on our property, you can watch the fisherman catch big carp.

Feel free to walk around our yard and enjoy the plants and flowers in our gardens.

Since the bathhouse is not winterized, we will be closed most of November - April.

We hope you may consider staying with US at Zara's Barn. We'll make you feel welcomed!

During COVID-19 times, I have kept guest bookings to only weekends. This gives me plenty of time during the week to do a thorough sanitary cleaning.

Where you’ll be

Fairview, North Carolina, United States

We are exactly 4 miles from the entrace to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which has been the most visited "unit" of the National Park System every year since 1946. We are 15 minutes to the Biltmore Estate. The Biltmore Estate is a rare gem. If you go there, plan on a full day to even see a part of all they have to offer. 15 minutes to Downtown Asheville. Downtown has an abundance of locally owned restaurants. Many art galleries and crafts. Don't forget about all the local music, and LOTS of local breweries!

There are also several delicious local restuarants within a mile or two if you are wanting to stay close by. We have provided a list of those restaurants close by. We have a fun local brewery a couple miles away called Whistle Hops. Live music and food most weekend nights. There is also a tasty homemade ice cream near by, called Hilltop I've Cream, with a beautiful view.

We are 20 minute to the NC Arboretum, if you take the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lots of great hiking or biking trails. 35 mintutes to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park. 45 minutes to Dupont State Park, with over 6 water falls (one of my favorite places to go to).

Western North Carolina boasts of over 100 great hiking trails, many with water falls. Again we provide a list of some our favorites.

I'm Jeffey, and I have been a soapmaker since 1996. I sell my natural herbal soaps downtown Asheville, NC, at an outdoor booth at the Grove Arcade Building. My wife is Annette and I have been married for 33 years. She is a registered nurse for over 40 years. She currently works at the VA hospital. We have lived On our property more than 30 years. My wife grew up on the other side of the small lake we live on, most of her life. In fact we live in the house that was once her grandparents. We love the outdoors. We spend more time outside than inside. We love to take long walks in the woods, or on the ocean. We like exploring new towns. We take many short trips, especially to the ocean. We have 4 adult children all grew up and moved away. We have 7 grandchildren, (one set of twin girls). We enjoy sitting on our back deck, enjoying a beautiful evening. We also enjoy watching a good movie, whether comedy, action or a mystery. Annette also likes romance while I like animation. We have a pleasant area we live in and desire to share it with others.
