About this listing
Right in the heart of Montpellier our comfortable one bedroom flat has been totally modernised to provide a comfortable and relaxing environment. The roof terrace with wonderful rooftops views is an added bonus! Tram system within walking distance.
Delightful spacious apartment right in the centre of the Ecusson (the heart of Montpellier). It is on the second floor of a period building very near the Prefecture and the Arc de Triomphe. The apartment was extensively modernised two years ago and has both air conditioning and heating. There is a lovely roof terrace overlooking the cathedral and rooftops. Despite being in the centre, the area is very quiet.
The Ecusson area is basically pedestrianised and so very little - if any - traffic. Montpellier has an excellent public transport system as well as a well organised bike hire network over the whole city.
There is a wide range of restaurants and plenty of cafes and bars close by - and all the shops are within easy walking distance. There is a great street market on a Saturday morning within 200 yards.
The apartment is close to all the attractions of Montpellier - and also of course close to the beaches that are accessible by the new tram line.
Interaction with Guests
If I am not there my friend Adel will meet guests and take them to the apartment to show how everything works - he speaks English, German, Spanish, Arabic and of course French. He has great local knowledge and is happy to give you tips on restaurants etc. There is a folder in the flat that provides information on local attractions etc.
The centre of the city is a vibrant and colourful environment with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Despite being right in the centre of the city this the apartment itself is quiet! I love being able to get up in the morning and just wander down to the local boulangerie to buy a baguette or croissant!
Montpellier has a superb public transport system and a great bike hire network.
The apartment is absolutely a non-smoking environment! All windows have wooden shutters and when not in the apartment it is best to keep these closed. Apart from that there are no real 'house rules' apart from the obvious ones of respecting your neighbours as you would hope they will respect you. The plants on the balcony like some water from time to time - as do those in the courtyard downstairs!!
I also of course expect you to respect the flat and its contents. I love the apartment and expect it to be treated with care and respect. Occasionally some things can get broken but if they do please either replace or leave appropriate money to replace..... If you use any of the household goods and they run out please replace them.
There is air conditioning and heating - same system ('reversible'). PLEASE do not leave on all the time as it is very expensive to run!!!!!
Recently left full time work as a College Principal and live mostly in London where I have a beautiful riverside flat available with great views from the balcony. I still work quite a lot and have major interests in the theatre, ballet, opera, travel and food!!
I also have an apartment in the centre of the lovely French city of Montpellier, also listed on airbnb.
Both places I view as my homes and wish to see them respected as such! I live with my partner Richard who is a graphic designer.
