Cheerful Private Garden Studio

House - Entire home/apt · Shrader St, San Francisco, CA 94117, United States

The Space

Private room and bathroom with a separate entrance in a 1906 Victorian House. Your space is completely independent from the main house with a patio and sitting area in our big, beautiful garden - an excellent place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. * Please note, there is no kitchen.

We provide wifi, coffee maker, coffee and tea, microwave, mini-fridge, large closet, dresser, desk, dishes, and wine glasses. Also a great Lonely Planet guide book and a walking map to SF to use while you're staying with us. You may use our washing machine, dryer and borrow an iron if you need - just ask. We also always leave a few snacks in the room so when you arrive from your travels there will be something waiting for you.

Great location in the heart of the city: one block to Golden Gate Park (great walking distance for all the concerts/events), near Academy of Science and DeYoung Museum, 4 blocks to Haight Street shopping district, 1.5 blocks to University of San Francisco, 1 block to St. Mary's Hospital. We are walking distance from Whole Foods, cafes, restaurants, bike rentals, Yoga, USF gym/pool. Easily accessible to UCSF, Hayes Valley, Union Square/Downtown, Civic Center theater and museum district, Alamo Square, and most other neighborhoods in the city.

Transportation: .5 blocks to 21 Hayes, 1.5 blocks to 5 Fulton, 33 Stanyan, 4 Blocks to 43 Masonic. Easily accessible to BART - just take the 21 Hayes to Civic Center station.

While you will have your own private space, we have lived in San Francisco for many years and would love to help make your stay a special one.

Good to know: We have a dog who shares the backyard.
Please note that if you click street view, it's not our block.

Thanks! We look forward to meeting you!

  • What a delightful time in San Francisco. Lorraine is fantastic. The facilities are exactly as described and impeccably clean. Just two blocks to University of San Francisco and two blocks to Golden Gate State Park. The unit is right on the Hayes street bus line. Within two blocks are great restaurants. We tried a different one every day and were never disappointed. We will definitely try to stay here every time we visit SF.

  • Lorraine was a great host! She communicated regularly to make sure we had what needed before our arrival, during our stay and as we were leaving. The studio faces a wonderful garden and the neighborhood was very quiet, something we were looking for. The space was clean and Lorraine was very accommodating about our needs in the space as well. It was great to be so close to Golden Gate Park...

  • Lorraine is a great host, and the place is very nice. I really enjoyed being able to eat in the garden on a sunny day. Lorraine was very considerate, and always making sure that my stay would be as comfortable as possible, and willing to solve any potential problems right away (not that I had any!).
    Highly recommended!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Lorraine's. The room was clean and was serviced during our stay, lorraine contacted us during our stay to make sure we were comfortable and addressed any concern we had.

(The wifi failed due to an ATT problem, and she had it fixed right away).

The location was perfect, close to Golden Gate park, with several bus lines running a few feet away from her house.

  • Lorraine was a fantastic host. When we arrived she was waiting for us with a ton of information and helpful tips that made our stay much more fun and saved us a lot of time. We could not have wished for a better location. We felt like we actually "lived" in SF for the time of our stay.

  • First of all Lorraine is a great hostess! She is committed to make your stay as good as it possibly can and was really helpful in making our stay in SF a great one!
The room has all you can ask for; private entrance, private bathroom, some basic kitchen stuff, a comfy bed and a great view of the beautiful garden.
We found the location great, close to Haight street, Golden Gate park and depending on how comfortable your shoes are walking distance to other nice areas. The bus access is also great if your feet are getting tired.
I can truly recommend a stay here!

  • Cheery graden studio is the perfect name for this fabulous home away from home! The garden is lovely, and Lorraine is a perfect hostess. She is flexible( last minute we were able to come a day early due to bad weather) and kind and informative in every possible way. On arrival there was a bowl of fruit for waiting with the best fuji apples I have ever tasted as well as choices of koffie and tea. The location is awesome, with the park close by and buses taking you to any part of town as well. Fully five star recommendation.

  • Lorraine was a great host! First of all before we arrived to San Francisco, Lorraine contacted me and gave me great instructions. Our plane was delayed and she sent me a sweet text to see if we were ok. The place is perfect. The location is phenomenal! It is literally walking distance from Golden Gate park and you have two muni stops by her house Line 5 and 21. Both lines practically take you to all the main locations in San Francisco. The place is very clean! The only disadvantage is that it doesn't have a kitchen but there are restaurants walking distance from her home. I really enjoyed my stay here…OH YES IT IS A BUS RIDE AWAY FROM THE BEACH!!!

About
I've lived in San Francisco since 1971. I'm a semi retired teacher and I enjoy traveling, hiking, and all of the cultural events that San Francisco has to offer. My husband and I are very excited to start welcoming people into our extra space. We have not only lived in San Francisco for many years, but we've lived in this house for over 30 years - we know the city well and would love to help you make your stay memorable. I'm also conversant in French and Italian.
