Kathleen was a fabulous host who made us feel at home straight away. Her and Watson were incredible and we are only sorry we didn't get to try the hot tub.
We arrived to an outdoor fire going and got to relax and take in the beautiful neighborhood.
Miss Kathleen was very welcoming ! We loved chatting with her because she is a lively lady who knows a great deal about Portland. We loved her cozy home and her very well trained Boxer. We made use of the hot tub in the evening and also enjoyed the bed and the wifi. Our hostess supplied towels for both showers and the hot tub. She kept snacks and drinks in the fridge for guests and communicated with us everything we needed to know during the entire visit. Kathleen really pays attention to detail and this is part of what makes her a great hostess. A very lovely stay in a great location.
Our trip to Portland was a last minute booking and we are so happy we got to stay with Kathleen! She was very accommodating and had great recommendations for first time visitors to Portland. She and Watson are great hosts, and we definitely recommend staying with them. Convenient location, beautiful old house, comfortable bed, and a hot tub! Amazing Airbnb experience. Stay with Kathleen for a great time!
Wonderful stay. Highly recommended. Kathleen was a perfect host and provided such a welcoming home. The accommodations are just as they appear in the listing. Watson, her boxer, is also a pretty great host as well. Thanks Kathleen...we'll be back!
I had a change in plans during my stay in Portland and there was only one thing to do, contact Kathleen! My stay with her the first time a few years ago was so amazing I couldn't wait to return. Kathleen is my favorite host. I'm amazed at her sense of when to engage and when to give you your space, she's incredible! Her home and garden is my dream, and hopefully someday I'll have such an amazing place to call home! If you're looking for THE perfect place in Portland, this is it. I feel Kathleen is not just a host, but a friend, and I will look to her for advice when I move to Portland. I'll be back!
Kathleen greeted us with a freshly opened bottle of wine, a fire going in the outdoor firepit, and a charming boxer doggie. The room is a perfect base camp for exploring the city, especially the NE and SE. Oh wait, did I not mention the HOT TUB? Yeah, it's got that too, in the beautiful private backyard grotto. Every amenity is available, I didn't know so many kinds of lotions and beauty products existed! Fridge was stocked with all sorts of yummy treats, we were a little bummed we didn't get to spend more time just lounging around the house!
We've stayed here before and the second time was just as great as the first. It's like staying at a friend's house who has a perfect guest room. Great location for discovering NE Portland. We will certainly be back!

About the Host, Kathleen
Hey there Travelers!
I'm fun-loving, very social and love meeting new people. I embrace diversity and value people's differences as much as I enjoy sharing common interests with them.
I am fascinated with other cultures and traditions and always seek ways to broaden my world. I figured opening my home to travelers would be a fine way to nurture that goal.
I love to garden, cook, read and I am an aspiring writer. I love art in every form. My music interests include almost every genre. Speaking of art, I'm something of an artist at putting my feet up in my garden with a glass of wine at the end of a hard day's work and you are welcome to join when you're here!
I wish I could travel more, but lead a very busy life helping manage a local restaurant. A busy fine dining/ live music venue featuring fantastic local musicians.
Being in the restaurant/bar industry allows me to appreciate people from all walks of life. Everyone has a story. I look forward to hearing yours if you're in a sharing mood.
No pressure! :)
I love animals as much as I love people. My beloved Boxer, Mugsy died at the ripe old age of ten. He went deaf in his last years, but since I have a background in special education, working with deaf and hard of hearing children, I had the foresight to teach him sign language as a puppy, so we didn't have any trouble communicating in his last years! It took me a long time to grieve for him. My latest Boxer is now 2 years old. He is a handsome, playful, very joyful companion and is also learning to understand sign language. Come meet Watson!
Being a Boxer owner might tell you a little about me. Boxers are smart, loyal, full of energy, fun loving, and maintain their playful "puppy-like" attitude their whole life! They can also be rather stubborn and determined at times! People who choose the breed appreciate those qualities, most likely because they themselves exhibit the same traits! :)
I'm humbled when friends have described me with these traits and surely aspire to live my life as large and loving as a boxer!
I look forward to hosting you during your stay here in beautiful, Portland, Oregon! Welcome!
