The location of the yurt was spectacular. Just a short drive outside Granada, it was easy to find with Yair's detailed directions (though don't attempt it with GPS without the host directions, as our GPS almost took us off the side of a cliff). The yurt is situated in a beautiful olive grove. Though it was early January and cold at night (be prepared to manage a wood stove throughout the night to stay warm), the weather and view were truly spectacular.
Yair was out of town when we stayed there, but had a caretaker meet us and make daily contact to make sure everything was okay. The yurt itself was cozy and spacious; however, it could use a good dusting, as some of the decorative elements seemed they had been sitting on the shelf for just a little too long.
Overall a really positive experience off the beaten path in the olive groves of the Alpujarras.
Staying at the yurt was great! Amazing location with greats hosts. It was extremely relaxing. I would definitely recommend staying with Yair and Ziza.
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely Yurt a lot.
Surrounded by beautiful nature, great view over the mountains, a nice pool and small lovely villages in the neighborhood.
We recommend to enjoy a really good vegetarian meal by Ziza, the lady of the house.
Summer can be very hot during the day, but it cools down in the evening which is very comfortable.
Our six year old daughter loved the place too.
It was nice to see her explore the nature around her.
We hope to come back soon.
Super lovely couple with very possitive energy. If what you are looking for is staying away from the crowds and recharge your inner batteries this is the perfect home. The food was also amazing, let youreself be treated by them.
My husband and I stayed in Yair and Ziza's yurt (the bigger one of the two) for two nights during our recent trip to Spain, and everything about it was wonderful.
The two yurts and small guest house are on the same property as Yair and Ziza's house, two kilometers or less from the lovely mountain village of Lanjarón. The drive through Lanjarón to reach the yurt was stunning enough, with a climb on winding roads into the Alpujarras that brings you almost level with the blades of the huge windmills dotting the landscape. It's easy to miss the turn off the main road - the signs are pretty small - but after having to turn around once, we got it.
Yair and Ziza greeted us warmly and invited us to join in on a vegetarian dinner that evening, which we accepted. It's an extra 10 euros per person, but delicious and no doubt the healthiest meal we had during our entire vacation. : )
The property surrounding the yurt is quiet, secluded, and full of green, something we desperately needed after too much time in a bustling city. There are flowers everywhere, birds chirping, an orange tree to pick from at will, a cleverly covered swimming pool, multiple hammocks, and four fat cats on the roam. For us, that adds up to bliss.
From the yurt, we were able to take beautiful walks farther down the mountain road, passing very few houses but tons of olive, lemon, and orange trees, patches of red poppies, tiny waterfalls, and old crumbling buildings. It's also a short (though uphill) walk back to Lanjarón, where you can find the entrance to a number of hiking trails - we took a great one that brings you high into the mountains and back down into the neighboring town of Órgiva.
The yurt itself is very cute and, though spacious, cozily filled with decorations and knickknacks. We didn't have a chance to cook, but made tea on the stove every morning and helped ourselves to oranges and almonds from the bowl that was left for us. The bed was comfy, and there are plenty of blankets for the chilly nights.
Throughout our stay, Yair and Ziza were incredibly hospitable and helpful, always taking time to say hi when they came across us, but never intrusive. As we had left most of our trip unplanned, they let us use their computer for research and gave us two great recommendations for places to visit after we left the yurt (both of which turned out to be great). Yair even called up a lodge owner to ask about a booking for us.
Our time at the yurt was priceless, and we can't wait to go back. Highly, highly recommended.
