The space

Set in a quiet location in the french countryside. Very peaceful but just 5 minutes from local town with all facilities - bank, tabac, bars, cinema, chemist, post office.
30 Minutes south of Bergerac with its airport serviced by Ryanair and FlyB, plus flights to Paris and Amsterdam.
2 hours from the international airport of Bordeaux, and 1.5 hours to Toulouse airport. There is a new airport open at Brive which is 2 hours drive.

There are many chateaux in the area, where wine can be tasted and purchased.
Lescou is ideally situated for touring France and taking a trip into Spain which is just 4 hours drive.

Lescou is situated 5 minutes away from a family lake, with beach and swimming. There is a lifeguard during the months of July and August.
Lescou itself is a converted barn. We have tried to keep the feel of a barn in the convertion. We have 2 letting bedrooms. Each very comforable with their own ensuite facility. One ensuite has a shower, and the other a bath with shower attachment.
Towels are provided.

There is a choice of room only or bed and breakfast. Evening meal on request.
Most meals are taken outside on the terrace throughout the summer.

Bookings are all year around, as the house is centrally heated.

The local town of Castillonnes offer all facilities, bank, hairdressers, tabac, tourist information office, cycling club, gym, restaurants, bars, supermakets, boulangeries, cinema, horse and trap racing, brocantes, vide-greniers, bodegas, dining in the square, and market on a Tuesday morning.

Robert and I offer a warm welcome, and will endeavour to make you stay with us as carefree as possible.

Guest access

Guests have keys to their own room and to the front door. We would ask that the front door is locked when arriving back late. Each bedoom has its own en-suite facility. Each room has doors to the outside.

Interaction with guests

Robert and I love people and welcome everyone into our home. We love to sit on the terrace and share a glass of wine with our guests. We are always on hand to answer any queries or solve any problems that may occur.

The neighborhood

The area is very calm and quiet. giving an air of relaxation for a perfect holiday. Very close to a small town with all amenities, including restaurants and bars.

Getting around

There is no public transport, locally, so a car is essential. There is a rail link to Sarlat and Bordeaux from Bergerac. There is ample parking at Lescou, which is very safe.
Montauriol is just 30 minutes south of Bergerac airport, and 5 minutes from Castillonnes.

My husband and I retired to France. We bought a barn to convert into a home, which we have nearly finished, hopefully finished this autumn. Robert was previously involved with engineering and I was a Senior Lecturer in Special Education. Lescou is idyllic, we love the charm of the French countryside, its quiet gentleness and wonderful wildlife. We love to visit Bordeaux with its beautiful buldings and cosmopolitan lifestyle. - a chance to do some serious shopping. We spend most of the summer outdoors on the terrace where we take all our meals - when we are not doing renovation work!! I like to cook and entertain, and Robert is an excellent host keeping up with the best of the french wines. We fund raise for SSAA - the forces charity which supports any service man/woman who have been in the forces even just for a very short time. I am the Events Co-ordinator and organise the fund raising events. We love having people to stay with us.
Our family is spread all over the world, so holidays are normally visiting family. Most of the travelling is done by air. although we did try the TGV and Eurostar to the Uk, this year, and it was great. No hassle and very straightforward. The taxi driver, when we had to change stations in Paris, was delightful.
Life motto - New day, new leaf.
