My friend and I stayed at Best Rentable Apartment in Centro from February 23, to March 24, 2014. It is located a block from the Jardin over the Bagel Cafe. Along with the convenience of the location comes the regular ringing of bells from the Parroquia, loud musical events that include drumming, and cafe chitchat that often began early in the am and end late. Fans in the bedrooms help to muffle the sound. It's livable. The rooftop afforded good viewing for sunsets. The beds were firm. The apt. was adequately cleaned once a week and fresh towels were provided on request. It is a large enough space but has seen better days. The bedroom doorknob didn't work. You get locked in until you realize you can pull the doorpin in the floor and the double door can open. There is no answering machine. We contacted Patricia early in our stay about the malfunctioning refrigerator which regularly leaked water onto shelves and into drawers. We were promised repeatedly that it would be fixed/replaced since food was always wet but it remained unsolved. The kitchen sink faucet was in need of replacement. It made eating-in less appealing. The outside doorbells did not work. It was fixed but only after we missed a friend on 2 occasions who came but left unable to contact us from downstairs. The outdoor hand rails on this 2nd floor apt. were unusable due to bird excrement. When we asked for it to be cleaned, Patricia gave an implausible excuse that washing them would disrupt the cafe below. Old water stains were in evidence in a number of places below the ceiling line and new ones were added as explained below. During the night we awoke to hear water pouring down from a water storage tank from the roof. It pooled some 3 inches just short of entering the master bedroom through the terrace door and flowed down the inside walls of an adjacent smaller bedroom onto the storage space above the bed. There was a strong smell of dampness and ants crawling wherever there was water. Shortly thereafter, the water tank broke again. My roommate had to move out of her room until it stopped/dried out. Patricia Gonzalez promptly called the repair man but looked to divert responsibility to the cafe owner. It was clearly not a new problem and we would have left if the second bedroom was not usable. Patricia's daughter came to greet us upon our arrival but was basically absent. Patricia suddenly showed up a few days before our departure with a long list of reasons why she was overwhelmed by her life and apologized for her failure to address some of the valid problems called to her attention during our stay. She said she could not afford an unfavorable review. Since we had been there for a month, she offered us 5 days in the off-season or 3 days during peak at some future time if we returned to San Miguel but could not give afford...
Location is everything in San Miguel. You can beat the fact that the beautiful apartment is just a few steps away from the center of one of the most beautiful cities on Earth. The apartment of course was very clean, wonderfully decorated, comfortable, homey, safe, secure, pleasant to be in. Just like a home. A wonderful kitchen with lots of appliances, like a blender, coffee maker, filtered water and giant comfortable, King Size bed.
Everything worked well and Patricia who is very down to Earth, practical and saavy, was very helpful in answering questions.
Of course everyone in San Miguel is very friendly, there is no sense of danger whatsoever as the media in the States loves to portray about Mexico. San Miguel is much safer than any neighborhood in Chicago where we live and I personally have lived all over the city. South Side and North Side.
The price is very reasonable considering the high quality of the apartment and it's wonderful location.
There is so much to do in San Miguel, you need a month to do them all. There is hiking, wonderful mysterious grutas, canyons, gardens to explore, jazz, rock, mariachi, dance studios, night clubs, hundreds of restaurants.
San Miguel was voted best place to live in the world this year by Conde Nast and Patricias apartment is the best place to live in San Miguel
An incredible location at downtown, nice space with 2 bedrooms and cute kitchen, nice decorated with paintings and handcraft, with views of the Parroquia from the rooftop terrace.
Everything fine and great attention from Patricia, warm water was not working first day, we called Patricia and she got it solved.
Great experience in San Miguel de Allende! :-)
Excellent localisation en plein centre ville! Moi et mes parents on a passe un séjour très agréable
Staying at Patricia's apartment is wonderful! We were 1/2 block off the Jardin and in easy walking distance for anything you'd want. The rooftop terrace is to die for! Wine & cheese in the afternoon and watching the sunset is a great way to relax before dinner. Patricia left great instructions about using the apartment, recommendations on what to do and see, and provided us a very fun place to stay. We will definitely be back!!
Muy buena experiencia
Travelling to a new city in a different country is always nerve-wrecking. Patricia alleviated any stress I had and helped to create the most amazing trip to San Miguel de Allende. From the late night confirmation and Q & A session, to our arrival in San Miguel, Patricia was a delight to work with. On our arrival, we were greeted at the most amazingly located apartment by Shayne. He was a delight and offered helpful tips about good restaurants and fun things to experience while visiting San Miguel. Later that night, we met up with Patricia, who also shared some wonderful pointers as well. The apartment is located just a 1 minute walk from the Centro de San Miguel. The chime of the church bells and wonderful musicians rung down the street and into our apartment. Such a delight! The apartment is not modern, but traditional with old world charm and covered in beautiful artwork. The rooftop terrace is incredible and offered the most beautiful view of San Miguel. We spent our first night on the terrace sipping wine and taking in our surroundings. What a lovely way to start our trip. We felt very safe and comfortable during our visit. I highly recommend working with Patricia and staying in one of her centrally located apartments.
Patricia and her place were incredible. After getting into town a few hours late, she was nice enough to provide directions to the place over the phone. We dropped our bags off at around 9pm, then walked 25 steps to the center of town for dinner. Really couldn't ask for more.
