This property is absolutely beautiful. The garden is lush tropical plants, with some sloped grassy areas, 2 water features, and hidden flowerbeds. We stayed in the Condo, which was completely hidden from view from the big house due to the tropical rainforest in the yard. The neighborhood in Kihei seemed to be a mix of locals in big ranch homes and vacation homes as this one. Great location for adventures on the South and East side of the Island.
We booked this property based on the following: price, location, free wireless internet and reading that there were multiple fruit trees for fresh smoothies each morning. Due to scheduling issues, we ended up spitting our stay between this property and another which was closer to the beach. The cost of this property was comparable to others in the Kihei area and the location description provided was accurate. The location of the cottage itself was quaint and in a relatively secluded and serene setting (shared with a larger rental house on the same property but separated by plenty of foliage) albeit right next to a main road with early morning traffic. It was a quick drive to the "main strip" in Kihei and the beach.
We were however, disappointed in the condition of the cottage which seemed less "maintained" than the pictures would suggest. The kitchen and bath area were run-down and in need of update and all of the walls appeared in need of a new coat of paint.
While clean bedding and towels were provided, the overall condition of the cottage drew more of our attention.
In addition, we were initially unable to connect to the wi-fi and when we inquired, we were told to use the wi-fi connection from the main house. The connection from the main house was spotty and weak while in the cottage. We were able to text with the local contact who reported that we could enter the main house (it was not being rented during our stay) to get a full strength signal. While this was appreciated in order to address our concerns, it was not convenient to have to run to the main house (sometimes in the rain) every time we wanted to look up a local restaurant or tour group. The local contact did appear to have contacted someone to come to the cottage to address the issue as when we arrived home after a day out, there appeared to be a new router in the cottage. While the effort was appreciated, it did not solve the problem and it was at this point that our local contact simply stopped responding to texts and we just dealt with the internet service as it was.
Finally, in re: to the fruit trees, we only found one fruit tree with grapefruit (which was VERY tasty!), so alas, no fresh smoothies. Of course since we were visiting in February, fresh fruit may just have been out of season?
Terri, the owner, was always quick to respond when I had occassion to email with her.
What a wonderful place! We enjoyed staying at the cottage so much that we will be back again next year. It was quiet and close to some of the best beaches and restaurants. The beds were very comfortable and our hosts were flexible and extremely accomodating with our last minute schedule!
Great location and cottage. Very quite as what we were looking for.
The cottage is much more adorable than the pictures.
It has all the facilities you need, it is clean and gives you this "home away from home" feeling!
The 2 Bedrooms are big enough, the beds are comfortable are the shower (and water pressure) was perfect for us.
There are 2 houses on the property (the cottage we rented and a bigger house) but since the cottage is surrounded by a huge neat garden with flowers and fruit trees you really have a lot of privacy.
As we arrived we were missing some outdoor furnitures but Edy, our local contact was able to find a solution within the day so everything went perfectly. It was also nice to know that there is someone in case you have questions, problems or requests!
All in all: it's a charming pretty house in a wonderful, peaceful surrounding only 5mn (with car) from the first beach and near Kihei to shop and eat.
A little paradise !
