About This Listing
A bright, airy room, comfy for your visit to NYC. Great afternoon light, and a lovely garden view out the window. You'll share a bathroom with one other housemate. You'll have access to the kitchen, living room, and porch.
Big bright and sunny NYC apartment. It's in a 3br/2ba apartment. The available bathroom is shared with one roommate. The kitchen is large and well stocked with cookware for anyone who's into the culinary arts. Off of the 7 train 61st/Woodside stop. It's about 25 minutes to midtown on the train. Roommates are pretty great, and mostly keep to themselves. There's a porch! Very safe neighborhood. All useful things like banks, grocery stores, and laundry are within easy walking distance, many 24hr! It's a great place to stay out of the intensity of Manhattan, but easy access to it when you want to venture out.
The neighborhood is very quiet and residential. There are a number of restaurants and shops right off the 61st stop, and even more selection around the 46th St stop. Woodside/Sunnyside offers a lot of fun things to do.
You'll have a cozy place to stay and enjoy your visit to the Big Apple!
Guests have access to the kitchen and all the cookware and spices and such. Also, the living room with tv is a shared space. And of course the super awesome porch!
Interaction with Guests
My schedule tends to be busy and varied, so I don't end up having that much time at home. When I do, I'm happy to hang out, or leave guests to their own devices, however they prefer.
My neighborhood is a nice quiet blue quiet type of place. There's a lot of trees and pretty green stuff around. Lots of families around, and a really diverse area.
We're close to the 61st express stop on the 7 train. It's about 20 minutes into Times Square.
I ask that you be considerate of my home, and of the roommates, we're a pretty chill group of people.
If you smoke, you can ONLY smoke on the porch with the door closed.
ALWAYS lock the building front door, and the apartment front door.
Please don't use the door chain unless you are positive all roommates are home.
If you buy cleaning products for the house, please try and make them environmentally friendly versions. Please do not buy ANY anti-bacterial cleaning products, that stuff is terrible. We try and be kind to the planet.
Please limit the usage of the AC, if available. The price does include utilities, but that runs that tab up for me right quick. Sometimes you just need it, but please just be aware of how much you're using.
Please be kind to my kitchen stuff.
There are families in the other apartments in the building. Please beware of noise levels if you come home late at night.
Enjoy your stay here, please always let me know if there's anything that can make your stay better.
I arrived late-ish to Amanda's apartment in Woodside, Queens. Amanda happened to be home and welcomed me. I decided to stay at Amanda's because I am moving to Woodside, Queens myself and my apartment wasn't going to be ready for 2 days. I figured it would be easier than going elsewhere because I did have some massive luggage with me.
Anyway, Amanda welcomed me into her home and offered me some chili (homemade). Though I did not have an appetite, I did appreciate the offer. Amanda, as a host, gives her guests their privacy. I didn't really converse with her very often; just some questions about little things around the house.
The room itself was pretty accurate. The bed is large but the desk was unusable due to a random computer monitor sitting on top of it. The wifi can get spotty Amanda will reset it if you bring it up. Also, there's a cat in the apartment.
Overall, it was a decent stay for the price. It's a bit of a walk to the train (7) but the neighborhood is safe and quiet. If you're traveling via bus, it's right off of Queens Blvd which can be somewhat convenient.
Amanda was great. The whole process was easy and convenient. The room was clean, comfortable and as described. I didnt see much of her but when I did she was kind enough to offer an umbrella, which was much appreciated.
Amanda was a nice host. She was very helpful (even when it had to do nothing with lodging) and respectful of other people's space.
I did have some concerns (air mattress turned out to be rather uncomfortable and the room could be little chilly in winter), but Amanda tried to provide everything needed, including extra blankets and cooking stuff. So overall my experience was good.
Stayed here for 2 months. It was a good place to start out in NYC. It's a bit of a walk to the station but it's not that bad if it hasn't been snowing. Family oriented area. I felt safe at all times. Amanda wasn't there for most of my stay, but she is very quite and prepared to answer any questions you have. The grocery store is a little walk away, about 10min. And the laundromat is also about the same.
Amanda is cool, helpful and respectful. The apartment is nice, my room was small but dignified but I was there just for 8 nights. The air mattress is not very comfortable but it worked ok for this short period. Cleaning could be better...especially the bathroom. I would recommend it for a short period.
