Charming sunny large and open living area with a breathtaking views of the bay, Bay Bridge, Berkeley and Oakland. Recently renovated Victorian, so it's the best of both worlds

The Space

This is the master bedroom of a 3 bedroom, top flight flat. (there are about 35 steps, but the view is worth it!) It contains a private bathroom, queen bed, a 36' HDTV and a large closet.
The building is an 1907 Victorian that we renovated upon purchase in 2000. The apartment itself is very roomy, sunny, recently renovated with high ceilings and hardwood floors. There is a short-hair CAT (Trixie) on the premises.

Guest Access

Deck area, hot-tub access, my kitty, use of my refrigerator, and if you have more than a few things, there are mini-refrigerators in every room. Microwaving and light cooking always fine…There is a roof accessible by ladder recommended at sunset...

Interaction with Guests

I do a lot and enjoy that part, the biggest inspiration and motivation to do what I do…I am better at guest interaction in the mornings however, when I have more energy…I tend to get a bit tired and less social in the evenings…Between the BnB and my food truck I am surrounded by people all day so at night I sometimes need my space and quiet time...

The Neighborhood

The hood is safe and quiet, easy parking and public transportation close. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance…there are about 10 restaurants with every type of food is found within 5 blocks. I recommend Aperto and Che Mama the most!

Getting around

The 22 bus line, the T-Muni (light rail) and the Cal-Train stations are all within 3 blocks and we are 2 blocks from the 280 Freeway for easy access to the airport, Bay Bridge or Palo Alto and points South.. Potrero Hill is a safe and quiet neighborhood and there are numerous restaurants and shops within east walking distance and is only 10-15 minute drive to downtown or Berkeley/Oakland or pristine beaches South. Parking is safe and free on the street. Public transportation to downtown is only 3 blocks away (aprox. 25-30 mins. away) From there you can connect to the cable-car for destinations to Fisherman's Warf, Chinatown & North beach.
The Cal-Trans train station is also 3 blocks away for those who need to take public to S.San Francisco, Mt. View, Palo Alto or San Jose. The 22-bus runs 1 1/2 blocks away and services the Mission, Lower Haight and continues to the Marina district.
If you are renting a car, which I advise to see the North Bay (GG Bridge, Marin Headlands, Pt. Bonita, Sausalito, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach and Pt. Reyes)
There is a hot-tub downstairs you are free to use. There is a Washer/Dryer guests are free to use. There is use of the kitchen but please check ahead if you plan on cooking in more than once or twice during your stay as I sometimes have very busy weeks with my food truck.
I like to provide at least a continental breakfast and can do a great deal better if my guests aren't up too late or early and I am not too busy prepping for a lunch gig that particular morning.

Other Things to Note

I ask that you please treat my towels and linen as you would your own if you were at home…same goes with leaving lights on.

  • It was a pleasure staying at John's pad in San Fran. We loved the location staying not far out of the city but in suburbs with plenty of cafe's and trendy stores surrounding nearby streets and also train stations only a short walk away. John was friendly and very helpful giving us guides of San Fran and tour suggestions. He also cooked breakfast in the morning an even had vegemite for us to put on our toast. We are Aussies so that was greatly appreciated!

Highly recommend staying at his place.

  • I stayed here for 5 days in June - what a perfect place to experience the Bay Area! Jon's hospitality (and amazing multi-course breakfasts) were a highlight of the trip. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean, bed was comfortable and the views from the rooftop were incredible! I would recommend this place as a launching point to explore San Francisco and surrounding area...thanks Jon! I had a blast! :)

  • The apartment is great, especially the balcony where we had our morningcoffe every day. John Always had fresh coffe and offered us breakfast every morning. His panncakes are just marvelous. John is a very nice guy and so helpful. He provided us with information and maps and where to go during our stay.
The location is about 15 minutes from central S.F but that was not a problem, the train goes every twenty minutes. Can recommend this Place.

  • Jon was an excellent host. Not only did he have an amazing room prepared for us, he also provided us with a delicious breakfast, TWICE. The homemade french toast, bacon, potatoes, and eggs, were as good, if not better, than any breakfast place you'll find. The view was amazing, perfectly located on the top of a hill, in front of the SF harbor. There's a nice little balcony there where you can just eat and relax. There wasn't any cable at the time but there was a dvd player with a selection of DVDs that came in handy. He was in and out most of the day, working with his food truck, but when he was there, he was able to give us any help we needed, show us maps of San Francisco, and give us his recommendations for the weekend, super helpful! The area has plenty of parking, and the drive to the city isn't bad at all, around 15 minutes. For the price and the location, this is a perfect place to stay. Jon's place met all our needs and I would definitely recommend staying here. And don't forget to ask him to go to the rooftop right before sunset :)

  • Jon's place in Potrero Hill was a perfect location for a weekend visit with our son who was interning with a local design firm. The views of the city from the apartment are fantastic. The apartment has a wonderful art collection and is tastefully decorated. The room and private bath were just fine for our needs, especially the shower. Our host made us feel welcome and yet he gave us plenty of privacy. The local neighborhood has numerous fine restaurants and little shops all within easy walking distance. We had no trouble finding street parking a short distance away. Jon prepared several excellent breakfasts for our family, and he has a great deal of information on hand for those who want to tour the city. You'll get plenty of exercise just walking around as Jon's place is at the top of one of the area's steeper hills. All-in-all, our stay here was a great experience.

  • Jon's place has an amazing view. I stayed in the master bedroom suite with its own bathroom. It met my needs perfectly.

  • Nice place, super comfy bed, lovely private bathroom with glass shower. Room was quite clean. Beautiful view of the bay from living rm and deck. And John was very friendly--I regret that we couldn't spend more time chatting but I was on such a whirlwind trip!

  • I and my wife stayed at Jon's house and we think it was precious opportunity to knowing his hospitality. We could shared unforgettable time with him since he was always try to make us comfortable. Needless to say, stunning view and great location were part of the reason why we satisfied with this stay, but most important thing is his warm hearted mind. Definitely we'd like to stay in his house again when our next trip to bay area. Thank you, Jon! We'll never forget the time with you.
