The Space

Black George House is a rural property located in the beautiful Karri forests region in the SW of West Australia. Set on 7 acres the property is only 10 minutes from Manjimup and near the Pemberton wine region (15km), the Walpole tree Top Walk (1.5 hr), Margaret River (1.5 hrs), Perth (3.5 hrs), Albany (2.5 hrs).
In the private guest wing of the house there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Bedroom 1 is set-up with a queen sized bed and has an en-suite bathroom. Bedroom 2 has two single beds and also has an en-suite bathroom . The third bedroom has 2 or 3 single beds and has its own bathroom. The guest wing also has a lounge, dining area, laundry with a washer and dryer, and a fully equipped kitchen. The guest lounge has a TV with video player, library (books, CDs and videos), a pool table and a sound system. Outside, on the 4m wide verandah, is a 6 person heated spa, a BBQ and beautiful views over the forest.

The property is home to Andrea and Gordon Roper and a small menagerie of family pets ( dog, cat, and two horses). All our animals are friendly and guests are welcome to bring their own dogs provided that they are also friendly.

There are many restaurants and attractions within easy reach of our property and we are more than happy to provide advice and directions on where to go.

Both Andrea and myself are keen bikers and we welcome other motorbike riders. We can provide undercover parking for your bikes and can direct you to some of the best motorbike rides in WA; good roads, beautiful scenery, lots of bends and not a lot of traffic.

So, for a relaxing stay, or as a base for riding or exploring, come and experience what the SW has to offer.

We can cater for up to seven guests in 3 rooms or you can book one, two or 3 rooms for $90 per room. Please note that we only take one booking per night so whether you book as a couple, a group of friends, or a family, you will have sole occupancy of the entire guest wing of the house.

The room price of $90 is based on two adults and includes a self serve continental breakfast (bread/toast, spreads, tea/coffee, cereal and juice). For odd numbers of guests we charge $45 per person so 3 people in two rooms would be $135 etc . Please note that these room rates are for groups of adults and we have reduced rates for families with children and for bookings of a week or more.

Guest Access

The guest bedrooms all enter off a private guest lounge and kitchen. The lounge has access to the verandah and spa. The guest area is completely separate from the owners area, connected by bifold doors.

The Neighborhood

You wake up to the sound of birds and cows and you look out at trees but you are only a short distance from wineries, shops and restaurants

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • If you want to experience a little bit of paradise near Manjimup, stay at Black George House. The set up of the home is perfect with a self contained area for guests that has everything you need. The beds are comfortable, the doonas snuggly and the ambience salubrious. The front veranda is huge and sitting at a table you can watch the birdlife in the grevilleas at it's edge.
But, what makes this a must stay home is the hosts, Gordon and Andrea. They stock the fridge with yummy food for breakfast, they heat the 6 person spa ready for your arrival, they are the most helpful and generous hosts we have experienced through air bnb.
We were in the area for the Truffle Kerfuffle and were going to a dinner at Foragers on the Friday night and at Fontys Pool on the Saturday. I asked if there was a taxi service available and Gordon and Andrea volunteered to run us in and out from the venues on both nights. What wonderful hosts and a delightful couple who made our stay a very special one. We will be back.

  • Gordon was friendly and informative. House was in a lovely quiet ideal for a getaway from city life. Quiet location but close enough to Manjimup and Pemberton. Instructions on how to find Black George House was spot on. Great place for a Pet unable to bring our dog on this stay but would not hesitate next time.

  • Gordon and Andrea were amazing hosts and there place is so comfortable and relaxing. They even had the fire going for us each night when we returned and stocked the fridge with the essentials (bacon and eggs of course). We will definitely be back. • A wonderful couple of days at the quiet relaxing home of Gordon and Andrea near Manjimup. Very nice to be greeted with a stocked fridge and a spa pool on after a long journey from Perth. Beds very comfortable with a good en suite shower and had everything we needed including a very friendly Dog called Shadow, would recommend.

  • A great place to stay off the beaten track. It was lovely to have some goodies left for us in the fridge and we even got to enjoy a spa on the verandah. The place is spacious, clean and tidy. Gordon and Andrea were helpful hosts… would recommend a stay here.

  • My Mother, myself and my Daughter-In-Law, enjoyed a wonderful stay at Black George House while attending the Blues Music Festival at nearby Bridgetown. We were close enough to travel to and from the town and isolated enough to enjoy the wonders of the bush without any noise other than the birds and wildlife.
The well stocked fridge was wonderful to arrive to after a long flight from Sydney. I highly recommend a stay at this wonderful retreat in Manjimup
    A must for all ages.
Thankyou again to Gordon,Anthea and Shadow ( the dog )
