Forget your worries in this historic rustic farmhouse on 1600 acres. Just 35 minutes from Greenville, NC, and an hour outside of Raleigh, the Batts House is on the National Historic Registry. Now a cattle ranch and nature preserve, there are 22 miles of trails, much of which run beside Deep Creek, Fishing Creek, and the Tar River. Walks in the woods are available almost anytime ( call to to coordinate) we have many trails available for experienced cowboys and cowgirls to enjoy. Call ahead.

The space
The original home was built in 1762 by Isaac Batts, but burned to the ground during the Civil War. The rebuild was completed by Dr. Dempsey Batts in 1870. The confluence of Deep Creek, Fishing Creek, and the Tar River occurs on the farm. The endangered Tar River Spinymussel can ONLY be found along the gravel banks on the property from the mouth of Fishing Creek to the Red Iron Bridge. The endangered Carolina Pine Snake can also be found on the property, as well as numerous nesting Bald Eagles.

Guest access
The home itself offers unrestricted access. The farm however is a working cattle ranch, and therefore we ask our guests not to enter the fenced areas without one of our farm hands for everyone's safety, and the safety of the cattle.

WE DO NOT ALLOW METAL DETECTING ON THE PROPERTY EXCEPT DURING SCHEDULED EVENTS.
