Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. The Cairn of Vermont is an 1840s stone house located in the sleepy remnants of Bartonsville Village, now part of Chester, VT. 20 minutes to skiing and hiking, biking and the great outdoors are all around you! Less than 5 minutes to Vermont Country Store and make your way home through the Bartonsville Covered Bridge!

The space
The Cairn has 4 bedrooms- 1 with queen bed and 3 with full size. There is a full bath with laundry downstairs and a half bath upstairs. The Cairn has a small open kitchen-eating-living room with propane (wood) stove. I love children and look forward to hosting them soon with their adults, however that is postponed as of now as the kitchen setup has open shelves on the island which would make it difficult with children. Kitchen rehab coming soon so please check back if you are traveling with your littles!

Neighborhood highlights

The Cairn is located in the center of the old village of Bartonsville. The house across the street was once the mill and the brick house right next door was the general store. The Cairn has great neighbors and there are vegetable stands on the road with chicken and duck eggs as well. The Cairn has an acre of land and a flat yard.

I am a polite, fun loving person. I love to travel, see and learn new things and meet great people from all over the world. I am a school counselor at a city high school and my students are very diverse and impressive! I have 2 adult children who also love to travel. I enjoy sight seeing and doing things out doors. I am very easy going and get along with almost anybody. I have rented a second home myself so I know what it is like to be a host. I always treat my rentals as good or better than I treat my own place. I spend as much time as possible seeing the place I am visiting and mostly looking for some local insights and a safe place to sleep.
