Montevideo is a very special city, quiet and walkable.
The Old City is the hub of the historical life of Montevideo and the Plaza Zabala is named in honor of its founder, Bruno Mauricio de Zabala and here was located the main fortification. Today is the soul of commercial life, basically from Monday to Saturday On Sundays the neighborhood transforms its life and you can hear the children playing on the swings.
You also can find many cafes, both, local (Copacabana, La Catedral de los Sandwiches) and international (Havanna) and plenty of restaurants which offer international and local food. You can not leave Montevideo without trying the "Medio y Medio" at Mercado del Puerto.

Beatrix was a wonderful host and we related to her immediately, nothing was too much trouble and the apartment had everything we needed. So clean , sunny and with a beautiful outlook over the square. It was warm and centrally located with on the street parking when we needed it.

We had a lovely stay in Beatriz's apartment, she is very friendly and helpful, and easy to reach via phone when we had questions. The apartment is very spacious and clean with a beautiful sunny aspect overlooking a plaza full of trees. Plaza Zabala is surrounded by elegant art deco buildings. It is a quiet neighbourhood, especially at night but conveniently located near a busy, brightly lit pedestrian thoroughfare that leads all the way to the city. There is a well stocked corner shop nearby as well as cafes and restaurants a short stroll away. We entertained some friends at the flat and found the kitchen to be well stocked with utensils and there were many beautiful touches such as antique platters, crystal wine glasses and good quality silverware. We had a very comfortable stay and will book it again as we found it to be very good value.
My experience was amazing. The apartment is very good, a lot of space, organized and to close to downtown. It's a very good option in Montevideo.
Beatriz was more than lovely. She met us upon our arrival, gladly showed us around the place, and gave us tips for our time in Montevideo. She also e-mailed and texted us detailed information regarding a trip up the east coast of Montevideo and surprised us with a gift before our departure. And, to top it off, given that our luggage was lost, she also escorted us to an affordable clothing shop before wishing us well on our trip.
The apartment was impeccably clean, stylish, and in a central location in Old Town. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
