About This Listing
You can stay at our house next to Keller's Beach in Point Richmond, CA, adjoining an East Bay Regional Park. You have entire upstairs bedroom-bath plus LR-DR-kitchen with a view of San Francisco Bay, with lots of amenities in a great location.
While we are away, you can stay at our house in Point Richmond. It's on a hill that runs into the beach so the view is fantastic, and you can use the kitchen and living room/dining room, hot tub and downstairs bathrooms (not the two downstairs bedrooms) while we are away! Two week minimum stay.
Our house is full of stairs (hey we are on a hill), and so this is not a good house if you are injured or have mobility problems. Otherwise people love the exercise the stairs provide!
We are across the street from Keller's Beach, a small little beach on SF Bay. Our view is of San Francisco skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Angel Island, Mt. Tamalpais, The sunset is constantly wicked. We live by Miller-Knox Regional Park that has super nice hiking trails along the bay and in the surrounding hills!
Plus you can use our kayak, not to mention an archery range, right across the street on Belvedere! Yes, did we tell you that Richard is an expert archer, and if you arrive before we leave, he can give you a quick archery lesson.
Point Richmond is a cute little town, with restaurants and taverns where you can sit outside (or inside to watch sports on TV).
Our place is an 8-minute drive (or 12-min bus ride) to the Richmond BART (a subway system that will take you to San Francisco in about 30 minutes), a 15-minute drive from Berkeley (where I teach Economics at UC), and a 5-minute walk from downtown Point Richmond, which has a nice selection of restaurants, art shops, and bars.
Oh there is also a hot tub! It's outside on the patio so you can relax while listening to the waves. Plus a Bowflex machine you can use in the exercise room by the hot tub.
Our kitchen is fully stocked for you to cook.
We have a big flat screen HDTV, and get broadcast channels (or stream from your computer), but no cable. You can stream shows through Netflix because our wifi connection is fast.
Our guests love our place for its views, the beach, the hills for walking, and for being close to SF, Berkeley, the wine country. A terrific place to enjoy the SF Bay area!
Our kitchen is fully stocked, and we have a solar heated hot tub. Plus a kayak and lots of hiking trails. Did we mention our meditation hut, with an amazing view of SF Bay. As our Tibetan Buddhise Rinpoche said, when he blessed it, "This is a peaceful place."
Interaction with Guests
We will be away, and available online. Plus we hope to meet you before we leave. Our greyhound Belvedere will be with us. If you have a dog, we have a few dog beds around (no dogs on furniture).
Point Richmond is a small village and fun to explore with its restaurants, bars, and shops.
We provide a Survival Guide to our town, and hiking trails, and (hopefully) all you need to know to enjoy life.
Also people love to explore nearby Berkeley and Marin area. Not to mention hop on BART and explore San Francisco. Plus we have awesome walks on the beach and by the Bay that can last from 10 minutes to two hours. Every other Sunday, you can join us to practice meditation and hear a lesson by an amazing Tibetan Lama, Anam Thubten Ripoche. People travel from all over to practice with him.
Enjoy nature, the Bay, and San Francisco area!!!
You can take the bus over to BART (12 mins to BART, then 12 mins to Berkeley and 35 mins to SF). Or drive to Berkeley, or to the BART station, and take BART to SF. Everything is very conveniently close by.

Let us know by email if you have any questions or concerns.
It was a delight meeting Richard an Clair and they made us feel right at home! Their home is beautiful and cozy at the same time, with unbelievable views throughout the entire house. Between the hot tub and the patio and the meditation hut, it felt like a retreat indeed! And Richard and Clair were so sweet about providing details on how to enjoy the area (lovely hikes!) and the adorable town below. We will certainly be back to this magical spot and can't wait to chat with Richard and Clair more!
This place alone is worth a trip to bay area. First, to meet Clair and Richard. The best hosts ever met, creating that type of atmosphere when everything (down to small details) is being taken care off and in the very natural way so one indeed feels at home (as many claim here). Their guidelines on the bay area are invaluable, know all ins and outs and can be incredibly helpful in planning your time there. Besides the practical issues, we have not spent enough time talking to them: Clair and Richard are truly multifaceted persons. Second, the location. Point Richmond is a truly unique corner of the bay area, it is very cozy, safe and self-sufficient to the extent that one can spend few days just walking (and kayaking, this option is included!) around (we did). At the same time it is 5 min driving to BART or 20 min to Berkeley (that stretch of 580 rarely has bad traffic) so it is well situated indeed. Third, the house. It is always lit by sun and the colors becomes really something near the sunset, spectacular views of downtown SF (reviewed by many). The house and the garden make a single piece of art which yet does not contrast with the nature. Vice verse, the big trees around, the hummingbirds and the sculptures in the garden unite to create a unique and very relaxing ambience. For longer stay, it is important to mention that the house has been planned and maintained very well, the kitchen is excellent and living there (we spent 2 months) is very easy. We highly recommend “the house on keller beach”!
My husband, I and our cat moved to SF Bay Area a month ago and we needed a temporary place to stay until finding our own. It turned out Clair's house was available right when I was coming, so I reserved it and we didn't regret it. It's a great place in a wonderful location. You can see the bay from the window, it has a hot tub and a sauna. Clair and Richard met me and showed me how everything works there and they left the same night. Richard explained how to use the woodstove and left more than enough wood for it, so we could enjoy our evenings near the fire. We kept all our staff at the storage because you can find anything you need there, even a soldering iron. Our hosts were always available to answer our questions by email or skype. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Clair's house and would recommend it to everybody.

About the Host, Clair And Richard
Hi, Clair is an economics professor at UC Berkeley (and clay artist), and Richard is a biochemist who invented a natural cure for UTI.
We love to travel and explore new places,
and we love to visit our kids and grandson in Brooklyn.
We are easy going, and go to bed on early side.
Also we jog and rollerblade all over town,
or go to museums, theater, and out for a microbrew.
Hope to meet you some day!
