About this listing
2 beautiful apartments, located in Cocotal, one of the best and most secure complexes in Bavaro. It is near lots of amenities where you will have a wonderful time! Check-in is at 4 but if not one is exiting the same day, you can check-in earlier.
The apartments are in an enclosed golf course complex with beautiful tropical grounds and a beautiful golf course. It has 4 pools and a couple of them feel like private pools because they are quiet and peaceful. The other two are more frequented but it is never too full to find a nice hutch to sit under shade. Across the street is a very nice mall where you will find restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe, Outback, a lounge bar, wine store and several others. They also have stores like BGBG, Guess, and many others.
A very nice new supermarket is open so food shopping to cook at home is very close. There is another supermarket in Plaza San Juan, which is just 5 minutes away. You will be just a few minutes from several beach clubs and across the street you will also find a couple of beautiful 4 and 5 star resorts for which you can get day passes, if you are willing to splurge some. Otherwise, you are just no more than 3 to 15 minutes away from some of the most beautiful and peaceful blue water, white sand beaches in Punta Cana. There are a lot of restaurants in the area since it is in the middle of Bavaro, the most popular area in the Punta Cana area and the in the Dominican Republic.
You also have one free parking spot. A lot of people like to rent cars to be able to explore the area, and it is pretty inexpensive to rent a car for a few days or a week, especially if you have a major credit card that insures you, since that is the highest expense when renting one.
In the apartment, you will have access to the internet. You have a portable i-pod player to listen to your music, but you have to bring your own I-pod or i-phone, 32 inch flatscreen tv with speakers attached that will give your movies great sound. You have cable and you can bring your movies to watch if you choose. You have two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with two twin beds. There is also a sofa bed in the living room. There is a dinning room and a fully equipped kitchen that is small and cozy and has everything you will need for preparing meals for your family. You have a safe to safeguard your valuables even though the fact that it is a very safe and secure complex. There are air conditioners in the bedrooms and the living room. The living room also has a ceiling fan and there is a portable fan that you can use in the bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchen if you feel you want extra ventilation.
For an additional $25 a day, you can have your own cleaning lady, who will clean and cook for you (food has to be purchased by you at the supermarket). This is great for people on a budget since the restaurants can get pricey because it is a very touristic area. It will also save you the hassle of having to spend time cleaning or cooking for your family and giving you more time to just enjoy your vacation. If you choose not to, the charge for the last day is mandatory in order to assure that the apartment can be ready for the next guest.
It is a beautiful relaxing area where you and your family and friends will be able to sit, put your feet up and relax.
Guests will have access to 4 pools, a restaurant by the pool that is by the golf club house, a restaurant by pool between villas 5 and 6, coffee shop and another restaurant in villa 1, a mini mart in villa 1, supermarket, shops, banks, restaurants like Outback, Hard Rock Cafe and Papa John's Pizza, bar lounge, movie theatre, night club and more, right across the street from the complex.
Interaction with Guests
I am available for questions and concerns by e-mail or by phone. However, due to the nature of my job, I am usually able to answer e-mails only at night. If there is an urgent matter when the guests are housed at the apartment, I respond immediately or as soon as I am able to get to it.
The complex is a closed, 24 hour security complex, beautiful grounds and views within the complex. it is located at a very central area near lots of amenities. Access to the Resort is for Family members only. You can purchase day passes for Melia, Paradisus or any other Resort in the area (dozens in the areas). There are several beach clubs right in the area which give you free access to the beach. Although they are not far, due to very high temperatures, it is recommended that you rent a car (highly recommended), use a taxi which you can catch right across the street, or use a motor taxi (which is the least expensive option). Beaches are from 3 to 15 minutes away by any of these options, depending on which one you choose to visit.
There is good transportation in this part of the island. The best way to get around is to rent a car, which makes it very convenient to go everywhere outside the area. They have made sidewalks for people to go long distances around, but it is very hot and I don't recommend it for anyone who may be affected by heat exhaustion or with any health issues. There are lots of motorcycle taxies for just a couple of dollars. If you are not scared to ride one, that is very convenient to some. There are lots of taxis but the rates are comparable to NY rates, and I find them a little too high, mostly to the airport. However, some people may feel that they are willing to pay the rates for the convenience.
Other Things to Note
The apartment is located in a beautiful complex that feels like a resort due to it's connection to Melia Resorts across the street. However, it is a residential complex and people have to observe all condo rules like not hanging towels or clothes from the railings, turning loud music down or off after 10 pm. following pool rules that are posted by each pool, having id card that they obtain coming in and out of complex, and any others mentioned in the rental agreement.
You must indicate which apartment you seek, Golf Suites Paradise I or II. If you do instant booking you are agreeing to whichever is available at the moment.
Smoking is allowed out in the patio only. The apartment must be maintained clean and in condition received. Any food or garbage should be thrown out every day to avoid issues with ants or any other unwanted pests for yourself or future guests. Because it is a condominium, rules must be followed. Picture ID must be carried to go in and out. None-apartment guests should always be in the company of apartment guests. Towels cannot be hung on railings in the patio due to condo rules, therefore, hanging hooks are provided to help you leave your towels and bathing suits to dry. Everything in the apartment was purchased carefully for your comfort and should be treated with care and remain in the apartment when leaving. Access to all the pools on the premises is based on proper attire and behavior. Please see pool rules (all published by the pools). Due to the extremely high prices of electricity in Punta Cana (due to the fact that it is the only place in the Dominican Republic where private homes have electricity 24 hours a day), if the bill is higher than $6 dollars a day during your stay, you will have to cover the additional charges. In order to avoid that, we recommend common sense and earth friendly methods. If you are not in a room or in the apartment, turn off the AC. At night, unless you have someone sleeping in the living room, make sure that it is turned off. Keep AC's on a timer at night and off during the day when you are out. Use fans more often. After all you will be in a beautiful tropical area where often you will feel some great breezes. During the times that it feels very hot and humid and you are in, just use common sense and use only what is needed. When you are not in a room, turn off the lights and AC. All these techniques have helped us and our guests stay cool and comfortable while being earth friendly and conserving energy and expenses. The apartment must be left in clean, organized and in the same condition your received it. Washer and dryer are located in villa 14 and they sell tokens in villa 1. However, tokens are very expensive. Washing machine available in Golf Suite Paradise II. If damaged, you will be responsible for repair costs.
