We had a fantastic time! The hosts Marc and Annette were amazing! They were friendly and helpful. Their place was very unique. The garden area was beautiful and relaxing. Not a single mosquito to be found in our 6 days there. Free use of bicycles and kayaks. They were able to set up our tours for us and even make dinner reservations. They also had a cheap rental car available. And sunsets were amazing from the deck over the water where we ate most of our meals. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an alternative to the big resorts on the island!
Marc-André and Annette are incredibly welcoming. They made sure we had everything to make our stay us memorable, booking activities on our behalf with the best organizers in Bora Bora. The garden surrouding the house and the bungalove is beautiful, and the bay view is very relaxing. We strongly recommend this estonishing place inspired by a great couple, offering an excellent alternative to the traditionnal family pensions or luxury hotels.
If you want to experience Bora Bora, the island, and not just an isolated luxury resort at the other end of a ferry trip across the Bora Bora lagoon, stay with Annette and Marc. They are knowledgeable locals and unobtrusive hosts. Their guest bungalow is directly on the lagoon. You will see sunsets over the deep-water pass, as well as arriving cruise ships and the daily freighter from Tahiti. Outrigger paddlers train on the lagoon beyond your bungalow at sunrise every day and race each other on Saturdays. The Protestant church at Faa Nui, within walking distance, has Sunday services in Polynesian but the a capella singing is beautfiul. Across Faa Nui Bay from the Zani's is the Bora Bora Yacht Club, the closest thing to a non-tourist terrace restaurant on the island, and beyond that is Bora Bora's only night club. You'll need reef shoes to get to a swimmable depth in the lagoon. If you go with Annette, the dogs will swim behind. Snorkelling is fine. The gear is free. The kayak is free as are the bikes. It is worth renting one of the Zani's cars for trips into town or around the island. Marc Andre may share trip to one of the markets at Vaitape and you can cook, very simply, in the outdoor kitchen. It has a roof. So does the Zani's wooden deck built over the lagoon, where continental breakfast is served, at an extra cost. The room is small, but the use of the Zani's deck makes up for a lack of space in the bungalow. The highlight of the place, for us, was the wholly private shower open to the sky. Try to time your visit to coincide with the full moon, which will flood that shower with moonlight and then set before dawn into the lagoon pass.
