Potrero Hill Quiet Retreat

Apartment - Private room · Mississippi St, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States

The Space

This is the master bedroom of a 3 bedroom, top flight flat. (there are about 35 steps, but the view is worth it!) It contains a private bathroom, queen bed, a 36' HDTV and a large closet.
The apartment itself is very roomy, sunny, recently renovated with high ceilings and hardwood floors. There is a short-hair CAT (Trixie) on the premises. The Potrero Hill neighborhood is a safe and quiet area and there are numerous restaurants and shops within east walking distance and is only 10-15 minute drive to downtown or Berkeley/Oakland or pristine beaches South. Public transportation to downtown is only 3 blocks away (aprox. 25-30 mins. away) From there you can connect to the cable-car for destinations to Fisherman's Warf, Chinatown & North beach.
The Cal-Trans train station is also 3 blocks away for those who need to take public to S.San Francisco, Mt. View, Palo Alto or San Jose. The 22-bus runs 1 1/2 blocks away and services the Mission, Lower Haight and continues to the Marina district.
If you are renting a car, which I advise to see the North Bay (GG Bridge, Marin Headlands, Pt. Bonita, Sausalito, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach and Pt. Reyes)
There is a hot-tub downstairs you are free to use. There is a Washer/Dryer guests are free to use. There is use of the kitchen but please check ahead if you plan on cooking in more than once or twice during your stay as I sometimes have very busy weeks with my food truck.
I like to provide at least a continental breakfast and can do a great deal better if my guests aren't up too late or early and I am not too busy prepping for a lunch gig that particular morning.

Guest Access

Deck area, hot-tub access, refrigerators in every room, microwave and light cooking...

Interaction with Guests

I do a lot…more in the morning however, when I have more energy…I tend to get a bit tired and less social in the evenings…Between the BnB and my food truck I am surrounded by people all day so at night I really need my space and quiet time...

The Neighborhood

There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance…About every type of food is
covered within 5 blocks!

Getting around

The 22 bus line, the T-Muni (light rail) and the Cal-Train stations are all within 3 blocks..If you are driving, parking is free and easy on the street and we are 2 blocks from the 280 Freeway for easy access to the airport, Bay Bridge or Palo Alto and points South...

Other Things to Note

I can’t impress enough the importance of treating my linen like you would at home…I have gone through dozens and dozens of sheet and towels that my guest ruin with make-up and lubricants….
PLEASE treat them like you would YOUR OWN stuff if you were at home..! PLEASE...

  • Nice place, super comfy bed, lovely private bathroom with glass shower. Room was quite clean. Beautiful view of the bay from living rm and deck. And John was very friendly--I regret that we couldn't spend more time chatting but I was on such a whirlwind trip!

  • I and my wife stayed at Jon's house and we think it was precious opportunity to knowing his hospitality. We could shared unforgettable time with him since he was always try to make us comfortable. Needless to say, stunning view and great location were part of the reason why we satisfied with this stay, but most important thing is his warm hearted mind. Definitely we'd like to stay in his house again when our next trip to bay area. Thank you, Jon! We'll never forget the time with you.

  • Potrero Hill Retreat was ideal. Very easy to reach from SFO airport with our rental car. While just 5 minutes drive time from the city of San Francisco, the neighborhood was very quiet and safe, with some fantastic bistros within just a few blocks walking distance. Many of the homes in the neighborhood were beautiful, and we never had trouble finding an overnight parking space for our rental car. (Watch out for street cleaning - a very expensive ticket!) Jon was a great host, at the same time friendly, helpful, and still gave us "space". The room we had was nice, with a great bathroom. We met another interesting couple who was also staying at the apartment at the same time. Very international place! Jon had some great itineraries for catching the bay area nature attractions. Be sure to take advantage of Jon's breakfasts. A fantastic chef.

  • We had a great stay in San Franciso. The neighborhood that Jon lives in is nice and quiet and has a few restaurants/shops near by that are within walking distance that we went to if we were too tired to drive or take public transit to. Public transportation was very easy to get to from his house and if you have a car, parking was never an issue either. Jon was very helpful in terms of suggesting activities, restaurants, etc. He also cooked us breakfast a few of the mornings and was always very generous. We enjoyed our stay very much and plan to go back sometime soon!

  • Jon was a fantastic host. I was greeted with a glass of wine on the balcony and made to feel entirely at home. The bedroom and ensuite bath room were spacious with a desk and a huge wardrobe and loads of storage. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hair dryer and piles of fresh towels all provided. Jon is great company amd has lovely friends and cooks a fantastic breakfast. The location is great, it's easy to get anywhere. The view from the balcony is simply.

  • Jon's place is great. The view from the deck is incredible. We enjoyed our coffee out there in the morning and a cocktail in the evenings. The bed is super comfortable and the room is large. We were not there too much, but when we were, Jon was very nice. He cooked us breakfast on 2 mornings and even drove us to the airport so we could see the beach. He is a wild driver, but I think that goes along with California. :) We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay with Jon again!!

  • I stayed there for a month. Jon has been a great host. Very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, so was the bathroom. The area is a very peaceful street, and the bus stop is 2 blocks from the house. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the city, with good views.
