LIZARD, part of the Vagia Residence - Serifians Houses is a perfect retreat from the fast pace of the world. Nestled on a natural valley, the headland gives way to a pristine sandy beach on the west and stunning theatrical natural rock and sea bays on the east.
The house is built out of stone in the unpretentious spirit of the island and has the stamp of its owner’s architectural view. Ideal for families or friends seeking to escape from the ordinary.
The space
Lizard is part of a 3-acre (12,000 sqm) property which is built on three levels offering privacy on each level.
It reflects a state-of-the-art restoration of the original structure of four traditional stone-built agricultural residencies (including an old wood stove) built in the early 20th century.
The interiors are furnished with emphasis on conventional elegance providing style, simplicity and comfort for its guests. The outdoor areas offer sheer delight throughout the day. The layout provides guests with multiple leisure alternatives and its terrace overlooks towards the Aegean Sea and Vagia beach. The surroundings of the house have been planted with a wide variety of trees and bushes in a truly Mediterranean yet Cycladic motif.
The self-catering studio house features an east and southwestern orientation with astonishing 180° views of the Aegean from the east along with the islands of Sifnos, Kimolos, Milos and Antimilos on the background and Glaronisi island, Vagia's beach its theatrical-shaped valley on the foreground.
Open space of 40m2, with fully equipped kitchen, dining-living area, queen size bed, guest bathroom and a loft double bed. The 35 m2 terrace functions as a summer dining and sitting area inviting you to sunbathe and relax whilst gazing at the magnificent view of the Aegean sea with 180 fish-eye see view.
The house accommodates up to 5 persons including kids and there is 24-hour support from authorized staff in any technical matter you may need, as well as, housekeeping every three days.

The house is located 10 minutes by car (5 km) from the port in a peaceful and private location overlooking Vagia beach.
All our houses at Serifians have a south facing orientation facing the sea, so you can enjoy plenty of sunlight from dawn till dusk. Sunrises and sunsets are truly magical here.
All grocery stores and super markets are located at the port.
The house is 700 meters or a 10-12 minutes walk (alternatively 5 minutes by car) from Vagia beach, which is one of the best on the island. After Vagia you will find another famous beach, Ganema, which is protected from the winds. Both beaches have excellent taverns and restaurants serving from noon until sunset.

Lizard is located 5 km from Livadi (the island’s port) which is a 10 minute drive by car. The island's capital Chora is another 5 km from Livadi.
Livadi & Chora
Livadi, which is the harbour, is an ideal place for taking a stroll along the sea front with its wide range of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, etc. All your shopping can be done within walking distance. You will find grocery stores, bakeries, butcher shops, fruit shops and the island’s pharmacy.
If you like to swim, the port area has two beautiful sandy beaches: Avlomonas and Livadakia.
Chora, the main village, is built amphitheatrically on a rocky hill overlooking the island and harbour. The locals have followed the Cycladic architectural tradition by building white cube-shaped houses. Strolling through the winding narrow streets of Chora, you will discover bars, cafés and taverns which blend harmoniously into the scene. Take a walk up to the 15th century’s Venetian castle and visit the small chapels or windmills which are perched precariously, offering breathtaking views of the island.
Magnificent Beaches
Serifos’ coastline offers plenty of beaches to choose from: rocky, pebbly or sandy ones accompanied by crystal blue waters.
The island’s beaches are reached by car, walking trails or by the sea.
Easily accessible sandy beaches are Agios Sostis, Psili Ammos, Agios Ioannis, Sikamia, Kalo Ambeli, Ganema and Vagia, where the residence is located.
Our Neighbourhood
The location of our residence is ideal for exploring the whole island for adults and children alike. Enjoy a relaxed walk at dawn or in the evening through the former vineyard valley or the old Vagia village. On your way, you will find the little chapel of Agios Konstantinos and the gorge. Have a look at the old iron-mining facilities and the beach of Vagia or just walk down the hill on a private path to the isolated beach of Glaronissi.
An unforgettable experience is picking summer grapes and wild-figs whilst strolling around in the neighbourhood.
The residence features magnificent sea views towards the south-west and in less than a 5 minute drive (or 15 minute walk) you can reach the most beautiful yet unspoilt beaches of the island: Vagia and Ganema.
Nearby restaurants are the Cocomat hotel restaurant (1 km away), the Ganema beach tavern (2 km away) and the SAAN (also 2 km away).
Activities & Exploring
If you are interested in hiking and exploring, there are several marked hiking paths to discover the island’s villages and monasteries.
In the North of the island, near Galani village, you will find the fortified monastery Moni Taxiarchon, built in 1500 and is nowadays run by a single monk. The monastery contains fine 15th century frescoes and rare byzantine manuscripts.
Serifian Cuisine
Serifian dishes are full of aromas and flavours! Try the meat products such as louzes, syglina (traditional cured pork) and sausages. Taste marathopites and marathotiganites (fennel pies baked or fried), revythada (traditionally cooked chickpeas) with a local variety of chickpeas and local cheeses such as myzithra and xinomyzithra.
If you like sweets, try pasteli (sesame bar) which is cut in a diamond shape, with an almond in the middle.

Serifos temperatures average between 25 and 27 Celsius with low humidity throughout the summer; highest temperatures are usually reached in August.
