Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as they wish. We have packages for the guests who wish to stay a few days to explore. These are fully discussed with our guests. We send them confirmation details and all relevant information for their stay.
We can also translate this into their language if necessary.
A rural village near the Silent Valley and a 3 mile drive from Kilkeel, a fishing village with an interesting harbour. We are a lovely friendly Irish village and welcome our visitors with open arms. The local supermarket is open until 9 o'clock each evening. Taxis are easily available. The local bar is open at weekends and welcomes you. We have reduced passes to our guests for the Silent Valley.
We have rural transport to the village 5 times and from May to September we have the Mourne Rambler Bus Service which goes around the mountains and drops people off at prime locations. (website hidden)_tt.pdf
Other Things to Note
We like guests to respect our arrival times as it is not always possible to have someone on site all the time to meet up. We will send details of the room number and the key will be in the bedroom door making it easier for a speedy check-in.
We are a strictly no smoking centre but there is a sheltered facility outside the building for our guests. We do allow pets and have a policy and an extra charge for each pet. We expect guests to respect our centre and facilities and other guests who like a quiet nights sleep in preparation for their hike next day. Guests can book the full centre and this allows for more flexibility. We also have a responsible tourism policy on our website.

I am the voluntary manager of the community business which has been set up in 2002 and has been operational and improving its facilities on a regular basis. The centre now employs more staff, encourages local community involvement, promotes peace and reconciliation among communities in the Mournes and generally trying to promote the economic and tourism aspects of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Mourne Mountains. Come and visit us and we will make you extremely welcome.
