Charming, sunny, large and open living room and adjacent deck with a breathtaking views of the bay, Bay Bridge, Berkeley and Oakland. Parking is easy. Recently renovated Victorian, hardwood floors, lots of space. No bathtubs but do have a hot tub!
This is the master bedroom of a 3 bedroom of 3rd flight flat. (there are about 35 steps, but the view makes it worth it) There is a private bathroom, queen bed (a bit lower than most, almost futon-style but more comfy), mini-fridge, largeTV with full cable and a DVD player, coffee maker, hair dryer, and a large closet.
The building is an 1907 Victorian that we recently renovated. The apartment itself is very spacious, sunny, with high ceilings with hardwood floors.
There is a short-hair CAT (Trixie) on the premises, if anyone happens to allergic.
Deck area, hot-tub access, roof accessible by ladder, hightly recommended for sunsets...The room has a fridge and microwave. Light cooking is also fine in the kitchen.
Interaction with Guests
I do a lot and enjoy that part, the biggest inspiration and motivation to do what I do…I have to admit that I am better at "guest interaction" in the mornings and afternoons however, when I have more energy…I work hard and often tend to get a bit tired and less social in the evenings…Between the BnB and my food truck I am with people all day so at night I sometimes like my space and quiet time...
The hood is safe and quiet, easy parking and public transportation close. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance…there are about 10 restaurants with every type of food is found within 5 blocks. I recommend Aperto and Che Mama the most!
The 22 bus line, the T-Muni (light rail) and the Cal-Train stations are all within 3 blocks and we are 2 blocks from the 280 Freeway for easy access to the airport, Bay Bridge or Palo Alto and points South.. Potrero Hill is a safe and quiet neighborhood and there are numerous restaurants and shops within east walking distance and is only 10-15 minute drive to downtown or Berkeley/Oakland or pristine beaches South. Parking is safe and free on the street. Public transportation to downtown is only 3 blocks away (aprox. 25-30 mins. away) From there you can connect to the cable-car for destinations to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown & North beach.
The Cal-Trans train station is also 3 blocks away for those who need to take public to S.San Francisco, Mt. View, Palo Alto or San Jose. The 22-bus runs 1 1/2 blocks away and services the Mission, Lower Haight and continues to the Marina district.
If you are renting a car, which I advise to see the North Bay (GG Bridge, Marin Headlands, Pt. Bonita, Sausalito, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach and Pt. Reyes)
There is a hot-tub downstairs you are free to use. There is a Washer/Dryer guests are free to use. There is use of the kitchen but please check ahead if you plan on cooking in more than once or twice during your stay as I sometimes have very busy weeks with my food truck.
Other Things to Note
I provide coffee, tea and at least some toast, bagels, croissants, fruit and cold cereal. If I have time and the timing works with my guests, I often can cook a more substantial breakfast but can't promise it anymore...
1. No smoking indoors...outside deck or on the roof, or in/by the hot tub area is fine..
2. No pets, so please don't ask. Please don't use the towels I provide to wipe off makeup. 3. Please turn off lights when leaving rooms....
4. Light cooking is fine but I don't encourage it on a daily basis as I use my kitchen a lot for work.
5. Please respect the wood and don't leave wet towels on the hardwood floors...
6. I am a social being but sometimes need my living room space in the evenings after a work day.
Jon was a wonderful host, offering coffee in the morning, and even offered me some dinner one of the evenings. The house is beautiful and has the most amazing views of the bay and the city from the decks.
Perfectly situated between bus, caltrain, and muni light rail stops, and also plenty of parking in a very safe neighborhood.
I immediately felt like I was at home.
I would highly recommend staying with Jon. Best host and very kind.
Jon knows his city!
Thank you so much for the experience as it was my first with Airbnb. Lovely home with a breathtaking rooftop view, comfy bed and delicious breakfast :) It was like home away from home. Felt welcome.
Will definitely be staying again.
San Francisco is a city of hills and Jon Ranis' Potrero Hill Quiet Retreat is no exception. Be prepared to climb up 34 stairs and be driven up a hill like no other (although this is typical for a lot of SF.) But when you get there, be prepared for a gorgeous view of the harbor and the quiet promised in the name.
Jon is a gracious host who cooks for a living so his breakfasts were top notch. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and we will be back at his place the next time we visit family in SF.
Jon is a friendly host. I spent 5 days in his place as if I'm home with a good friend. It's easy to park and the neighborhood is pretty. And if course he knows how to make good breakfast. I highly recommend this place.
I really wish to thank you for the great hospitality, it was like to be at a friend' home. Hope to come back soon. Ciao
Jon was an excellent host. I would definitely stay with him again. Very friendly and easy going. He even made me breakfast and dinner a few times and the food was awesome. My room was very cozy as well with a comfy bed, nice tv (with cable) and private bathroom. Also, there is a very nice view of the bay, bay bridge, and downtown SF from the balcony. There is an even better, 360 degree view of the whole city from up on the roof. I would definitely stay with Jon again.