The last rule, Enjoy and have lots of fun!
Ana is a fantastic host. We spoke on the phone prior to my trip and she sent me all the info about the condo via email. She also checked in with me by email during my stay to see if everything was good.
The condo was as described. The Cocotal Golf Suits is a gated community and is very quiet and well maintained. The pools and grounds were really nice and not crowded. The Melia Caribe Resort is just across the road and access to the resort was provided once you get your ID card. There is also a shopping mall across the road that has restaurants, a supermarket and bank. Nearby there is another shopping center, a few reastaurants and public beach access.
I would recommend the Cocotal Golf Suits if you do not want to stay in an all inclusive resort, but have access to all the amenities, privacy and the freedom to explore other places.
My stay at Ana's was comfortable and enjoyable. The patio allowed for some amazing breezes during coffee or cocktail time with my fellow travellers. We ran into a few snags at the condo. However, Ana was attentive to & assisted in resolving some of the problems. My only complaint was that I thought the condo had 1&1/2 - 2 baths so 1 bath for 3 ladies was tight. Great host, nice place.
The host was fabulous. I really enjoyed dealing with Ana in every respect. She was organized and communicative and extremely helpful. At one point our propane tank ran out and we couldn't cook after the third day but she dealt with it quickly and apologized profusely...although it wasn't her fault at all and we totally understood. She provides you with a great document that will help you determine where to shop and how to get to the apartment. The situation with the Melia passes and security to get in and out is a little bit confusing at first. And finding the apartment is a little difficult too. Just go to the Office next to the Pro Shop and ask someone there. Very helpful and they'll show you where everything in the complex is on a map. I didn't find the pools amazing but they were fine. The staff in the golf course bar are amazing. There's never anyone in there so you can have the bar all to yourself but it closes early. The golf was fine. The apartment was good, but the roosters in the ball field across the road will start waking you up early so it's hard to keep the windows open at night. I liked that I could watch the locals play baseball every night from my balcony. Sort of became my ritual. Also the traffic is loud. But I liked the location and the apartment very much. It was convenient and not crowded. I visited the Melia Resort one day and much preferred the solitude of the Cocotal complex or one of the public beaches. I rented a car (which you really need if you stay here) and there was no shortage of parking outside of the villa. There's also two restaurants inside the complex. Trendy was pricy but good and was right on the golf course which was nice. Eat up the street at Casita de YeYa (across from Sunix)...so cheap and so delicious. There's also Outback and Hard Rock Cafe straight across the street...you could actually walk there no problem. If you don't rent a car, at least rent a bike to get around. The complex is quite spread out. But if you like golf and you like a place that is secure and nice to walk around in...then this place is perfect. And I can't recommend a better host than Ana.
I stayed at Ana's apartment in December 2014. Ana was very responsive throughout the entire process and answered all my questions in a timely manner. The apartment looked just as it appeared in the photos (very modern and clean) and came with all the amenities listed. Ana even sent a list of tips and local recommendations which was very helpful. The location was very convenient to beaches, shopping and restaurants and the community had access to 4 different pools. As this is a residential complex, most of the people I met there were locals and were very friendly. Security was seen walking the grounds throughout the day and night making you feel very safe.
I have stayed at several resorts in Punta Cana and the private apartment was a nice change from the all-inclusive resorts that are often times over crowded and very commercial. Note: I did rent a car and was travelling with Spanish speakers.
This was my first experience with AirBnb internationally and I was very impressed overall. I highly recommend Ana's apartment. I also suggest you book asap if interested as it appears availability moves quickly. Two thumbs up, I hope to stay at this apartment on my next visit to the Dominican Republic!
Our host sent emails with details on the condo, complex, contact information, local amenities and places of interest to visit. We found everything as described and appreciated the directions to local beaches.
The apartment is absolutely amazing!! The place it's clean, everything looks new and it looks exactly as the pictures reveals. It's really good situated, close to everything. The bathrooms are perfect, the beds are really comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. the club is really nice, quite and peaceful, there's also a lot of nature. This place was perfect for us because we really wanted to have a resting and relaxing time! Anna was an excellent host!! she gave us very clear instructions and all the information about everything we would need!!
If I ever go back to Dominican Republic I would totally go back to this apartment.
Ana's apartment is beautiful, clean and fits the description perfectly. We were able to access the beach at the Melia hotel for free which was great because there are not many public beaches around that area.
She stayed in contact all the time and replied quickly with lots of detail to all the questions we had. Overall and amazing experience!
About the Host, Ana
I'm a Principal and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I love to spend time with friends and family. I love to travel especially to tropical countries which is the reason for buying this apartment. I also like reading, swimming, exercising and photography.
My motto is don't do onto others what you would not like others to do onto you. Although it may seem cheesy, I truly try to live by this and treat everyone with respect and kindness since that's how I like to be treated.
